I just read chapter 80 and it is the end of the main story. Very underwhelming. Basically, Valerie gets hurt protecting Asil and then he gets hospitalized. Asil feels bad. Valerie wakes up and goes straight to Asil who welcomes him and all is well with the world. Listen, I was 100% expecting them to end up together and I made peace with that a while back but I wanted more. I would've prefered more heart to heart discussions and some distance in which Valerie, for the first time ever, respects Asil's decision over his own separation anxiety. Then, at the end, they get back together. But, whenever an author goes for "dickhead gets hurt protecting MC that they originally abused so said MC feels bad and forgives everything", it is such a let down....

Somewhat good news is that there are side stories to come so at least we get something beyond this

I'm rereading the earlier chapters of this to torture myself and I was thinking that the "noble X commoner" and all of its variations (rich x poor, CEO x employee, super powerful esper x lower rank guide, etc) are very rarely done right without any extreme power abuse. The one that comes straight to mind is the couple from "Taming the Tiger" which I always reread. I get that this dynamic easily lends itself to abuse and it is realistic and all that, but it is just overdone. Just because something is realistic does not make it enjoyable to read

It has been such a chore to read this since the amnesia arc started because ML was annoying and just when hr became bearable, the author decided to nerf his character through this amnesia arc. Let this shit end already. I'm only reading this because I'm so susceptible to the sunk cost fallacy and after reading so many chapters, I feel like I need to see this through

The story isn't bad at all....just not very memorable. I've read shonen ai and yaoi 15 years ago and still remember their plot line. I think that I will completely forget this one in a year. That's not necessarily bad. 95% of stories I read fall in the same category.

I will always be uncomfortable when a story has the premise of a character going against their morals (he clearly said that he wanted to be able to face his family and this goes against his beliefs) to get money and save their loved ones....However, it makes it a little better when seme didn't do uke dirty behind the scenes and force his hand (like make him unable to get another job). So, I hope that at least this remains the case. If we find out that the job MC was supposed to get and didn't was influenced by ML, that'd be really shitty. There is just something about ML's eyes that I deeply mistrust and I've seen too many manipulative semes in similar stories.
