There’s so much eye candy and choice man meat in this story (even portal guy is hot af), yet our MC’s endgame is with the asshole .
Oh well, the actual plot itself is super fun!! Happy it got an official translation. I want to read the novel eventually, since it seems like the kind of story that works better in prose. Also I desperately need to see more of Eunchong and the other hottie vassals <3
With every new chapter I cant help but think “…wasn’t this a story about a man leaving the mafia?”
Don’t get me wrong, these side characters are well written with a surprising amount of depth and nuance, and I’m also especially thankful for how this author writes women when most BL makes them flat, witchy characters that are only seen as obstacles. And if from the start, we were told this would be a collection of stories about the men at this strip club, I’d be fine with all this.
My issue is that we spent the entire first season following Junghae and his involvement with his criminal family, and that getting him and his brother as far away from that life as possible was extremely high stakes and time sensitive. Now it feels like that entire plot came to a screeching halt, and it doesn’t seem like we’re going back to that anytime soon.
Again, if this was advertised from the beginning as a look into all these characters lives and how they connect, this would make sense. But I have no connection with these characters (the country boy was only very recently introduced??), so even though they have interesting stories, I couldn’t care less because we weren’t spending any time with them during season one, and I just want to know what’s happening with our Actual main character. I’m happy for the people that are enjoying this still, but I have a theory that even the author doesn’t know where to go with the main plot line, and is stalling by fleshing out these background characters instead
Those last panels are killing me. He really wanted to spend his last years surrounded by the few people he could love and trust. I think he knew that “she” wasn’t really Jiyoung and just went along with it because he so desperately wanted someone by his side that he was willing to pretend, but ended up appreciating and loving Hakyung regardless. This manhwa is so good at capturing such subtle, gentle emotions that even slow paced chapters like this one tear my heart up TTTTTT
I know this is just porn and I’m asking for too much, but I need SOME kind of development omg. We see that Jaehyuk kind of likes Garam as more than a fuck buddy, but he’s still such an asshole and I’m still struggling to picture him being genuinely attracted to Garam as another man. Garam still doesn’t like Jaehyuk in any way and only sees him as a big sex toy. It’s been 36 chapters with no progress at all and I cant even enjoy the sex scenes when they’re both so annoying about it
This was so freaking good. I’m sad the rating is kind of low solely because people were frustrated with the lack of communication early on and didn’t give it another chance, even though the entire plot of this story is about overcoming that and building trust. (But tbh I think I would’ve been a little frustrated as a reader too, which is why I waited until this was completed LOL).
Wonjoon is one of the more realistic BL characters I’ve ever seen. I know as readers it’s easy to be angry with him, because WE know that Kyunghoo (the mc) is a green flag, and that his brother is obviously well-intentioned and could never hate him. But HE, as a character in this story, doesn’t know any of that. Like the author says in the authors note, life doesn’t come easy for him. Kyunghoo is rich and naturally smart, with a loving family that accepts him being gay, he has the privilege of not having a lot to worry about in life and is able to be easy-going because of it. Wonjoon had to work for everything and only has his brother, who he’s terrified of losing too. He’s not going to be completely emotionally stable given his circumstances, so I’m sympathetic to how closed off he became because of it.
Obviously he shouldn’t have treated Kyunghoo the way he did, but that’s the whole point of the story! That with time, compassion, trust, and allowing yourself to heal, you can rebuild what you thought was broken!! I’m so happy I read this. Toxic, over the top dramatic yaoi has its place, but sometimes you need something more grounded in reality. I wish people gave this as much of chance <3.
I love this comment so much because it’s so true (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ at first I disliked the uke because I saw myself in him (someone who overthinks and has a hard time reaching out and saying what’s wrong aka complicating things) but after reading it completely, the plot was realistic to the point where you understood each character had there reasonings and that life isn’t just a walk in the park for everyone whether you may think it or not because of how they look. (●'◡'●)ノ
This is the cutest type of school life “slow burn.” I put that in quotes because even though the mc is slow to fall, he’s still falling faster than most other stories with this type of plot lol. Which I like!! It’s such a cute, sweet break from reading tragic or fucked up BL stories. The hand holding scenes!! Agh!! It reminds me of Heesu in Class 2 in a way, which I think is the epitome of sweet, school life bl. I can’t wait to see them officially get together, I feel like they’d be such a clingy couple once they get comfortable with each other (≧∀≦)
Thank you watduck for all your work!! And for addressing the spoiler problem lmao I’ve noticed it on every other ongoing, longer story and it’s insane. People getting worked up over spoilers they can’t even understand, then rushing to post it here for whatever reason, and then everyone else takes it as the absolute truth when they’re only receiving 1/10th of the full picture. I like peeking at spoilers too, but when non-native speakers admit they used papago and read it from a suspicious website, you gotta use your better judgement and think maybe this isn’t the most accurate source lol.
Anyways, I like this story. It’s messy but in a fun way, and MC is a cutie patootie (;ω;)

I love this manhwa so much, I love that Yoogun is such a complex MC with his own motivations, I love that even in a story with so many characters, every one of them is written with nuance and they all have their own goals and complicated backstories !!
It takes everything in me to not read ahead in the novel because I really enjoy this art but gah!! (I have read the last couple side stories though and if you want something cute and silly to take your mind off… literally everything that just happened lol, I recommend reading *SPOILERS* the historical AU one with emperor Yoogun and his royal harem ^u^b)
