Yesss, I’m really seeing an uptick with this trend. Wholesome and feel good mangas or ones that seemingly reach a positive outcome suddenly take a sharp turn to violence and trauma or (surprise surprise) rape plots which I hate. I’ve been having to fall back on reading more novels than mangas/manhuas.
I've been moving more towards novel's too :( I feel like there's been a trend recently with the r*pe, physically and mental abuse. I do think it started gaining popularity after sadistic beauty and the side story. The timing checks out, and there's a lot of stories that are extremely similar to sb. I keep getting recommended these types of manga through tiktok and twitter. In the last I'd say 4 months? There's been 3 new mangas where the top has just snapped the bottoms ankle and locked him away. It's becoming so normalised :(( one of my safety mangas is SIGN. I need those types of wholesome love stories!!

I completely agree, this past year the authors have been on another level of madness. I LOVE Sign, I always reread it to bring back the warm fuzzies! And I’m not squeamish at all but even I have to put my foot down when every single manga starts to follow the same trend it gets a little ridiculous.
The mangaka must have more than one helper because some panels seem consistent with the original art style and are PERFECT and then immediately the next panel is so (with all respect because I’m sure they are trying and deserve no hate for that) sloppy and rudimentary. It ruins the experience of one of my favorite works on the platform which is so sad, I hope they notice this and adjust accordingly because it’s such a lovely work.
What do yall mean by “why is he hung up on family, he needs to let go and move on?” Move on to what? His rapists? He literally only came this far for his last remaining family member and I pity those of you who don’t have such a deep love for your family (blood or chosen) that you’d go through hell or high water to protect them. There they mention the prospect of Ken x Agia not being endgame, and that they want to have scenes with Ken doing it with other men.
