Great, not the absent trashy father returning for money or something. He must have heard about the land going on sale. Poor MC. He's strong and a quick thinker so in a way he's gonna be okay confronting him but still, it's always him alone against troubles. Hope the director get his act together and use that crude, rude and violent behaviour of his to be an ally to MC.
Wtf... A lot happened in this chapter that it felt so rushed!
Sunbae's trash to really go and try to blackmail Yuan. Saying ahjussi sleeps with children?? Wtf, Yuan is not a child Sunbae ffs. In Sunbae's eyes Yuan is innocent and pure. He's the one who is infantilizing Yuan because he liked him having that lovesick gaze on him. Creep.
I hope Ahjussi clears Yuan's fears.
I loved this. We saw pain, real struggle, character development, many feelings (love, hate, sadness, loneliness)...There's A LOT of emotional violence in this story. For both mains. I think it's an accurate portrait on how it's not easy nor fast to break the circle of dependence. I actually liked the love story between Taeho and Chunwoo with all their wrongs and flaws. Taeho's quite deep of a character but he didn't fight for Chunwoo, he just gave up when he saw Ho-in in the picture. That golden opportunity to finally end things for good with Chunwoo. A coward, really. They really loved each other so much but it was doomed because Taeho's issues. But Chunwoo it's quite realistic too. He's very, very flawed. He can't shake off his love nor trust him, but the desire to be together runs so deep in him, he loved him too much and lost himself waiting for him to finally make a decision.
I kinda get why he forced himself on Taeho that last time, not only to rectify that he didn't felt the same anymore but as a form of self-harm and punishment. He was his first love but not a real one. He was very unhappy and broken at the realization that everything was over but at the same time something switched inside him and the weight of that situation, ending things with Taeho, felt minimal in comparison to breaking his promise to Ho-In, breaking his heart (again), betray him one last time... It was very emotional. I never hated Chunwoo, I navigated through him and his emotions. It was painful but it was the right way to enjoy his growth and see how much he changed. And he changed beautifuly.
Ho-In was another character that I really liked. There's not much to say about him because he's pretty straightfoward with his emotions and desires, and that face and personality helped in making him a likeable person, but it was nice to see a ML that just pours all of himself out there for better or for worse. And he took some serious damage in the process. He suffered like never before because all for him was a first, to fall in love that deeply and helplessly, and it was very, very intense and raw. The heartbrake was really difficult to read too. A lot of rage because he felt played even if he knew and accepted what he was getting into. He wasn't ready for the reality of Chunwoo's baggage but even after all that, he still loved him. They're very toxic at that time. He's not perfect, he has a temper but that's his way of showing that part of him he tries so hard to contain for the sake of being likeable and avoid conflict, which is the core of his personality and, ironically, what changed his life because he fell in love with, at that time, a very conflicted person.
I'm glad the side stories showed more about how their obsessive love is growing and growing every day. The end of the main story wasn't enough. It needed it more to fully enjoy this story and realize that they really love each other very deeply, maniacally even. They learnt how to overcome their problems and just enjoy themselves. They're such freaks lol
It's not a easy story to read, it's very complex but done right. I hope more people give this a chance and read it with open mindness.
Now, must wait for Woojin and (Y)itae's own love story someday and, who knows, Taeho's.
.
They're finally showing us their past. Sungtaek really has very deep family issues that I hope explains his situation a little bit better. Still a freak for Norman, that doesn't change. Both are freaks for each other because Norman keeps him around and really likes their intimate moments.
Spoilers
But, with Sungtaek's anxiety, abandonment issues, attachment issues, being a shut in, neglected by his mother since childhood because he had some kind of speech condition or difficulty to express himself... And being compared to his little sunshine like brother. That mother did a number on Sungtaek too even if she tried to understand him just because he loved grandma more, I think. She was kind of an absent parent and the father well I blame him too because I think he just gave up on his family (Sungtaek) not sure about what happened to him. A lot is going to happen, very confusing stuff for the readers. Probably the'll hate Sungtaek more but I feel empathy for him. But, I recognize that his behaviour is problematic and questionable (the stalking, hidden secrets, the sexual urges, self-harming). All that stuff that makes him a creep. But well, I still like him because, true to be told, he's the only one of all the tops that really has a mental issue and not just some shitty ass behaviour like the others lol
yea i'm actually a huge fan of this author. she's really good at telling stories through limited povs and then offering the other side/backstory in a way that explains why people act the way they do - like these characters are super fleshed out. actually so much better than very surface "misunderstanding" tropes and steoretypes in most bls. and she's not going "this means they're a good person!" she just means that people are often unique products of their circumstances, including the way they love, and that being in love is TRULY seeing the ugliest parts of each other and still choosing to embrace them (and then to constantly negotiatie, work on stuff together).
the jaehyun backstory was also like this (him being a jerk stemmed from being insecure) but he's def less controversial than sungtaek haha
Exactlyyyy, it literally shows that compromise leads to long lasting relationships. They still accept the flaws of their partner, so I'm hoping that maybe when Seungtak's story comes out, people will be a bit more understanding. But see it as an "excuse" for his actions but rather just the circumstances led to this
This could have been a great tragedy with an open ending or just not be together at all. They could have been one of those miserable couples that never get their chance in love and just repeat the circle of pain. Not every story needs a happy ending, this had the potencial to be that kind. The forced happy ending is ridiculous with all damage the ML caused in past and present life.
This needs a side story with a different final.

Aw at least there is some progress between the father and the child. It was cute that they hugged and played together.
And it feels that rings and wonwoo are gonna get caught soon if the later decides to go where they are.
