the manga started in 2002 - i was in college.
2018. 16 years later... now, im working - got a career, got a child turning 7, and in my mid 30s... there's still no 'progress' between Kyoko & Ren.
oh well... maybe i'll read this before i turn 60 and get to see their first ever kiss or something...
oh well, lets just hope the mangaka and her editor knew what she's doing.
i love the 'making kyoko more profound and find her true character - but several chapters already prove that Kyoko is no ordinary girl and she takes everything seriously and committed. but the thing is - there's too many elements and some pages are wasted on 'talks' and unnecessary things... the mangaka may or may not lose her fanbase with the prolong of chapters... it would be awesome if she focus more on kyoko, ren and sho's past and how they can hurdle it or something.
anyway... i'll look into this again before i turn 60 and lets see :)

I started reading and collecting the manga of skip beat in my 20s and stops. the story was so interesting and i squeal when the HEEL siblings appears... after that... the story become like a story telling...
its unlike kaikan phrase and even akatsuki no yona. yona and hak has an incredible starts and we all wish for hak to confess and when he did - it was awesome. there's no boring moments at each chapter, even though there are so many characters and so many 'dark past' and incredible appearance...
skip beat wasted one chapter after another with characters that arent relevant...
sorry for ranting.
i feel a sudden lost... i know many will get mad at me or even disagree, but this is my opinion.
the mangaka should focus on kyoko and not elements not related to her - it should focus on ren and his past, it should focus on sho and his 'feelings'

For those who were confused (as I am) I re-read and I hope this will help:
1. Iijima Hisashi was/ is in love with Shige-san (Chii Masato’s friend/ senpai).
2. Shige-san knew about the two Hisashi and he is a 120% hetero and cannot accept the feelings of Iijima Hisashi… so in a way, he push Chii (for he wants Chii to forget the Shinoda Hisashi) and Iijima Hisashi. He felt guilty and at the same time he felt that it was his fault… For thinking that maybe Iijima Hisashi and Masato may fall in love and forget about their ‘unrequited love’ : “If Masato’s loneliness will be eased… If it becomes the trigger to Iijima Hisashi breaking off his obsession with me…”
BUT - from his own words: “I wanted to give him a place to run and called Masato over to Tokyo once he graduated… Masato, who I had prepared to look after for the rest of my life and brought out of our hometown let alone protecting him…”
Shige-san loves Masato in a way a father or a brother loves his son or his little brother.
3. Chii-san confess to Shinoda Hisashi when Shinoda Hisashi visited him in Tokyo - Iijima Hisashi found out about it and Chii-san told Iijima Hisashi that Shinoda Hisashi will think about it… that Shinoda Hisashi doesn’t want Chii out of his life… Iijima Hisashi “RUINS” everything when he gave Shinoda Hisashi photos of the ‘lewd’ Chii-san…
4. Shige-san explains everything to Hinase Michi (Hina)… and that Fune - the black haired guy - is special… special because “There was a time that he was taken care of in many ways by Masato, so he’s attached to him. He’s sensitive to that guy’s change.”
What I don’t really get was - why did Sensei (the mangaka/ author) drew Shinoda Hisashi and Hinase Michi (Hina) with the same MOLE on their lower left eye… It makes me confused and at the same time, felt that Chii is still in love with Shinoda…
Oh well… a few more chapters to learn the truth… worth the wait.

First thanks for the super helpful summary -- trying to keep everything staright is getting increasingly difficult with this series.
Second, I think the Mangaka intentionally made Shinoda and Hina look alike. It feeds into the inevitable conspiracy Iijima is starting to weave -- that he was Shinoda's replacement because of their shared name, and Hina is the new replacement for Shinoda probably because of their looks or personality or both. Or at least that is how I expect Iijima to weave his lies in the next chapter -- "Chi doesn't actually love you, he loves Shinoda and you have his face". I suspect Iijima had either started to develop feelings for Chi, or was jealous that Chi was getting the happy ending he couldn't have and reacted like that (or a mix of both, though I lean towards jealousy).

I think:
Iijima Hisashi - was the friend of Shige-san and Chii-san’s ex-boyfriend.
Shinoda Hisashi - was the childhood friend of Chii-san, who he has an unrequited love. The man who he wanted.
From what I gather at Chapter 2, page 22 - Iijima knew about this other Hisashi and calls Chii-san ‘whore’ and treats him bad. Or like a toy. And was the one who taught Chii-san about all sex stuff.
Hinase Michi - doesn’t have a clue about the two Hisahi and only knew about the ‘Hisashi’ Chii-san keeps on sleep talking and says ‘Sorry… Sorry’
At the store, everyone is present to introduce the NEW MANAGER - which is Iijima Hisashi.
Shige’s involvement : he was the friend of Iijima Hisashi and knew about Chii-san’s ‘LOVE’ and from the look of the past - Chii-san was full of bruise and was not eating and drinking and was in a state that is depression.
It was confusing at first, I have to go back and forth to understand the situation…
I hope I got it right…
It’s not tragedy but more ‘drama’ and full of angst… I cried at the part where Chii-san was dehydrated and Shige-san was taking care of him… I cried when Shige-san hugs him and his girlfriend was crying at the background…
“I just fell in love. And stayed in love…”
It was something beautiful and warm at the beginning but… Iijima Hisashi came.

