He probably knows that if he fights back, they’ll spin the narrative and make him the perpetrator, and the fact he doesn’t have a set guardian will make it worse for him. (Sure he has the mc now, but before he didn’t and has probably just resided to taking the backseat)

I know it’s ridiculous to think too hard about it, but this is my second read and I have a theory.
First is everything that happened in the story did actually happen, except the end. Because at the end they were never in the same frame. I think that Eri before she died filmed that scene like a one sided conversation. And then the MC (did he ever have a name?), when he got older could film the other side of the conversation. (I think he was gonna film it whenever he himself was going to die, either from natural causes or suicide, since the manga deals with death and grief)
Anyways maybe I’m thinking too hard but it’s nice to theorize.
MC is called Yuta and he mentions at least five times so, yeah, maybe you should get going with your 3rd re-read ^_^

Not saying that you should be okay with any. I think both are horrible. I think neither should happen. But if you have a problem with one, you should have a problem with the other.
