? What's this about the gold dress? What was she talking about and the sister and the pregnant lady or whatever. Was she protecting the white haired sister? What was this about the gold dress? Somebody explain it to me?

The gold dress the little white haired girl was wearing, contained lead. In olden times, to make the color gold or heavily pigmented colors(like green or purple) the dye used dangerous chemicals that were toxic to humans. The MC spoke about it to put a wedge between her father and mistress(the pregnant lady), to make it seem like the mistress is trying to unalive her own child. Hopes this helps!
Isn't it great that the novel doesn't treat us like idiots and explains to us the procedures that are going on instead of having things magically happen. Like people magically become super rich even though they don't give an explanation why certain characters are super rich or magically are able to solve problems even though it's through a basis of almost magical like coincidence and protagonist protection. This story has the guts to go into the workings of what's going on in this world and I love it. This novel is great for everyone of all ages and even better, I absolutely love how it explains finances to the audiences without treating us as if we are naive children. This is a novel that does not insult the audience by inane platitude
