this story really was soooooooo nice. i really liked their dynamic & how they interacted with each other….. i’m ngl i’m also relieved it didn’t end with an 18+ scene and that one is being saved for the extras LOL i feel like in a lot of stories esp ones like this it feels really rushed and like it kind of ruined the story / its flow and pacing when one is crammed into the last chapter instead of being in an extra. going straight from conflict resolution to rolling dirty just tends to really throw me out when reading so LOL. glad it’s being saved for the extra instead of being part of the main story.
i could read like 5 more volumes with these two just existing as a couple learning how to adjust to each other & settling in to their relationship without getting tired of them btw. i need more of them i want to see them being happy after working towards it through this whole story. volume 2 when
saying this here since it seems to be the cause of a lot of criticism regarding this story lol. certainly, it as a plot device can be hard to pull off, and it shows up very often. but it shows up so often because it’s honestly a genuinely common issue in human interaction. there’s a large difference between misunderstanding for the sake of misunderstanding for the sake of drawing a plot out unnecessarily, and misunderstanding for reason; this is very much the latter, and in this case i personally think it works.
the thing about people and feelings are that, oftentimes, they will be tumultuous, and confusing, and hard to express properly (whether with yourself or with others). readers can chant “just communicate” all they want upon stumbling into what is, to them, Just Another Misunderstanding, but communication is hard and it takes a lot of effort! it’s why misunderstandings and lack of communication exist; because clearing things up is difficult, and especially so if you’re a person who struggles understanding yourself or your situation. can it be frustrating? oh, undoubtedly. but it’s certainly very human if used appropriately, and i think it’s a little cynical as a reader to dismiss something just because it involves a lot of misunderstandings; it shows up so often as a plot device because it tends to occur so often in human interaction. even if sometimes it’s handled in a really trite, forced manner, it can be used well & i think this is one of those times because of how integral it is to the plot & how saeki and oka’s internal perspectives and individual doubts are at the forefront of each chapter.
this!! as readers, there will be times where we'll have difficulty understanding the situation because we're not experiencing it ourselves so we only see it as a minor issue that can be fixed easily with simple communication. we take it as tho it's a minor issue since it's so common but sometimes we aren't acknowledging the complexity of how communication with something as delicate as your personal feelings can be so the story device can seem overused and basic because of the 'simple' solution it has
YESSS YOU GET IT……… it’s SO easy as an outsider looking in as readers to dismiss these kinds of plots with “just communicate”, but it really needs to be looked at from like… that perspective Of the characters involved and how things are for them. of course the solution to the problem seems simple when you’re not facing it yourself and you’re just reading it happening, but even the simplest solutions may be a struggle to reach for those actually facing them. especially if it involves being vulnerable with someone in a way the person involved isn’t used to being.
it’s an important part of engaging with the text! facing the situation at hand and trying to understand it and why the characters are having problems communicating things out instead of dismissing it.
i read the raws up to a little past now before giving up on the story initially (& just skimmed them again now to see how things are going), & the pacing really is bonked. what is a ~two year time apart is resolved in the span of a single chapter, the two of them sleep together in ch~35, and are just pretty much dating going forward and are as of the most recent chapter a happy couple. it’s kind of a major disappointment because of how ch30-31 really build up to them being apart for a long time with taesung having to face how badly he ruined things due to his own possessiveness, only for that long time to be passed in a single chapter without anything that feels like real resolution.
