This is so disappointing. Her father neglected her to the point she literally killed her self in the original tale(past life?) yet she doesnt show more than the briefest hint of fear or desperation when around him, and hardly acknowledges how he treated her in the past. I want an angsty make up/apology scene, but not if there isnt build up beforehand!
I dont think he neglected her. I think he just doesn't know how to interact/communicate and express his feelings to her. I think its all misunderstanding and miscommunication. If they actual talk and express their feelings then it will work out well.
According to crown prince max she is his weakness, I feel like he is kind of father that is too "protective".

He didn’t neglect her, he was trying to protect her from the emperor. Of course, I’m not supporting what he did but he had reasons for his actions (〜￣△￣)〜
even if it was unintentional, even if there were ''reasons'', it was still neglect, and still pushed his daughter to obsession, then violence, then eventually, death(though im pretty sure he knew it wasnt her, he still acted like it was, and gave no hint of care, leading to her suicide). I was tempted to excuse it if the emperor was threatening her life, but Clearly the emperor's pressure doesnt matter that much, seeing how as soon as she seemed even slightly upset he brushed the emperor aside and rushed home.
He may be overly protective in the eyes of others, but to her, he's cold, indifferent, and doesnt love her(or at least *was* those things. Our current mc is very nonchalant lol.) Im looking forward to the story progression too, and finding out who framed her for the poisoning in the original tale(the duke? the crown prince? her father, or the princess maybe?) and I am looking forward to an eventual reconciliation between father and daughter-But I feel it wont be as satisfying of a revelation without some serious build up, or at least proper acknowledgement of his actions, and how they made her feel.

Furthermore, I feel like her ex was probably the one who poisoned the drink because he mentioned that he “will make her pay for leaving him” even though I don’t think he’ll gain anything from killing the princess. Or it could be the duke because he wanted to get rid of the princess for his daughter. Orrrrr it could be the prince to move her out of the way.
I have so many speculations, and I’m so excited to see how the story will unfold!
I dont know if mikail wouldve done it in that timeline, as he broke up with her in the original. Im thinking-and this is just speculation-that the princess and mikhail plotted it together? Or perhaps that the emperor did so to frame her, thus causing her father's downfall? Then they planned to briefly lock her up, prove her innocence, then overthrow the king and release her after-but of course, she ended up stabbing herself.

Except that as of what we know right now the one who experienced that end is not our FL and our FL (with her previous life's memories intact) is reacting as if she were more a bystander to how he treated her in her current life than reacting like the one who actually went through it. So it makes MORE sense that she's reacting this way than the way you thought she should, tbh.
