Ahhh, it’s such a lost cause. It was an ok story over all, but I really liked the second lead. There’s no way the bottom deserves him to begin with, but maybe if he confessed sooner they would’ve had a better chance? Idk it just sucked overall.
The top in this story kinda sucks, he’s a bully at first. Whatever, it’s not even worth like a vent for the story cuz you kinda expect this story to go where it’s gonna go.
And then they have to go make the 2nd top suck a lil cus ya know everyone likes him a lil too much. Might as well.
This story is very human, and it can come to the frustration of some, and the excitement of others.
The way that it is written is both good and bad.
More good than bad if I had to decide, but the frustration of his humanity won’t cease.
The top shows to have a certain level of maturity that the bottom lacks, and not for not having it, but due to his past and his decisions he sort of lacks an emotional understanding from where he stands when they meet again.
They able to meet in the middle at some point in the story, which is where you finally FINALLY are able to breathe a sigh of relief, but of course there are still a lot of frustrating feelings left with all of the bottoms decisions and all the overwhelming love the top has for him. They have good communication up to a point, it takes a bit for the top to break into that. And then it goes back to 0 and we’re left to rebuilt it again because of unpacked traumas from the bottom once more.
The other instances I have to address is the top’s sheer will to hold onto this first love as fiercely as he did. Again it’s as endearing as it is frustrating. Sometimes seeing what he had to go through to get to it, it can leave you feeling like maybe he should’ve picked himself up at some point OR it was the most romantic thing a man could’ve done. He’s hot then he’s cold due to the constantly game of push and pull of the relationship but even when he’s cold there’s no denying that he came back. He was always going to come back. It was always him whether he was cold with him or not, because he still loved him, he just didn’t want to get hurt for what seemed like the umpteenth time by the same guy.
Either way it’s all about perspective with this story really and how you feel about certain types of people.
Ok this is just a pure personal rant you ain’t gotta be here for it or agree - story is great I want to start off by saying that, but.
Listen yeah I get it that they get a happy ending, they’re all adults here, this is how relationships function, yada yada yada.
I do not like reading stories like this where one ML has a situationship/FWB going on and we can see it (like they’re actively in it).
Like i don’t mind stories where it’s already passed or you see them as acquaintances and they come by or some shit, but this? OHHH HOW MY BLOOD BOILS. Ughhhh.
Like that phone call??? Foul. Straight up foul. That would be months on the couch and constantly brought up in fights.
It does become irrelevant at some point, of course like any relationship like this does, but it still sooo infuriating.
just don’t like the bottom as a person. He’s the WOOORSTTT. Baby top, pick urself up, pls for Christ sake. Yes, he needs help but you’re not a therapist, get him one. Should’ve been step one first and foremost. Maybe revisit the relationship once he’s better.
Kept seeing this around and decided to give it a read - 9/10 chapters r just PWP. But it’s GOOD. Like genuinely geeking, it’s so good when a guy is blushy and genuinely unhinged rather than cold and like he’s not even enjoying it.
And the body switch? Chefs kiss. I hope they keep switching cuz she truly is the degenerate to end all degenerates and she DESERVES it.
I liked the story a lot, actually it was really good. They’re are some things that can get a bit much in the story - without spoiling - but it was oddly cute for demons and stuff. I liked that he was blessed or whatever, I just sort of wish they would’ve gone more into it?
His parents being religious was funny, but never seeing them again was sort of a bummer. He said he was raised with love at some point in the story, but we never get to see it and then at some point he also gets called out for sort of pulling away slightly. Not that he cared for his parents any less, but like… cmon not even a single scene with his parents? Though I’m not like saying they should’ve been shoe horned in there it just seems so odd considering how much they used the talismans and stuff.
And the side characters were so good too! I looooveedd his friend, I have such a soft spot for good ass side characters. He was such a fucking champ for taking things with stride, truly.
The two MLs were really enjoyable too - honestly I had no complaints on their personalities. They were funny and extremely entertaining. The backstory was nice too, i think for the top it was more satisfying. I wish we would’ve gotten a bit more for the bottom.
But like he said, what matters is the present I suppose.
I’m seeing a lot of spoilers for the novels where they seem to have switched it up a lot for the manhwa and tbh I’m all here for it, but if that’s the case than they NEED to show what happened with Ray’s empire and his brother.