some people might be fine with it! but it was personally a dealbreaker for me so i’m warning everyone that the pacing for their time apart & the timeskip is really off. taesung’s possessiveness doesn’t ever really seem to come up as too big a problem; he shows up pretty much immediately in the college arc, they go home together, they sleep together another four or so chapters after the first time, etc. i read another one w/ a similar premise that i think is so far far better executed, if anyone likes this kind of story - starstruck. s2 is just about to start in en & finished recently in kor, and while the ML’s possessiveness and behaviour are very much unjustified (and are actually treated as awful), his perspective is shown a decent amt & his problems w possessiveness are kind of explained. but the story very much does not let him off the hook or rush their relationship. do recommend it more than this one past this point personally
(side note thank you to the translation team for your work & efforts! the story may have disappointed me past a certain point but it’s because of your tling it i was interested enough to try and look into the raws to begin w/)

when i was going through it, i actually i kept thinking “huh, this reminds me of another series i dropped, except i’m enjoying the general pacing of this one way more…? what was that called again…?” and then it finally hit me what i was thinking of when this story updated today. LMAO
this isn’t really like involved in the point of the story nor is it any commentary on the plot line itself, but i have to say i do appreciate how more recent BLs are willing to sincerely approach bisexuality as a legitimate sexuality, vs the (still ever-present) “i can’t trust you if you’re not also 100% gay because you’ll leave me for a woman” & “this is a straight man who just happened to fall for a man he’s willing to be with for his entire life as an exception i guess”. it’s refreshing reading a story and seeing a character sincerely and comfortably Be Bisexual, even if he still faces discrimination for being mlm in general. like, what happened to him is horrible…. but it is nice seeing him casually state “yeah, i’m bisexual.” without any fuss raised within the main intended couple

this series is so funny to me, honestly. i stupid people. like, i know that the miscommunciation being used for drama thing is hard to pull off and this series is certainly not doing that, but i have no qualms with it personally just because it’s really funny to me seeing seonwoo continuously fumble in his attempts to seduce yiseo without scaring him off LOL especially considering how based on ch1 he’s very possibly liked yiseo from the get-go before he ever knew he existed.
like, the guy got so stressed out abt his crush disappearing for six months because of the fact they slept together that he lost weight from it. he keeps dodging confessing because he thinks yiseo has no interest in him and is afraid he’ll run off again but won’t say it and is thus making yiseo’s life harder for it. he thinks he’s flirting and yiseo is just way too anxious to pick up on any of it. he sucks at this. it’s great. 10/10 no matter how mid the actual story / pacing is
i’ve still got like fifty chapters to go and should not be reading this on a work night but this is stressing me out so bad. this ML is genuinely So Bad . i usually read endings first so i know how this is going to go even if i don’t know how it gets there and i have to say. i do not think there is literally anything that can make up for the mass combo of constantly isolating your partner, fooling around freely while yelling at them for sleeping with someone after they broke up with you, constantly threatening to murder them, lashing out violently, nearly getting them arrested & destroying their reputation, et cetera et cetera. i think the sunken cost fallacy is kicking in atp i kind of really hate this & can personally find no appealing factors about it as a story but i keep clicking the next chapter button instead of getting rest b/c i’m around 75 in. help.
these past several chapters have been so uncomfortable, these two should have broken up sooo bad .especially since the next chapter after this seems to be the end…. the resolution is terrible and by ilhoo just rolling with it chaeheon’s possessiveness & lashing out are essentially rewarded. this could’ve really used a breakup (preferably while. they’re still ldr so that entire car situation didn’t have to happen because i think if they broke up in-person around that point it would end violently) + a third season where ilhoo does his best to move on as he adjusts to work & chaeheon has to accept he fucked it up due to his own misunderstandings & that he needs to make an active effort & apology when he returns from overseas, especially now that ilhoo has gotten used to living without him. Alas.
a shame, bc season 1 was quite good. :( i had hope for s2 too because LDRs ARE a lot of effort and i liked the idea of them struggling through it because they underestimated how hard it can be to be apart… but particularly just this reunion was so uncomfortable it kind of ruins the entire story knowing this is the end lol
I really thought after the first chapter of the second season that they already broke up and the shit we just saw is their breaking point… damn this sucks bc it don’t match up at all! The author did a horrible job…
it sucks soooo bad it’s such a shame :( the author could’ve done something really good about a couple collapsing under the stresses of a LDR they were underprepared for and overconfident about (& then about them eventually getting back together when they’re more able to approach a relationship after time apart) but.
