Taira is the most relatable to me. And I have big respect to him that he tried to change his appearance at least that's a start not everyone want to admit they feeling inferior and do something about it. his character also shows that someone with inferiority complex can still have a lot of friends and getting along with people although it seems still to be difficult for him internally. more respect. unfortunately not everyone lucky to be surrounded by friendly and sociable people.
basically the atmosphere of this whole manga is really good. they have such good environment where people accepted individual differences, tried to understand and improve each other, or just take it as it instead of putting down, making fun or comparing each other. what a fluffy community. i am quite envious.

lol am i the only one who still enjoying this?
they just have a difference in personality, belief, and upbringing. that part is pretty realistic for a couple. they're not 100% toxic or 100% fluffy. love doesn't solve all problem, and there's no need for lover to be 100% in love.
I don't fault jihoo for not understanding inwoo unwillingness to talk to his mom. however it's better for inwoo to talk to his mom to *move on* bc it's literally the source of his trauma. if he didn't try, it means inwoo will never put effort to get better and that's also unfair to jihoo who began to take a toll on his own mental health just to be considerate towards inwoo.
Did you all forget all the sacrifice that jihoo has been doing for inwoo? he literally has the most characters development. He almost lost his family. Just bc he didn't, and just bc it's also good for him, it doesn't mean he didn't take any risk at all.
Meanwhile what inwoo did for jihoo was smaller in comparison. ofc it's not a competition however it's strange to be mad at jihoo just bc he didn't understand a traumatized lover, he's not a professional mental health practitioner.
you guys don't know how difficult it is to stay with someone unhealthy like inwoo. it's literally shown in this chapter that jihoo lost a lot of his love towards food, just to be considerate towards inwoo. many things he did might be not the best thing to do but it's easy to see that bc we are third party and saw everything from all pov. but it's usually very difficult to see for the people themselves.
anyway i understand both party and don't blame anyone. I really like how real this webtoon feel than the usual love save all.

it's not that i dont understand at all but the most important thing to make me understand is missing: the motive.
why does the imperial faction wanted selie to die? don't they also have mage in their rank??
my guess is they treat outsiders, mages not under imperials as a threat or that they wanted to control the world.
however that motive is too shallow imo and if that's the case it's better to just make it clear rather than making it all mysterious and underwhelming later.
or maybe it's actually already hinted a lot but scattered around which make it difficult for me to piece together.

not being able to understand the motive is also because I don't understand their standing.
i thought the mage faction under selie was universally recognized, something that should be free from any politic. but what is this happening recently?
what's the imperial faction? are they just one country or something akin like world government?
if they are just one country it should be easy for selie to cut interaction with them if they tried to harm her first, or using her connection with other countries to retaliate or something.
if they're world government then what selie doing right now is basically went against the world however it doesn't seem any first class mages mind doing so at all and it seems their loyalty (or duty) are only with selie (or the rank of first class mage). so it doesn't make sense that the imperial faction is world government.

basically, in my mind, what have been happening doesn't make sense, so it's difficult to get immersed further and concentrate to take all the details.
yeah i know i should reread, but i originally read frieren for a more relaxing story not politic. so i purposely don't take note of the political details. i wish this arc will get better.

Fr...I get the reason with arcmage minus...but serie is still gray area feels like victim from political dispute...at least they give us the background story or the emperor is such scumbag villain thirst for power, this is the reason I hate assassin.. they're such dumb talented fellow just follow the order...I think you can just focus on frieren then... don't think too much on shitty politic or reason behind assassination... just follow frieren journey

The Empire is actually just a small nation now. It was active back in Flamme's era but slowly loose it's control over the years. They are only known now as old country or the 1st magic country. So their mages or authorities exist within that country while Selie's Continental Magic Association is active globally and even partnered with the Magic Academy.
I think they wanted to get rid Selie's faction so they could expand their influence again. Cuz according to Denken, there used to be a mage organization but got disbanded 30-40yrs ago after Selfie established her own.

If it's really true they're small nation...but their arm power is crazy...I mean that's assassin all top notch just look at how they're work...but still I feel bad for serie.. she defo got no interest in expanding political power, she just loves her disciples. Btw is this empire is the one empire hero himel come from or not? I really don't get it...not understand why they got beef for elf

The Himmel part is still unspecified. The Empire was located in North and near the territory of Demon King castle. If Himmel's party started in empire, they could just directly head to the demon king instead of taking journey from south to north.
Well, the Empire is the first unified nation after all. It was said that they are the ones whose active in fighting the demon king's army, so their technology & man power are very much advanced.

oh I see thank you for the explanation. that motive to have bigger influence/power is reasonable.
Then the problem now is Selie motive. but actually motive can be cleared out later.
then it's probably wolrd building problem. i don't know how much this empire have hold in the world. i dont know from which country selie organization hail from, even if it works globally it should start from a place right? but if the organization is not loyal/under the country it originated from (since it looks like that), then as a neutral global organization, there should be a deal made to not attack each other.
then this empire is either breaking that or not part of the deal in the first place. it will also make sense if selie organization although supposedly neutral, doesn't have such political deal and really a grey area (as someone said above).. so it's understandable a country will find them as a threat. yeah i think this last explanation is more likely for now. But tbh they're too prestigious to be in grey area.

I'm not saying gray area in scam way...but more political reason...selie is elf from mythical era, she's too old to care insignificant human life... but it's different to the empire stand...I read a lot of this kind king/president/governor afraid with powerful, resourcesfull person with no one keep selie in check...I mean she can't be my friend, I can't control selie. So just get rid of her, I got my trump card, I'm arrogant think I can win.
And you can see Denken is talent selie want badly but can't do anything when he go to empire and vice versa Denken can't be first mage class till he retired...so you can see, tho selie make a town/prestigious organization but empire and selie like water and oil... just ask selie why she got no diplomatic relationship with the nation to be her killer

it's always funny to see him trying so hard to avoid BL flag as if he had a big trauma about it.
i mean he could be confident in his straightness and relax a bit! but as expected he's an expert! in a (japanese) BL world even if you don't want it, love will be forced on you, if you know what i mean. like relationship that star with noncon, although in the end it seems everyone will be in love, it's still better to avoid it i guess!

nah that kind of synopsis exist, in fact i saw a lot of those that giving a lot of important information that can be used as a good plot twist. it's should be deliberate bc there are exist readers, like me, who only come bc of the synopsis. i am totally here for a fake relationship where mc will lie that he love ml so he can lower ml's guard and run away from him but still ended up with him lol. i am totally here for a stalker boyfriend.
i wont be here if i was told that this was just "mc gets in relationship with a janitor who help him from a stalker, but is this a coincidence? nope you gotta read to find out!" nah no way, that will sound like a clickbait and it will turn me off. and the mystery will only frustrate a type of readers like me and abandon it. compare it to readers coming in knowing exactly what they came from, they won't be as quick to leave

the current pacing of the story isn't suitable with how long the waiting time to read new chapter is. the chapter is short too... it's better to camp and read 10 chapters at once. But I can't help to always open up a new chapter once it uploaded damnit.
it would be wonderful to see this story translation uploaded completely someday
