Is it just me or did the last few panels of the flashback was a little weird?
Is it only because of our omniscient viewpoint that we know ml didn't throw away / betray mc but that he explained that he would have to stay and play a role to ensure that the escapees will not be traced?
Weren't the parents already dying by the time they escaped? (maybe my memories' tricking ne)
And based on his character, wouldn't the MC first question why he did what he did rather than full on hate him??? (Or maybe i read his character wrong)
Also.
Guys, this flashback makes ML MORALLY GREY, and I kinda prefer him over the 2nd ML, who's not portraying any hints of hesitation to hypnotise espers to his bidding (such people tend to become egocentric megalomaniacs and do unnecessary harm to others to fulfill selfish needs)

Karma. Bitch.
Side note:
i find ML to be morally grey rather than outright bad
sure the ML is hella manipulative...... but the thing is his manipulation doesn't actually harm MC or other people in general.... in fact, he's trying to manipulate him to live and the people commonly harmed by his manipulations are those antagonistic to him, and his team. Moreover, he manipulate them in a way that they destroy themselves, because of the bad things they did.

I wanted to hate both the emperor and pope so bad.
I wanted them to suffer.
What they did was absolutely wrong and selfish.
They SHOULD be punished for it.
But after knowing their backstory, I can't help but pity them too.
They already went through a lot, hence their selfish and greedy decisions.
But knowing/ experiencing the pain of the consequences of such decisions, may mean they can never truly know peace (of mind).
Unless, all they get a slap on the wrist... then ...
(*`Д´)ノ!!!
Jk sry that's mean of me isn't it?
Oh G*d.
Kuwa was so handsome that not only my heart fluttered.
Also, that last 3 panels *chef's kiss*
