I had like a relapse in this sort of daddy-daughter genre, as in I'm good all obsessed with it despite the shit writing but god this is really bad.
Like the start was okay yk, I was all for the concept but...
1) Her relationship with Cheon ma is so shallow, like it would have actually been salvaged if they continued dragging out that overused af trope of 'omg my dad doesn't love me I gotta run away before he kills me etc' or like the thing where he’s genuinely a bad person and she has to grapple with that. Like after they made up cheon ma just sits and smiles and lets her do whatever the fuck she wants. I know its supposed to be a sign of trust for his daughter or whatever but its boring. The daddy-daughter relationship is supposed to be the main selling point of the novel… I guess I like the ice flowers concept but it’s getting old real fast.
2) They screwed up the romance. Ak is too old for her. I know they only have a few years age gap but they are REALLY young right now like barely teens so the age gap literally feels like 20 yrs, not to mention they just had to make the height difference like giraffe and hippo so the fact they are crushing on each other feels all sorts of wrong. And snakey… I love the concept, it’s very cute but he’s genuinely like so annoying which is saying something because I’m usually all for the clingy, younger-brother type.
Anywho, daddy and boys are seriously just accessories for her because she isn’t interesting herself. All this palace management stuff is boring af. Everyone likes her she has no problems anymore I don't see where the plot is going. I recommend this if you're thirsting for some daddy-daughter love like I was but really the romance spoils it all.
