There was a time that I honestly thought the mom would be on their side. Even up until a couple of chapters ago, I thought her maternal instinct to protect her son and not force him into a loveless marriage like hers, would win over everything else. ... I cannot even begin to express my utter disappointment in her. Had she shown even an OUNCE of compassion in her eyes, I could have still held out some form of hope for her. But nope. She is really being a bitch as well.

I love the story. I REALLY do. I am just having a hard time wrapping my head around the concept of a dynamicverse of Doms and Subs. I guess because I know a lot of people in real life that are into BDSM and the entire point of BDSM is that it is mutual, consensual and fundamentally based on respect. And this dynamicverse concept just throws all that out the window. Especially the consent part. So really glad that this is one of the first two I found, and that the Dom in it is respectful and not demanding.

Yeah that’s exactly the same problem that I have with this. Putting aside the fact that Dom-sub verse is hilarious as a concept, it’s kinda problematic because it completely neglects the fundamentals of what a REAL BDSM dynamic is like. There’s more to it than just dominating and submitting. It’s about trust and boundaries and communication. All of that is completely ignored when you add an element of “instincts” that don’t rely on the communication aspect of BDSM :/

Nope. Nope. Nope. The more I think about this, the more I am pissed off!
First off, what Jeff felt for Luann was NOT love, it was OBSESSION. Had he TRULY loved her, he would NOT have hired a bunch of nameless goons to attack her, so he could be the "hero." He also showed complete lack of guilt over what he did, including getting drunk, while knowing she would be attacked, and LAUGHING and BRAGGING about being the "HERO." As well as being completely blasé about his proposal, AGAIN, without a SHRED of guilt. The man was a PSYCHOPATH. He only felt bad when he realized he had LOST and even then, he would rather kill himself than face the music. And that bit about having Alek take care of Fred? Betting he did that as PUNISHMENT. I have no doubt in my mind that he HONESTLY THOUGHT he was punishing Alek by having him have to take care of his own kid the way he took care of Alek's. PSYCOPATH.
And the fact that Alek KNEW that Jeff had set Luann up to be attacked, but didn't TELL HER, because he thought she loved Jeff, makes him almost as bad! He KNEW what Jeff had done, but left her in the care of that Psycho because, well, "looooovvvvvveeee!"
The ONLY reason I am willing to give him ANY kind of pass is because he didn't know what healthy love should be, so he may truly have thought those kinds of "games" were normal. And because he did actually save her and was an otherwise decent character.
But Jeff? He deserves to ROT IN HELL.

Fr like thinking you're protecting someone by hiding from them the atrocities their loved ones have committed (against them might I add) is not only plain stupid but actually cruel, bc what makes you think that they'll be safe from being hurt again.
If I were her I'd break ties with Alek for the simple fact that he hid the fact that the thugs that almost raped her were hired by her husband. Like what makes you think that he wouldn't try some BS like that again or actually rape her himself? Utter moron.

Can I just say it? I don't care if you are married or not, if you FORCE yourself onto your spouse IT IS STILL RAPE! WHY do romance novelists want to romanticize that crap?!? "Oh! He is a big, STRONG and masculine man, who is forcing me into sex, but somehow I can't resist and enjoy it." BS.
And don't get me started on the "TIMID," "NICE" sister! Again, I am calling BS. She let her sister's life and marriage be RUINED because she had an affair and couldn't face the damn music! And her husband was no better in that when he found out, he didn't TELL HIS BROTHER that his brother's wife had been innocent. I really could have enjoyed it, had it not been for those two plot points> What is worse is that while the affair plot point served to move the story along, there was absolutely NO REASON to add the rape bit.
OMG! That was fantastic! I love it! Aside from the trauma he suffered, it was a great story. The FL wasn't one to just lay back and play the victim. She stood up for herself and was honest with both herself and him about her feelings and WHY she was leaving him and that she did love him. I also loved how he kept overreacting in regards to the pregnancy (but not in a bad way). This has to be one of the best Harlequin stories I have ever read.
