when the protag, is all blushy and doe eyes for the Prince after and while he pulls some really gross, controlling lines. I'm like "that's supposed to be hot and romantic??? ". I'm talking mainly for the first chapters. The "he's so dreamy" face she makes feels very forced. Like gurl both of us know nothing about this guy other than his very """""""romantic"""""" comments.
I don't hate the protag, Regria btw. I just found so odd that she's all sparkly eyes for him after mere touches when she herself know the he's dangerous, crazy, controlling and has no issue invading her privacy. Her reaction feels out of place is my point.

It's not just the obsession... He simply cannot trust Penelope to do the what's most beneficial thing for them. Thus he acted in what he sees is more profitable than waiting on her. Penelope left him delulu that only he can save her and groom him to be attached and in love with her.
Gets constantly beaten for being a slave etc, hearing the rumors about Prince and Penny being a thing and sees them dev as couple while he's training hard, thinking he can only be a slave-knight to Penelope aka a partner her family and society won't ever accept and someone she cannot say she loves and pick because of social differences.
In his eyes Penny's plan of him not being slave after becoming a Knight is less profitable since it takes time, very low chance of happening and he risk Penny falling for someone else. Him showing his gratitude to the duke by arresting refugee/escapee (I don't remember) and bringing Yvonne is a faster method to forgiven and stop being a slave. If he does become a knight for that and bring Yvonne back, Penelope being treated as sh*t (bc the real Princess is back) is not his concern, it won't happen in his plans because he'll be her side to protect her and eventually get the duke to accept him as a potential partner for Penelope. Unfortunately for him. Penelope doesn't even consider his thought of process because it's never gonna happen because it's an avoidable fact in her coming of age there's an unavoidable bad end for her.

Ngl I still believe Penelope's plan was doom to fail. You can't just leave a guy in delulu land where he thinks he's your only ally, savior and with strong love for you, to be on standby and wait for you like a loyal dog while you announce there's a thing between you and another guy, chances you pick over a Prince is low,...

I think she was thinking more in the confines of the game. I think her goal was just to get eclis to 100 so the game would end and so would her shitty situation, I don't think she ever considered much beyond that bc she probably doesn't see the people in the game as real people. could be wrong tho but that's how it come off to me

I agree. In fact, her approach was basically "I did what trigger romantically this LI and his affection is high" then proceeds to never interact with Eclis ever again unless they cross path by chance. She does the bare minimum too imo her plan to get him to get her out is was doom to fail. They barely see each other... She does the bare minimum. Does not love him, since he's a character. While on the other Eclis was lead on by Penny to he's her only ally, all they have is each other = delusion.
Like I love Penelope but I think it's just karma. She approached him for disgenuine reasons and technically is playing with his feeling if we consider perspective other than her. At the end of the day he was just a tool for her (a character not a real person). An escape route.

About that....

He could be under a spell too. Yvonne can enchant the characters, enhancing their emotions. It's already shown in the previous chapters.. She enchanted pink step brotherl, made the small suspicious he has of Penelope stronger. To the point he accuse Penelope then a second later he doesn't understand why he reacted that way. This is just speculation tho I believe it could be highly true since Yvonne tried enchanting all the LIs... Anyways she could have enchanted Eclis as well for 1) her benefit of returning home and raise civil war 2) enchance his strong passion for Penny so he doesn't see reason. Tho by the looks of he's going cray cray and desperate now since Penny doesn't trust him anymore... I read some theory here that the darkening color of his affection could be sign of his downfall to yandere path

Last panel is just me going "don't do it, don't do it bro. That's illegal. That's messed up. Donnt~" while reading. Take goodness the guy woke up.
If ML brings upon hell to mc, I'm sorry but I can't blame. Guy woke up married against his will and to a guy that tried to ravish him while he's in coma...
did he hang his undies that way in the first chapters?!
dropping this I think... Magical talking flying mascot works like repellent to me ahaha. Plus I cringed a bit much too.
HELP FRRR
Nahhh id say give it a try it's pretty wholesome by the end honestly I loved it