Like did he get killed by his brother? Ray loves his country and we can’t just let it slide like that, we need to see what becomes of it and if it like stayed in good standing with his brother.
I feel like there’s a lot they could’ve cooked with that.
Aside from that, overall I did like the story. I didn’t even think bout the fact it felt a lil fast pace. I think the only thing that did it for me was that Ray never felt like he enjoyed being gay T-T. Homie was always going through the motions like his life depended on it which is kinda does.
At the end he seems to think of Jiskar as a… possession? That’s not quite the word, it’s kinda hard to put into words, but a twisted kind of love ig for him.
And Jiskar straight up is just obsessed to the point he dgaf what Ray does to him at that point.
Sometimes side characters r just so delectable. Before I even get into my thoughts, I have to hype Dojun up, he was so lovely the entire time. Such a good friend, a good brother, a good person. The capability to have such a level head with a stupid asshole like the brother and see him for the stupid broken asshole he was, AND help the Top when he needed was so sweet? He’s just so good. So amazing.
Anyway, this story was amazing. Genuinely liked it a lot. Truly a tell of how complex human emotions are. Cuz even though a lot of people in this story are raging cunts, they all got their little redemption in their own way. Not everyone deserved it quite frankly, but the MLs had way kinder hearts than I’ve seen many other leads have before.
Now this is going to be personal - this doesn’t take away from the story in my opinion it was really good, HOWEVER.
My only gripe with this story was the age gap. I’m not a stickler about age typically, I can handle a 10 year age gap, but I realized that this was truly it. AT MOST. A 10 year age gap is my fucking breaking point.
But no.
I legit read this story with the widest mind I could becuz sometimes it’s just hard to think bout the fact he was 11 and the other one was 28. Like for Christ sake. I know they don’t have anything “going on” in the past, but the romantic connotations are still there and you can’t pretend they aren’t becuz the Top is in love. It is what it is.
Even in the future, the age gap is wild.
Personal opinion - It would’ve been better if the ML was 16-17 (with the ML 28 still) cuz even then the age gap would’ve been crazy, but not fcuking that crazy. It’s not like you’re any less of a child just becuz ur a teenager. And then back at 38 and the ML being 26. They’re still the feeling of “oh they’re young” when ur dating with an age gaps like that but at least it’s not too weird.
*spoilers*
I did like that he forgot him to keep growing up as a child should after fixing everything he needed to fix, becuz that really was chefs kiss, and that they found each other again was so cute.
I love the alpha he’s so green, even with the age difference? Like yeah I mean it’s quite the gap, but he’s so respectiful to Dan it legit makes me so soft. He’s so willing to bend backwards for his needs and wants too.
And poor Dan, I felt sooooo bad. He deserved better since his first set of parents. What pieces of shit, goood who tf abandons a kid just cuz they got divorced?
Garbage.
It was so sweet to see him finally be told none of it was his fault and finally make a stand for himself later on too.
Aside from that yes the art style change was jarring as ALL hell but you get over it if you like the story enough.
Listen I like my fair share of pretty psychos but tikt*k you have failed me.
I’m not gonna knock ya for reading it of course, this is all just personal preference.
This guy is a certified prick who absolutely has no redemption is sight, there’s no way he deserves more then licking straight shit off of the shoe in which the bottom stepped on.
I don’t care who the fujos sends, this guy does not deserve even a semblance of hype.
There’s a difference between a guy who’ll rearrange your guts while screwing you and a guy who has no regard for your guts while screwing you :/
Again, there’s no saint here. Pretty psycho tops I like, but pretty CARING psycho tops.
Pretty LOVING psycho tops.
The obsessive kind.
The ones who maybe wanna make u bleed but from bondage and grabbing on too tight, not fUCKING PUNCHING AND FUCKING NO LUBE.
I love this story so much. I’m a sucker for office romances in general but like, I just love this pathetic top. For starters, you really got get past the first few chapters to get to the real YEARNER that he is.
He’s a lil stupid at first, but you just gotta give him time to marinate and be fully cooked.
The bottom is the one who hurts a little, but the friends say it point-blank why he is the way that he is. Aside from that you can’t help but empathize with him and cheer for him when he grows a lil bit of backbone sometimes, even if life continues to push him don harshly.
As a couple when they came together - THEY WERE THE CUTEST.
