Hello! No, Ash isn't a vietnam Vet, but there's a lot of reference about the war in the beginning, and someone related to Ash went and fought in vietnam. However the story is set most of the time in a 1980s New York. It's made to be as realistic as possible, with street gangs,races, cruelty, violence. This manga will forever stays in my heart, deep into my bones, I truly recommend it !

For those confused on why it's better to read for free on webtoon, it's because while other authors make money by us paying for comics (which is why this site exists, not everyone can afford that) authors like this one make their money from ad revenue from simply clicking on the comic. And it's still free. So please if you cant support authors on lezhin, paid ones on webtoon, etc etc, then the very least you can do is the ones you read that are free, read them on their original platform.
