So I finally finished this after a loooong time.
Personally I don't get the hype and never did. S1 and 2 were okay, fluffy and all. I just didn't like the characters very much and their dynamic even less. But I've read worse. Like at least it was wholesome.
Then came the smut.... which was boring and bad. Haebom becoming gradually more childish and ugh. And it's just soooo much smut and they go at it like the rabbits. Nothing to say, didn't like it
This went from 3 to 2 stars, possibly even lower. The last chapters were just incredibly boring and the whole storyline of the evil coworker in season 4 was so lackluster and boring. Villains don't always have to be compelling/well written but he was just evil for evils sake. It was extremely unnecessary. Generally all the smut just got more and more bland and I didn't like it before already. Why does haebom look like a child half of the time?????
Also the first half of the epilogue was kind of boring????
Now to my real complaint, fhew.
WHAT THE HELL WAS CH137?!?!?!
Like I said, the guy was such an unnecessarily evil guy and so boring. It felt like the author was writing self gratification by punishing the character who was disturbing the MCs. That one line from his "bf" gave it all away. And then!!!! He kidnaps and rapes him!??!?! Why the actual fuck did the author think it was OKAY or even GOOD to show visual rape in a fluffy webcomic. I'm beyond disturbed. And then????? That's it? No one mentions it. Like what the hell. I was struggling so hard the last chapters.
And the cherry on top was the last chapter. I was already wondering why the hell the author would include half SA in the fucking last chapter but then dude even registers what he's doing and it just is never really addressed? I mean couldn't you just have not made him do that?????
Like the only thing I liked about this were Jia and taesungs mom

EXACTLY, I JUST CURRENTLY REREAD THIS AND I'M QUESTIONING WHY I RATED IT HIGH IN THE FIRST PLACE The smut became too much at some point and also, I don't remember Haebom acting like that but upon reading it again, i was like omfg?? Ur right about the red hair guy too, like he was just unnecessary evil and the blatant SA near the end (and at some chapters too) if were being honest, this would've been good if it ended in season 2 but the author dragged it on for much longer that it lost its sense of plot or whatevs

I'd consider myself at least halfway smart but reading this wrecks my braincells. I have no idea what's going on most of the time

Her main goal is simply to ensure Cedric ascends the throne seamlessly without opposition and doesn’t have rivals in the future. She wants to ensure her brother DOESNT ascend because she knows he’s a pos. She also wants to atone for all the bad things she did in her previous life to ensure her brother becomes the king. So basically she is meticulously bringing down the emperors faction and her brother’s supporters. What’s happening right now was for her promise to the empress. Empress supports her and she ensures the empress can get back what the emperor stole from her (except her children obviously since the a**hole killed off all her children so Laurant can ascend the throne). For the empress showing her outright support would directly pit her against her brother (otherwise family ties would keep her enslaved to him). Her promise to the empress was that she’ll make sure all of the inheritance of the Raigan duchy (empress’s original family) goes back to her. The emperor had killed off her family and put his own person as Duke of raigan. Because of the salt they’re very important to the empire. Right now the empress just claimed back all that should originally belongs to her.
It does get confusing because multiple plots are unfolding simultaneously. E.g Amel kingdom prince also moved for her in this case. The other duchy that starts with R is also a target with Skyla becoming a big card now I think.

I have been lost for at least 30 chapters now. I feel like it's become intensely political and with so many moving parts, weekly releases of the chapters makes the info too far apart to really understand. I'm sure if I was reading this all at once it wouldn't be so confusing so I might be putting this one on hold for a while

Thanks for the clarification. But I was still on confused on did FL's mother already had Laurence (? fL brother) and the emperor was killing his children because he was afraid they would somehow gain control of empress's duchy. Or he wanted to make Laurence the one to sit in throne but actually not having any power.?

Fl’s mother was a horrible person but she herself had a horrible life. Basically fl’s father was an old guy who married fl’s mother when she was 15 or 16 because power and money. But because she was so beautiful she caught the emperors eye. So her husband sent her off to the emperor to gain the emperors favour. So even though she was the marquess on paper she was the emperors concubine as well. And she made best of the situation by clinging to the emperor because he is more powerful. (Not entirely sure but I think the marquise died because he slept with his ‘wife’ which resulted in our fl. since his death isn’t clarified to at least I don’t remember it) anyway clinging to the emperor worked because he favoured her over the empress. And he killed the empress’s children not because they could inherit the duchy but because with strong family backgrounds they could have contested him for the throne especially because he was mistreating their mother. Another reason is since he favoured the fl’s mother and her brother looked likes their mother the emperor wanted to sit him in the throne. It’s also a bonus point that all of Laurence’s power comes from the emperor himself. Laurence wouldn’t be a powerless emperor but he can only come into power when the emperor hi,self relinquishes it. Hope this helped.

It's all cute rn but i really dislike the smut. Bro why are you crying during sex???? And so quickly. Ik this is very common in BL but it's so weird. Also if a person u they don't like the position u gotta stop!!!!

