Solid read, knew ppl were gonna yell about gido in the comments but I’m happy about the main couple. Felt a bit rushed in the end, I wished we could see more of their relationship being fleshed out instead of wasting all those chapters on the second couple. (I like Mr Lee though.) If you want to make a serial domestic abuser get a character redemption (which is literally fucking impossible to do, I need that cunt and his anger issues dead), please try to ACTUALLY not rush it? (Or better yet he fucks off) It’s such a sensitive topic and it’s just better off not rushing it in a few chapters, that just leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

I’m literally only 3 chapters in and I haven’t seen an mc with this much personality in a bl for so long he is so damn stupid AND weirdly manly, I love him
In the first few chapters I literally had no idea what they were saying but they’re hot idiots so I still majorly enjoyed it
Juhyeok was prejudiced, closed off and confused. The premise of the story being to see Juhyeok grow as a person and learning to accept that people that are different from him, are also human beings just like him in the end, was a very interesting premise that I enjoyed.
So obviously in order to for him to reach the said goal, part of what Juhyeok needed was someone of the world that he claimed to not understand patiently and earnestly breaking down his prejudices and walls. The person who kept trying, and earnestly tried climbing over any walls, or waiting when needed, was the director.
I think the director was also a very good and interesting choice because to us and in the story, he was an obvious alpha; someone that Juhyeok would never understand. Someone that very clearly was an alpha and who was told to act like an alpha. Someone that Juhyeok would stereotype as the typical alpha, and would typically act like how an alpha would act. But we have seen time and time again that he felt caged in that role, that he seeked freedom and frankly, a boyfailure lmao. He tries to act cool and nonchalant in front Juhyeok (a.k.a the typical alpha) but his antics keep failing and he’s just a cute loser deep down. This was very important for Juhyeok because out every alpha we see in the story; he’s the first alpha he humanises.
And this ties back to Gido; the fact that he only realised that Gido was “actually” an alpha is when he saw him up on that stage. To him, Gido was a beta in his head, his prejudices still stood strong and I wonder how he would have taken that realisation if they dated, and he one day had that realisation?
Anyway back to what I was saying, the director was the first alpha who in Juhyeok’s world broke that stereotype he had in his head (and we can see how much he loves seeing the director “breaking his character”/being the little boyfailure he is by teasing him so much). An obvious alpha that he couldn’t rationalise as a beta, and one that doesn’t act like his stereotypical version of an alpha, and that relentlessly chases after him (since he could not make the first move, he had to be pursued by someone, which again, ties back to Gido) was how a large part of his walls were broken down.
Another thing I love is how the author teased us with the sister, we didn’t see much of her but she played such a crucial role in the story. I loved the way the author used her as some sort of metaphor, I loved how we only mostly heard about her through this thoughts. The sister he loved and thought about so much throughout the story, (and also the only thing we have seen him show a strong sense of love for other than a vacation in Hawaii) becoming a part of the world he claimed to never understand is what drove the last nail down for him, and I think it’s just such a beautiful metaphor.
