I read so many stories with similar plots that sometimes, when one of them is updated, I feel like the uploader made a mistake and uploaded another story's chapter instead because everything merges together in my mind. I wrote a description for this in my reading list as: "detective MC meets a guy who looks like a previous victim that MC let die. MC's ex is an asshole drug dealer. Puppy type ML" but reading the latest chapter made me question past me who wrote that

What an insufferable MC. He slept with the guy and then as soon as he was broken up with be yelled "slut". This is basically a worse verse of an asshole guy catcalling a woman and when she snubs him, he screams "you were ugly anyway". The fuck?

Listen, I've given up on such stories having a healthy relationship and I've been beaten into accepting the toxicity and how thse authors portray MLs like invincible war machines while the supposedly competent MC is an imbecile ...the one thing that still bothers me is how quickly these MCs go from being traumatized by extreme secual violence that leaves them for dead to sitting across from their abuser while sipping on ramen broth.

I get that the human body gets hungry even after extreme trauma, however, wouldn't it have been more realistic to show him quietly slipping to the kitchen in yhe dead of night and raid the fridge to find something to eat rather than willingly getting so close to the guy who raped him repeatedly and beat the shit out of him? It just doesn't sit well with me that in these fictional stories, we can't have any semblance of realism.

I like the story overall. I enjoy the fact that there is an actual plot with a mystery that intrigues the reader. I would rather the story had no dubious consent scenes, but I've basically grown to tolerate this sort of thing in omrgaverse and guideverse. If not, I would never be able to read most supernatural yaoi and I do truly find them enjoyable.....like I could see myself enjoying this plot in a shonen without any shonen ai/yaoi elements

The only story I've ever read that has a decent amnesia plot where the ML doesn't become worthless scum after losing his memories is "Reunion". All the stories that have a similar plot to this one are absolute trash

Authors usually milk the "chasing arc" but the reunion happens a lot sooner than expected here. It's neither a good or a bad thing. It's just unexpected

This is one of those yaoi that is 90% porn and that is fine. The yaoi world is vast and there is something for everyone....I just find it funny how the entirety of the omegaverse genre was created to justify more mindless fucking. I think that some readers wanted to read about men fucking like actual animals but didn't have the stomach to read actual furry yaoi or those monsters fucking so this was a good in-between: humans that go in heat and fuck for days on end while slurping each others' goo
