I know amnesia arcs are annoying but honestly, thank fuck for this one, seeing that pervert psycho get decked was fucking THERAPEUTIC like it healed some fundamental part of my soul especially his plan not working and her still feeling disgust for him lolololol like why did you think she wouldn’t be pissed when you commit literal CHILD ABUSE in front of her
Honestly he kind of made it worse. Originally, she gave him warnings for old times sake. Now she doesn’t even remember the old times that served as some type of restraint. Good job to the fortune teller too. His lie about being married with a kid definitely helped her shut that down fast along with her emotions. (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
Just like completely separate from the story, but like what ever happened to like…the grand Duke of the South…or East…or West… or even like Northeast I mean why is it always North? And why do they always have power when there’s literally nothing but barren landscape? Also, why does everyone always assume the north is always cold??? Like that’s not even true geographically for like half the world??? You go far south enough it’ll also be pretty fucking cold??? Technically the only points of continuous warmth are in the middle??? So why???
I agree, but from reading all of these for so many years, I've noticed a pattern that they usually base it on the Russian: North and why it's always cold, European and Asian: usually East, West or central, and Egyptian and African: South being hot or desert. They usually only go from that side of the map because the majority of the novel, webtoon, manga, etc are from those sides of the continent. So if you see it that way, it makes more since lol.....that's how I've thought about it and understood it ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍ but I've always has somewhat of an issue on this too since I'm from North America and we have every season and my Northern states are not that much different, they definitely are not always in freezing cold weather year round or baren lol
But like the desert is more desolate than the north, like you can eat tree bark but you can’t eat sand so wouldn’t it make more sense to run away to a place that’s actually barren not like a place where ondols where created??? Or maybe it’s because the main couple can’t get it on when it’s so hot you feel like you’re melting…? Actually wait that makes sense, in the cold youd probably be more willing to get it on to ‘share body warmth’, that’s how the FL would ‘lighten up’ the desolate north
There's actually multiple reason/possibility most of these stories are medieval European stories where in Europe yes the North is colder than the South
"Why duke of the North?" When I hear North i immediately think of the cold part of Canada (where I live) Europeans are the same and for Korean it's somewhat similar but there's also the Mongol that where North and north korea hence associating the harsh to the North
Therefore was born this characterization a cold territory with an even colder duke for the Fl to melt his heart
A dangerous territory so that the Ml can appear as dependent/op fighter that the kingdom need and so the others can't take away from the north
In the end the "Grand duke of the North" is a character type and other duke's in pther stories don't have that title as duke is a title on itself
Thank you for saying this, I was just thinking what the hell bro is on about, did they miss their geography/biology classes or what
I grew up in the Arctic Circle in Europe, so v much up North. We don't have polar bears, but we do have decent wildlife (ie. Arctic foxes which are endangered, a lot of interesting arctic bird species imo, European lynxes, moose, reindeer (which are somewhat domesticated), and more. We also have the regular brown bear ofc. We also have cows who are specifically more used to the colder climate). I was actually really happy to see actual reindeer used in some manhwa for the Duke of the North :'D
Anyway, yeah, ended up rambling about Arctic nature at the enf, feel free to skip reading if you want **
To add to the general discussion, ppl gotta remember to think about where these stories are from/who created them and what their perspectives are. A lot of people have already pointed out the specifics depending on one's location. Esp if you're american/from NA, Arctic America and Arctic Eurasia have similarities, but they also have their differences - even Arctic Europe and Arctic Asia have those, despite being on the same continent, especially culturally ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
**I've also spent a fair amount of time really high North, the Northern edge of Europe/Fennoscandia, and while there is a lack of growth of things like trees, it's often times partially due to the climate and partially due to the higher elevation. This might be bias with how there is the mountain range that stretches across Norway, while it no longer being exactly mountains on tje eastern side but more like massive hills. Some places with lower elevation have actual forests and trees (mostly birch and pine), and the higher you go, the less of that you get. Usually I get greeted by more and more birch trees, until it's just that, and when you go higher, the birch trees become more like bushes than actual trees. Despite being barren, we still have all 4/8 seasons (depending on your perspective, I find dividing the seasons into 8 with the transition periods much more accurate than only the 4 - ie. winter, spring-winter, spring, spring-summer, summer, etc. Could be bc of the environment I grew up with, and how long all the transition periods are), and it gets plenty coloutful in the summer and spring. Things do grow, just more slowly and not as tall ad they do in the south. **
(Thanks for anyone reading this long-ass comment lol, hope you found it interesting)
One more thing, something that a lot of people forget about these Northern territories is how dark it can get in the winter and how bright it is in the summer. Like where I grew up, I never felt like the sun had the same setting time, but it was constantly changing as the days went by. The only exception being the summer and having the sky be bright 24/7 for multiple weeks (4-6 weeks), even more the more north one would go. To anyone confused, the sum would "set" and "rise" from the horizon, but only the sun itself would disappear from view (for a few hours at least) - the sky is stil bright. It's called midnight sun, look it up!
In contrast, in the winter it can get really dark. I believe in my hometown the shortest daylight is a few hours (and usually it's still cloudy and dark durimg it), but more north you go, the darkness can be continuous for multiple days, if not weeks. Can't remember the specifics rn.