I loved them so much. Both equally simps for each other, truly beautiful.
There seems to be some plot points that were thrown out, if you read the author’s end notes she does discuss some things that were kinda left up in the wind, but tbh I didn’t really mind them. They weren’t all too heavy to the plot, and overall I enjoyed the story.
Im not sure if it’s a good thing or a bad thing. I genuinely can’t tell if I liked it or hated it? I mean to an extent I got the direction and I appreciated the commentary on gender and the dysphoria that can happen when your younger.
And by god yES YES does your sexuality and being change when you’re learn about sex way early, that is so important. Of course you’re not going to read a lot about it seriously in many stories especially not manga/manhwa/manhua/etc.
But here comes my criticism - now this is in no way taking away from the writers own experiences, this is very clearly vent art more than anything - however, there was a bit of disconnect with what it means to be a woman. This is 100% from a man’s point of view and I’m not gonna be as harsh as others, but there was things that just weren’t clicking in the story. And you kinda catch a feel for why in the author’s notes too.
Again, not trying to discredit the author for their personal experiences but it really does make you sigh as a woman at how they never stop viewing you (even when they feel like they share/empathize with your plight) as a sex object.
The short form, long type manhwa was so cute. I loved it. It was so funny too , the slap stick type of comedy with the hyper active vs the cat type was really adorable.
Super simple read and quick too, def recommend it.
The story is good. I love office romances, they’re my favorite. The premise is interesting too, kinda like those story writing prompts so it’s nice to see it written out.
They’re also so cute, both couples are. However, by every facet there is, they manage to be super frustrating.
I know there’s no other “stakes” to keep the story going, but the slight misconceptions and non movements done by the main couple or like the side couple is like???? Cmon… talk. Communicate. He clearly. CLEARLY likes you?
That is of course just a personal complaint, that was only a slight road bump to my enjoyment of the story.
I kinda liked it tbh, like before I go into what I felt about the characters personalities and stuff, story wise it was kind of a bop.
It’s like the story in itself wasn’t the S&M play, it was the premise of the top having been in love with the bottom for SO LONG and having clung onto it for that amount of time.
Careful to not overstep and scare a person away, which is kind of what u do when u want to approach an - excuse me for the delicate use of topic - but an abuse/trauma victim.
Now clearly the bottom has his issues, but he’s not a bad person per se. He’s just extremely guarded, and yes it gets incredibly aggravating to see him push the top away for so long, but it’s becuz of his childhood trauma (which we see he still sort of has towards the end with his mom and stuff) and his current ex abuse and trauma that he is the way that he is.
The difference being he learned to accept the support and love from the top.
The S&M play sometimes seemed disjointed from the story, but at the same time it made sense? Since the bottom was so desperate to cling onto a semblance of control in his on way and then top was just trying to give him what he wanted. He ended up playing with him even if it wasn’t exactly something he was into, and idk I just found it interesting they didn’t drop it at the end.
Becuz I do see a lot of stories that start with the S&M play as a “coping” mechanism for a lot of the characters and then they drop it, so it was sort of nice? To see them stick to it cuz then it wasn’t just a form of self harm for the bottom.
Overall, I liked the story. Now PERSONALLY speaking - I did feel incredibly bad for the top at times and wished he would’ve done something during those years to like… not cling too hard, but as the pointed out in the story. 1. He’s weird too. Whether u see it in a good way or bad way is up to yall. 2. If he did it during those times where the bottom had his guard up, he would’ve continued being the way he was.
To start I did like it story-wise, so like even though the characters were super morally gross and shit I enjoyed the direction and stuff, but to go in depth - it was really hard to get through the first half. Even more through half than the story Heesuh was piece of shit.
He craved so hard to get Jinmoo to have an inferiority complex, but out of anyone he had the biggest complex against Jinmoo. What he needed was therapy, nothing else.
Show me his parents cuz they need to be backhanded for raising a brat.
The only decent thing heesuh did was feel even the slightest bit of guilt and tell him what he did, and even then everything he had done up to a point was so infuriating you’re left just reeling from the fact that he’s such a big piece of shit?
I’ve seen my fair share of red flags, it was refreshing to see the bottom being a raging red flag, but the fact he never changed was what had me thrown entirely off.
He was consistent with his personality and I mean this as real as it gets. He changed only slightly for Jinwoo since it’s clear he was as obsessed with him as Jinmoo was with Heesuh.
