There’s such a weird tonal dissonance going on with this manga. The art-style and pacing is so light-hearted and cute but the actual subject matter of this story is about as dark as it can get.
Every time I’m starting to enjoy the fluffier aspects of this manga I am reminded that the main character is literally a teenaged boy who was tricked into becoming a sexdroid and lost his human rights as a result. It creates a weird feeling of emotional whiplash that I can’t quite tell if I enjoy.
I am very interested to see where it goes.

You know how some manga will get extras that are posted after the main story is complete? What if this updates and it’s a flash forward to Goura and Iori even further in the future. What if the extra actually shows Goura dying before Iori since it’s stated that half-beasts generally have shorter life spans.
I don’t know if this will happen but it was mentioned so it’s possible.

I bet you that Kaneo’s half-brother is in love with Oikawa. He’s probably gonna make lie even harder for Kaneo when he finds out that Oikawa’s been hanging around him.
I bet Oikawa feels like Kaneo “stole” his dad from him or something stupid like that. There’s going to be a line where he’s like “You always steal everything from me!” And then he’s gonna punch Kaneo. I just know it.

"There’s going to be a line where he’s like “You always steal everything from me!” And then he’s gonna punch Kaneo." That scenario had me laughing out loud! I can totally see it happen...
Evil half brother is evil.

I think people are forgetting that Kou is literally only treating Yukinori like this. It’s not that he’s hard to please or super strict, he simply has something against Yukinori and is making life difficult for him on purpose.
Like I get that some bosses might be hard on newbies in order to get them to improve but there’s nothing constructive about what Kou’s doing. He dislikes Yukinori and doesn’t like that he’s dating his brother so he’s being a dick.
We also have Maki as a point of comparison. He was hard on Yukinori too at first but he never reached the level of genuine malice that’s Kou has.

Seriously, what he did bordered on harassment and abuse of authority. He just kept on rejecting Yukinori’s blueprint while giving absolutely no feedback.
He has no professionalism whatsoever and is allowing his personal feelings to influence his work relationships and is unfairly targeting Yukinori due to a personal vendetta.
Also, what a pretentious fuckhead. He’s known Yukinori for like five days and he already thinks that he knows everything about him. Hes such a judgemental person.
I hope his brother talks some sense into him.
I feel really bad for Yukinori. Everyone expects him to be exactly like his Grandfather even though he’s a completely different person.

But just because it happens frequently doesn't make it a right/nice thing to do...

I’ve been avoiding this for a long time since frankly the art is not to my taste and I heard it’s kind of rapey but I eventually started reading this and...
Why does the Uke look like he’s ten? Like I know he’s an adult but he looks like an elementary schooler and it’s really distracting.

it's shota disguised as yaoi, so PEDO material. I would stay away if I were you
I’ve noticed that a lot of people are comparing these two mangas and I’ve come to a pretty sudden realization about why I like Killing Stalking but not this.
Killing Stalking is a hard read for sure but Hogu Hagyeongsu was just constant misery for nothing but misery’s sake. Kyung-soo also starts the story in a fairly okay place. He’s not over what happened to him but he’s healing which just makes what happens to him later on even more unbearable. The audience wants Kyung-soo to be happy and speaking from personal experience, I stopped reading simply because I hated watching him suffer for seemingly no reason. Kyung-soo never really felt like he had agency or freedom and to some extent I believe we all knew who he’d end up with.
The protagonist in Killing Stalking basically starts at rock bottom. He’s a twenty-something adult with no friends who’s only hobby is stalking someone he’s never even spoke to. The situation he ended up in was no doubt horrible but it was a situation he got himself into. The audience is also torn on whether or not they want Bum to escape because really, what is there for him to go back to? His uncle?
I also think this story having multiple Love interests really does not work to its advantage. I think Sangwoo is tolerable in Killing Stalking both because his actions are never justified and because we’re never given a better alternative.
In short Hogu Hagyeongsu is basically misery porn. Kyung-soo and by extension, the audience, are almost never given a break. The fact that Kyung-soo ends up with his rapist and everything is not really forgiven but drastically downplayed is another huge slap in the face.
