I know that some people get second ML syndrome for pretty much every story....I don't, it's very rare for me and this is one of those instances. Second ML isn't even toxic (unless the author decides to nuke their character in the future to make all readers root for ML). If anything, he acted as MC's hyung in many situations where he could've easily been an asshole and used MC's father's debt against MC...I don't even hate ML, I just dislike him a little but second ML has my heart in this one

I can see how this came to be....the artist was drained after working on "Murderer Llewellyn's enchanting dinner invitation" and thought of the most mind-numbing porn without a plot story (is it even a story at this point lol) as some form of a desperate palate cleanser. Hey, not hating on it since there isn't much to hate, it's just a load of nothing.
This reminds me of "Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke's Mansion" even though it's very different...I think it's the fact that this story had the same vibes of "MC was supposed to be the heroine and has heroine characteristics but maybe her soul went to the wrong body.....also, the maid next to her (the one that has no memories and can read ancient language) reminds me of the goddess in the Raeliana story..."

I don't fault that reasoning at all. While I love Ain since we basically watched him grow up and he is a good guy, if he isn't clear about loving her, the best choice for her is to not marry him. Her resolve to only marry someone who clearly loves her is the right mindset to have.
I'm annoyed by ML's family but I'm glad that the author didn't make them comically evil like "take this money peasant and fuck off because you're not worthy of my perfect heir who will marry the daughter of so and so"...they feel like actual human beings who love ML and dislike MC because they think that he will make ML reckless and remind him of thr worst memories he has forgotten.

I'm partial to a "pretty and cunning seme × strong more masculine yet cute uke" but I don't love the dubious consent at times...when either party thinks "do I hate this?" It feels weird. I suppose that the author means "I would hate this if it were anyone but this guy" and it's supposed to be romantic or whatever but I would rather that not exist. It doesn't sit well with me....
Sigh....I appreciate the translation but the English names ruin this experience. It's not even a "subbed vs dubbed" or some asinine debate like that....there are over 1000 chapters using the Japanese names...to start using the English dub names now makes me unable to suspend my disbelief and emerge myself in the story. It feels like I'm watching someone using a puppet to reenact this and I'm seeing an adult human being crouched behind a table that's way too small for their body ...and I'm supposed to go like "yep, that's my jam"

I read ahead in the novel and I'm so disappointed. I have to say that a good MC is do hard to come by these days. Everyone's character goes to shit when they start falling in love with their abusive ML....this story could've been so much better....sigh
It's 2025, the brat uke x abusive seme needs to retire. But hey, at least author did one thing right and tried to flesh out MC's charscter and not make him a brat just because. Dude has depth. ML is still 2 D though...