Adding to all this that the main thing that bothers me is the title "duke" instead of "marquis". That was an actual title and they ruled the more distant territories. The reason they were given so much power (sometimes even considered equal to a duke, depending on time period/location) is BECAUSE they protected the borders. They are basically treated as a glorified leader of an army. At least, that's my understanding of it. It's been a while since I studied the various different nobilities across various countries. But yes, they were very important because they were basically the armies for the royalty. The royalty only paid them a stipend, I think, but the rest mainly came from their own pockets, which could drain their resources quickly. What I never understand is the stories where they have an army in the north that is spectacular, good armor and supplies, enough food, etc but are supposedly poor too. That's hecking expensive. Have they not seen the trading price of eggs???
Is it kind of generic? Yeah. But it’s done WELL. Like the FL isn’t stupid and when they call her clever it isn’t a protagonist buff for everything to go well, like she’s ACTUALLY smart and made good, well -thought out plans that work because they’re NOT RELYING ON EVERYTHING TO GO PERFECTLY. It’s the little things. Like WE know she’s the real one, but it’s good that she ALSO had this suspicion from
The beginning and was looking into it for proof. Her older sister too, like it makes sense she wasn’t good at managing an estate in the OG novel when there was zero parents to teach her and literally no information on where to begin. But she’s competent when she’s taught, which again, makes sense because she ACTUALLY LEARNED SOMETHING, not like magically received information and now she’s a genius. Chemistry between the ML and FL is good too; is he still a little fucked in the head? Yeah. But does he acknowledge this and try to do everything to woo her because he’s in love with her and doesn’t force her into anything is literally just honest with her the whole time? YES. Who cares if he’s a bit obsessive when he treats her like he WANTS her to be his life partner and supports her and lets her do what she wants? He’s not obsessed; he’s in love. And that’s what I love about this too. Also, even if she knows he likes her it’s valid that she doesn’t know he’s in love with her, when she hasn’t seen him in so long and they JUST reunited. Also the pacing. Thank GOD I don’t have to read 48 chapters of random drama-filler and internal crisis, like thank FUCK.
Genuinely don’t understand. Like, it’s fine to have a type of guy? Our MC literally is open and honest about what he likes, what he wants, and what he’s going to do. If our cutie of a top had an issue with it, he would’ve said so? I don’t like that they call him piggy or other insulting nicknames due to his weight, but he is indeed crazy massive. Not in terms of just weight either; he’s 6’7” (supposedly by the manhwa) and he’s chubby, which probably makes him look even bigger. That’s neither bad nor good, it just is. Doesn’t mean people should be calling him cruel nicknames. But he changed because he wanted to look better for someone he likes, which a lot of people do, regardless on if it’s a huge change like his in terms of diet and lifestyle, or if it’s just wearing nicer clothing and dressing up so you look cuter. Nothing wrong with that.
Additionally, I’m actually happy he lost weight. Forget about the looking hotter or whatever, it’s true that if you’re overweight you have a much higher chance of having heart disease, cancer, complications in childbirth, complications in surgeries, shorter lifespans, etc. It’s fine to be chubby, personally I don’t really care, but I do get concerned when people are clearly beyond that and overweight or obese, since (at least in America) it’s literally a product of big corporations to fuck over the population. No one should ever be ashamed of their body or judge the person underneath it solely on how a body is presented or initially looks, but I do think we should aim for a society where the health standard is positive (versus creating negative feelings and shaming people into doing things like losing weight).
Basically, I think everyone who wants the ML when he’s chubby is making sense, but also the MC wanting the ML to lose weight makes sense. There’s such a thing as toxic positivity, so yes people love yourself but please avoid using a positive self body image to justify poor health decisions.
I for one am proud of the ML for making the effort and doing such a great job, considering the outcome.
I dunno about others but I love it. It’s cute, she’s cute, the ML is uber cute, and all her fricking kids are cute. The plot isn’t too deep but it’s enough to create tension, the ML isn’t a good bastard and you can actually like him, our MC is a bit of a cotton candy head (literally and metaphorically) but honestly that’s what makes her cute so whatever. I also love the fact we get like 20 chapters of family fluff instead of it ending with just a hint of kids, and that the kids have personalities too. It’s like fantasy slice of life, which I didn’t think I’d enjoy but definitely do
One of the few stories it makes sense that the reincarnated villainess is trying to follow the novel. The ogFL is her friend, the one who defended her over all her lives. Liberata loves her, and never wanted her to die. So being told that her pursuing happiness means Leonie has to die, of COURSE she isn’t going to pursue the ML unless it’s a means to Leonie’s survival (which is exactly what ends up happening). Also, she’s clearly not in her right mind and not only knows this but states it multiple times. She’s doing whatever she can just to keep the world (Leonie) from ending, yet she’s a normal human being with extreme trauma who loves her friend and is falling in love but can’t do anything if she wants everyone to survive (except herself). I love that all of the main characters have so much personality, I love that even though they have their faults they’re still good people who we can enjoy reading their story and cheering them on, I love that none of them are OP and just doing what they can as humans, and I absolutely love the friendship between Leonie and Liberata, and the fact that despite all those countless deaths and lifetimes that friendship never broke.

This…has no right being as good as it is…
