Dear manager of that place, if you are going to fire him in less than a week why bother hire him in the first place ?
Why does not having the new guy work an important banquet equate to getting fired? And as to firing a new employee, someone may know all the right things you wanna hear to get hired and be completely uninterested in doing the job they were hired to do. Why waste time and resources on a mistake?

I'm sure, but warnings do shape some ppl up and it's nice to be told "If this happens again, you're fired" instead of "this happened, so you're fired" like you can do anything about your mistake after it happened.
My problem isn't that he made a mistake. When training, one is bound to make mistakes and that is all part of the learning process. My problem is the expressed dissatisfaction he has for the job he was hired for. He say he doesn't want to do that job, he would prefer the be a waiter. He belittled the job he has. When training someone, I can teach you how to do it but I can't teach you to value it. Burn out is rampant in the hospitality industry. Catering to the whims of the guests can be physically and emotionally draining. If you start with someone with this kind of attitude it can be toxic to the entire staff.
BUT HE APOLOGIZED AND MADE UP HIS MIND TO BE BETTER. CAN'T PPL JUST GIVE HIM A BREAK AND LET HIM AT LEAST TRY BEFORE FIRING HIM??