And as for Jinmoo, well… idk what to think about him cuz I think the entire time I just felt really ducking bad for him.
It wasn’t bad, I think it was pretty ok actually. Allen was a dick at first but he’s like every guy and then Ren was just an idiot in like, but I’m glad they got a happy ending. The side stories were a lil embarrassing lol.
Eric despite being a lil odd sometimes in some scenes was actually pretty nice, yeah there was like some perversion but he has a crush and like never pushed any boundaries which I wish we would’ve gotten a side story for him instead.
Ughhh ok I like the premise, I like the story, and I liked the characters. TBH enough to forgive a lot of the things I usually don’t like personally however, I do have my gripes with this story cuz what Haram did was v trashy and quite disrespectful to Hwi tbh.
Before i even go into it, I do wanna say i like them tho. I like their relationship and how they come out. They’re cute but…
Each to their own when it comes to relationships I say, every person sets their own boundaries and without going into spoilers - these two never set any even when they started sleeping with each other.
However, it’s kinda foul to like… so what he did with that event the next day with Hwi.
And then somehow, someway I ended up even feeling bad for Mr. Han? Cuz like yeah he was a slut but at the end of the day he ended up leaving his situationships and earnestly pursing haram. Yeah he realized haram liked him but did he owe him to make a move when haram himself was hesitant? I think the where Mr. Han went wrong was the dickish coldness he had at the beginning, but when he opened up a little and was honest about his intentions with Haram, haram was a FUCKING PRICK in this situation.
NOW SPOILERS*
Cuz who sleeps with someone who has a crush on u? Or is being genuine in their feelings to you in that instance?AND ur going on a date the next day with an ENTIRELY different person?
Oh goood lord, haram I know you were a virgin but that doesn’t make u a certified buffoon to lack common decency.
Cmon haram I liked you, but u really fumbled there and hard. Be so glad Hwi didn’t hold that over u cuz I would’ve (wouldn’t have even dated him) - but now that I think about it did he even ever tell him?
Literally the entire plot of the story is just “hey yall should talk to each other.” I feel like towards the end of it they lost some steam to the story which is kinda sad cuz it was really cute. I wanted to see what was up with some plot points they had, but ig it just didn’t flesh out. But overall it wasn’t that bad. It was ok, decent read overall.
I mean it kinda is kinda isn’t. It’s so cute. I love it. I would also go for someone like Kang if I was given the chance, falling in a second.
I also like how he turned equally into a simp too, the genuine adoration between the two of them is cute.
I love mature romances.
the pacing was great, the narrative was well done, it wasn’t boring despite the setting (though personally I always like office romances), the age gap wasn’t uncomfortable (he’s an adult yall be so for real if you’re in ur 20s you’d date someone in their 30s if you wanna), their conversations were great - I liked that despite him falling hard and fast he had the consciousness to back up sometimes and think even if he was a bit to jump the gun. They can communicate it tho which was nice.
Idk they’re just adorable.
I mean I liked how the story was progressing, but I really really wish they would’ve expanded more on his reason for being as jumpy as he was on relationships and his personality. It’s kind of to a detriment to the story - I’ll expand a bit more in the bottom with spoilers - but like without it, he just seems really closed off even as a reader. Aside from that, the story was very ok. I can’t give it like an amazing review but it was a decent read.
The ML goes from 0 to a 100 with no real reason?
Like I LIKE U SO IF U LEAVE ME ILL KMS? (But In smaller more condensed version than other BL tropes)
Hm ok, but why?
You didn’t really seem to like him that much even a bit ago.
*spoilers*
And even with his small trauma explanation it doesn’t seem like it’s expanded on. Like, tbh as the reader u can do more digging urself and maybe have ur own theorizing as to why he was the way he was. The terrorizing from his nanny, the semi neglectful reactions from his parents (even tho it seems like the teetered at times), his incapability to handle his own emotions, but at the end these are all just theories cuz she was just a passing thing?
Nothing else is brought upon this and it’s like well… I guess his trauma made him not wanna be steady with anyone ig.
And an entire personal gripe - I did not like the other ML’s chasing, like yeah he seemed to show some extent that he like you, but at some point pick urself off the ground ur not setting a good example to others rn :/ I mean good fr u that he did come back.