With Naoto, it is sort of a kink. He likes it when Hazuki is a bit forceful. I think they established it much earlier... He is usually saying "stop, it feels too good" or "no, dont go too hard/it's too deep" or something to the effect. Basically he is telling Hazuki to slow down because he doesn't cum too fast.

yes maxi bestie, you got this. Make him cry and beg and recognize he ain't got shit to tell you.
Worthless little piss boy if you are so insistent with your inferiority complex at least recognize you gotta shut up as well

Hahahha i feel very honored.
Personally I wouldn't recommend it. Maxi is an alright protagonist but Riftan is insufferable and their relationship is full of miscommunication. It also takes a loooong time to develop anything. There were times when i considered dropping it and I can only go on because of Maxi and because i want to see riftan cry

This is so goddammit annoying. IT'S BEEN 17 YEARS. Did it say there "I hope we can be together for another 3 years"?? Did it? This can't be true.
Onodera is such a dimwit like bro, how could you think it's the temperature that's making you hot? Obviously it's takano, you should know by now!!!!!! And that shit ass sex scene like just leave it be. If they still aren't together just don't let them have sex it's so unnecessary

I know I won't shut up about it, but I'm so sick of this kind of incestuous fetishism. Why did have her brother have to undress in front of her and it have been drawn so explicitly. I know there's no sexual intent and irl I do not give a fuck if siblings are close and don't care about nudity around each other, but depicting it this way is kind of.... icky.
It's like the author is proposing the idea of the possibility. Her brothers and father are sooo hot and love her sooo much but oops, they're family. Anyway....look at how hot they are and how u much they love her

I know the characters don't have any romantic/sexual feelings towards each other but the AUTHOR creates these situations. It's about her brother being drawn so sexily while he is undressing in front of her. He's stripping for the reader IN FRONT OF HIS SISTER. That's what makes me so icky. And like I said, their relationship just kind of crosses the line already
I'm not gonna write some essay here cause I'm already too tired of this.
Y'all don't get the real issue. It's not wrong for Riftan to want her to stay at the castle since she's not a trained warrior nor really trained magician (which is his fault). It is dangerous for her to accompany to him the battlefield, he's correct.
However, he has no right to talk to her like that. He doesn't listen to her and she has absolutely no say in this to him. He's not even properly explaining her why he wants her to stay. Nor is he talking *to* her. He is talking down on her and he has done this since their relationship started. He is treating her like an object, a trophy he has won.
I am sure he truly cares about Maxi in his own way, but not about her as a person. If he would, he would include her in the decisions that are to be made. He would stop seeing her as a dress up sex doll.
And this has NOTHING to do with his past and trauma. It explains why he's so insecure but it does not prevent him from seeing Maxi as a person. He glorifies her and puts her on a pedestal. How can he even say he loves her when he barely knows her? And I'm not talking about him not knowing of her not actually being a pampered woman. He just doesn't see HER. Riftan has a vision of her and that's all he sees while she's nothing like that.
And that's why it's not okay how he's handling this war situation. The reason he doesn't want to her to go with him is wanting to protect her but he doesn't want this for her but for himself. It's all about how riftan feels and what he wants. You don't love a person if you disregard their feelings and thoughts.
"I'm not gonna write an essay" - writes an essay XD
Bestie you haven't seen the essays I can write when I'm upset this is nothing for me
Then it's no longer an essay but whole literature analysis.
Keep slaying (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
omg THANK YOU! This is literally what I’ve been thinking. This was worded perfectly!
You are not wrong. But the vision Riftan has of her has been a misunderstanding since the beginning. He thinks she lived her best life in Croyso Castle, from the start he thinks he's not good enough for her and doesn't believe she's happier with him than she was with her father. He tries to treat her as the noblewoman she is and compensate her for having to get married to him (a lowly knight). He doesn't see a noblewoman working or going on raids so he doesn't understand why Maxi is acting the way she is (she should be spoiled). In the end, he does everything with good intentions. If maybe Maxi actually corrected the misunderstanding and talked about her life and her feelings, maybe things could be different.
Like I said, his behavior towards her has nothing to do with that.
Also, regarding his vision of her.... that's exactly what I was trying to point out.
I understand why he had this vision of her initially, but now he's had plenty of time to get to know her. He THINKS she's a spoiled noblewoman but she TELLS him she wants to do things like heal the soldiers and train in magic. And that's the moment when it becomes clear how he doesn't know her and sees her as an object. Because his ASSUMPTION about her should be corrected.
"She may be a spoiled noblewoman but she WANTS to do this and that" is what he should be thinking. But he doesn't. Because all he sees is the image of her he's crafted in his head. Despite her telling and showing him that she wants something else. It shouldn't matter that he doesn't know her past when she tells him she wants something.
And if compensating her means yelling at her and forcing her to do things she doesn't want to then wow, I'd rather be punished.