In this timeline - manga chapter: Shouhei is still living with his parents and brother, so officially - Shizuma haven’t met Mito as the ‘owner’ where Shouhei works.
The parents and brother met Mito when Shouhei was about to live together with Mito :)
The timeline or my clue was Shouhei is still in the house. :)
Hope that clears things up.

To understand more of sense's views
Taken from interview:
- First time experience with BL: in middle school.
- First doujinshi: 2011.
- Fetish: Semes who have experience bottoming
"I used to think there was some sort of requirement for BL to be all lovey-dovey and have happy endings with a moderate amount of sex. (...) Other than the fact that it’s a relationship between guys, I discovered that it’s a genre where pretty much anything goes."

All of TAKAMURE Tamotsu-Sensei's works are spellbinding. It always will put you into a loop of emotions.
My first manga was JAZZ, even though I have read it online, I bought the book for my deep appreciation of sensei and the characters... twisted and with deep emotions...
many of the yaoi stories now are only skin deep... or without plot that can quiver and melt our hearts...
sensei's works are always there to put a tug and shatter your heart...
amazing work.

I don’t know about her other works but this one actually seemed really shallow... What was the reason the seme fell in love with uke? Because he was so pitiful? Because he was blind? Because he had sad past? Because he was mature? Same goes with uke. How come he fell in love with the seme? This doesn’t feel right. That was way to quick. The “most important person” felt so incredibly shallow. It came waaaay to quick for them and there was no real reason for their love. Furthermore the uke was so naive and didn’t know anything about H stuff and the seme did it with him just like that. As if this boys innocent meant nothing.
The idea was nice but the pace made it all unnatural and shallow.

I know many were turn off with the seme’s handling of things. being possessive. but he is not a rapist type of a seme. more like,he wanted the uke to be his in his own world.
its more like: he knew that the uke has so many ties to different people and he doesnt like that. he knew that the uke is falling apart - he didnt like that.
reading/ seeing the raws - it seems that what he wants is for the uke to be his and be at peace at the same time. the way he shows his love is very ‘out of the ordinary’ but as you can see he didnt rape the uke nor force the uke in any humiliating manner that will show his twisted mind.
many seme’s uses underhand tricks and words even without chaining their uke - but this seme uses chain as a means of ‘freedom’
its more like reading deep into the psychological frame of the uke.
i know many were not into the seme’s way. as he was raised in a different environment, but to someone so selfish and possessive he was not a psycho who rapes his victims.
he is fixated only to the uke.
he wanted the uke in his own pure world.
at the last few pages:
uke: “if i promise i will stay you will take off the chain?”
seme: “yes.”
just that conversation we will see that the seme is not some kind of a twisted psychopath.
sorry, its hard for me to explain it, but i hope some will not take the situation in a different proportion.
what i was doing all the time to understand the situation is to be at both of their shoes. seme and uke.

Idk-I feel all that... And really appreciate him not raping our uke...but... I can't cheer our seme on with this... Even if I wanted to. No matter how pretty we can make it sound-you don't imprison someone you love. It has to be another sane way to get through to our uke. I guess for me when it starts off like this it's harder to believe that their happiness is real in the end. The "love" always feels forced afterward.

Um the majority of people try to see it from the abuser's shoes not the victim's. What the people on here are doing is the opposite for once and you want them to go back to giving the abuser the benefit of the doubt. Since you can NOT give BOTH the abuser and the victim the benefit of the doubt. Besides you're missing the point. It doesn't MATTER if the seme was doing it for the other guy's sake. After all what you didn't seem to read was what the uke said AFTER he asked if it was okay to remove the chains if he promised to stay and the seme agreed. He asked Ayumi why he didn't say that BEFORE he put the handcuffs on? And the seme shrugged as if to say that was immaterial. Um NOPE.

Sorry Ayumi asked CHIAKI why he didn't do that before putting the handcuffs on.

Um... Victim and abuser? Of what? Being scared for like 2 seconds? Yes, it wasn't a healthy way of expressing his feelings, but while the method came across shady the emotions and intentions were pure. He's like a child, he wants Ayumi so he tried to hold him there, but also doesn't mean any harm so he lets him swim and even agrees to take the chain off with just a promise. I honestly think it's just that his perception of reality is a little skewed when it comes to social interaction. He doesn't realize what he did was "bad".

Exactly like that guy who lock his love interest in his basement for years and then when she died for a fever buried her in the garden. xDDDDD You made laugh dude. You need help.
hahahaha CLAMP really love to do doujinshi's and was going so above and beyond!
