For the MC. I get her past, but that didn't give her the right just to brush off and make the duke's feeling seems like a joke. Also, regarding her past, she was not blameless at all; if she stands up for herself, things wouldn't be like that for her (I had the same experience, so I know), not defending the guy but Defending herself. She is like that because she knew what she did wrong and want to avoid the same mistake again. We get that, but don't be such a close-minded person as not everybody will have the same attitude as her friend, because that kind of friend is no friend. We indeed Have a shitty A society that will say harmful things about you to the point that you will feel bad yourself.
For the duke. I admire his tenancy of pursuing her even to the point that she dirty herself so that the duke will be Offended by her. He loves her, and I hope she loves him back in return.
