And then this one.
I didnt expect to like this so much! I thought it would be a cliche playboy x tsundere, but it's not at all. I'd been scared that najima would force himself on koga as per usual yaoi manga and the story would turn tropey but what happened was the total opposite. I even ended up liking the former private tutor, and her decision to choose neither najima nor his father. I feel like everyone in this manga had reason for their choices and wasn't just one dimensional. Najima makes sense as a character, and the way he fell for and treated koga was so rewarding to read. Also, the writing is so good? Kudos to the translator who managed to convey it properly. Damn it now i'm rambling, but i just like this one so much and i hate to see it not get the rating it deserves!
I first read this a rly long time ago and i remember liking it fine, but now that i reread it, i realized how rapey this manga is. Fumi molested shunpei when he was asleep and often pressured him for sex despite knowing that he only liked girls before. Not to mention the threats of rape being thrown around casually like it was nothing and that student prez who should have a whole warning dedicated to him. Guess this manga didnt age well for me.
I dont understand why the author had to make taichi punch naoto then raped him? If the point is to show how they would lose control fighting over trivial things, i feel like the punch was enough considering their relationship. I can't root for taichi after that scene, especially with how shallow his apology was and how easily naoto forgave him. Anyway dropping because it stressed me the fuck out reading this.
Well, I can understand your feelings.
But, you should look well, it's clear that though Taichi tried to force it, he didn't go in in the end. He realized what he's doing and stopped after putting the tip in. Not that it made Naoto any less scared and he bled a bit and it's obviously a horrible thing to do to him, but Taichi did stop before actual rape. Taichi is pretty messed up, and I think he isn't getting enough exposure on that subject. He has serious abandonment issues, and massive insecurity and it's not something easy to fix. It doesn't excuse behaving like that, but I do feel his pain.
I recommend reading until the end, Taichi is still a bit dramatic and his issues are in the way, but the happy ending is very good =] He mans up at the end.
I read until the end of vol 1, but reading the comments saying that there's more communication i decided to drop it because it's not my cup of tea. The purpose of my comment is to give a trigger warning for the ones who don't know the manga contains rape, like i was, because it was quite shocking and triggering for me.
And sorry, but rape is rape... saying that what taichi did wasnt "actual rape" is honestly shocking. Putting "just a tip" and the victim "bleeding just a little" does NOT make it not a rape. Im asking you please do not make light on what taichi did, eventhough it's just fiction. Anw, i wrote that comment pissed as hell because that scene and the resolution in my opinion ruined a manga with great potential.
I wasnt angry with you, i said i was "pissed as hell" when i wrote my original comment to this manga complaining abt the rape scene, nothing to do with you. As for the other thing, i was explaining to you that what taichi did /was/ rape, because you said that he "did stop before actual rape".
If the opinion you're talking about refers to the quality of the manga, then of course you are entitled to yours. But if the opinion you're talking about refers to whether taichi "actually" raped naoto or not, then i'm afraid you're incorrect, and it's best that you take that scene as what it is: an actual rape scene.
Their dynamic and comfortable relationship is SO fun to read that i can overlook the toxic masculinity nonsense.
It's one thing to have preference for sex positions, it's another to look down on it. Being the receiver doesn't make you less than a man, doesn't make you the "bride" (and why did they say it like being a bride is a bad thing?), etc etc.
It's understandable that they were both averse to bottoming at first, they wanted to "make the other feel good" and the position they were comfortable with was as a top since they never dated men before. It could have been way more fun if it was focused on them discovering and experimenting their sex life together. They didn't have to act like being a bottom is the worst thing ever.
Honjou did say that it won't matter if they couldn't have sex as long as they were together. That's why the toxic masculinity is such a shame, because this could've been really good without it.
Realistic first time yay! I wish more of BL works would show that anal sex isn't just jab jab jab done lmao. It takes a lot. It doesn't always work the first time, and even when it does, it rarely feels good instantly for the bottom. Mangas like this show that preparation and discussion leading to the sex can be equally satisfying and sexy, and educate people that it's ABSOLUTELY OKAY to take time and set your own pace when it comes to sex.

It would be really hard to find this kind of BL manga nowadays. The quality of the writing and research that went into the story is unreal. But i guess it's expected since people usually prefer the more sexual and light works than the wordy ones like this.
