The seme is just canonically bad at sex and the uke just learned to endure. Don’t love that for him. This is also a scenario where one of the characters wants to switch, like genuinely would love to top the seme. And they just… dont? For no reason other than the weird strict “top and bottom” BL rules that exist for some reason. And still don’t like the seme. Likely never will. His inability to be considerate in bed and just constantly wallowing in his own self-pity is annoying. He only considers his own pleasure during sex and it shows deep down what a selfish and self serving person he is.

I think the author mentioned in a QNA that they don’t like switch couples or particularly favor them. It’s really sad we won’t ever see a switch, they would dooo so much better if they switched every now and then.
If they didn’t like switch characters, why did they write a character that wanted to switch and didn’t even enjoy bottoming? Like, it’s fine to have preferences, but because they put their preference ahead of their own writing, it came across as inconsistent character writing.

I will NEVER understand the yaoi trend of making the victim, the person who was tortured and raped, be the one to chase after and comfort their abuser bc it’s revealed the abuser has a sad backstory. The backstory wasn’t even bad enough or in no way explained why this man suddenly thought “guess I’ll drug and rape my childhood crush”. There was 0 redemption, 0 effort from the seme to actually earn forgiveness. He just gets it gift wrapped to him. If the rape was going to be so easily glossed and gotten over, it didn’t need to be there. Seme could have just confined him while still giving him the omega drug, without rape. And NOTHING would change because the rape doesn’t impact how the uke feels about the seme at all (being in love with him after everything bc the author said so, not because it made sense). What a waste of time this was.
As someone who's been reading yaoi/romance for over 10 years now, all I can tell you is that when I was younger, I thought the same. Now that I'm older, all I can say is that all that weird shit is just kink. Sometimes the author doesn't even realize it--creating art is a very personal thing and pieces of yourself can slip through whether you want it to or not. Art is a safe way of exploring those kinks (rape fantasies are a kink (and may be a coping mechanism for rape victims) since no one actually wants to be raped). Some people don't care if they subject others to their kinks (like a certain famous movie director who has a feet kink, for example, or how rape can be sexualized in media).
...Sorry for the long comment. If it helps, rape kink has been around for a VERY long time and has its roots back to when romance first started as a genre because of puritanical attitudes around sex.

I understand rape kinks and won’t hate a story just for including it, I understand kinks are a thing. I mean the very specific plot point of the victim of the rape coddling and comforting the rapist with 0 redemption or character growth from the attacker. I hate when the rapist is forgiven for everything they’ve done because le sad. When “Hit on by a Kinky Guy” is probably the most rape fetish yaoi to ever exist, and even it managed to avoid this trope. And only had the victim forgive/overcome the rape after a LOT of development from the abuser. A sad backstory can explain why the abuser behaves a certain way, but I hate when it’s used as an excuse. Having a rape kink also isn’t an excuse for bad plot beats. If an author chooses to write porn with plot, instead of just porn, readers can criticize the plot they write.

Anywho, reading about rape recovery is pretty tough stuff to both read and/or write. Depending on how it's written, I'd personally have to be in a good headspace to read it.
When stuff like this get published, it does make me wonder. Does the author know the psychology of a rape victim? Do they understand how recovery works? How much of this is cultural? What does the author's culture say about sex? About gay people? Or maybe it's the author's attempt at self-therapy of some kind? A wish fulfillment? Is it just for the porn? Is it Capitalism getting its disgusting hands on a product with potential?
I guess thinking of all that stuff is my own attempt at wish fulfillment to better understand why things like this exists?
This one more than others really felt like a lot of development was missing when the sex scenes were cut. That’s because these sex scenes follow plot beats and character development. They have actual dialogue that is more than sex sounds. Going to pause on reading though and wait for it all to come out for a good binge session.
“Anyway, how’s your sex life?” - Woomin literally the day before to a man he barely knows and what he DOES know is that he hates touch and getting close to people. Doc has every right to avoid him. He’s no different from the creepy guys who hit on baristas at work.
Why is the author having everyone guilt trip the uke for not immediately trusting and relying on the man who raped him and doesn’t care if they’re caught fucking in front of his daughter? Read the raws and ML is just straight up insane. He tells MC he fell in love with him at first sight and that he’ll never let him go. He also genuinely does not seem to understand why MC hates him and would kill him if he could (dude is made of steel and tanked every blow MC dealt when he tried). This is definitely not going to have a happy ending. Likely MC’s friend dies (the friend is also crazy obsessed with MC) and MC just learns to cope with the ML.
Raws are up to chapter 17 and there hasn’t been much progress. MC definitely has hemroids now though. The dude in the tank top that was going to rape MC’s friend is now obsessed with raping MC. MC and Friend are plotting an escape, but I don’t see them getting far. ML likely has some kind of ability that lets him influence the zombies.
Gonna keep reading bc I really like the MC. Its rare to see the bottom physically fight back against their rapist and hold them accountable. Also seeing the MC not get hard when ML was thigh fucking him felt strangely refreshing. I like that the MC isn’t all “I hate him and don’t want this but… it feels so good *blushu*” can’t stand that trope… though I will say the scene of ML essentially over stimulating MC with bjs and handies until he was completely soaked was hot. Also looking forward to MC’s escape attempt and how ML reacts.
