It’ll probably just piss everyone off even more if they continue to read this while hoping he’s gonna choose Cain. I highly doubt that’s gonna ever happen with the way the plot is going so save yourself from some headache and go find a better webtoon to read. He literally started off as a piece of shit to Siwon. The first half was him being all nasty towards the mc, talking down to him, pushing him around and making him confused as hell. He was exactly like Yahwi in the beginning and then got redeemed in the end. It has been a long time since I read that story though, so I may be wrong but I do remember him being quite horrible in the beginning.

When I was reading the main story, I frickin hated Dohyeok’s guts. I remember saying shit like omg can this guy just get lost already? And I still stand by that opinion. He is a rapist, a bully, an insecure arrogant prick that deserves punishment for all the shit he pulled with Suha, just because he wants to feel superior for once.
However I am enjoying his side story immensely, mainly because the author is incredibly BOLD to do this for a character that was clearly written to be an irredeemable villain. And the author does not try to “redeem” him in anyway. Dohyeok is still trash, and he is now suffering from karma. It’s exactly like Siwoo said: Dohyeok despite all his bravado is at core a very pitiful man and it shows in how he destroys not only other people’s lives but his own.
I don’t see this as a redemption arc but a personal healing journey for Dohyeok to wake the f up and get a hold of himself. No matter how much you cry and scream for justice, even villains and bastards have a story to tell.
I find it incredibly ironic that Siwoo, the one who got Suha back on his feet, is now in the same exact position with Dohyeok. Siwoo is the best character in this whole series for real. I would find it incredibly satisfying if Dohyeok pulls some shit against Siwoo’s father as revenge for kicking his son out. Honestly, Dohyeok is petty and cares in a fked-up way enough to do that lol

I feel like I want to cry because of how sincere Cain is and how badly his parents reacted, but also I wanna laugh my fucking ass off because this story is just peak comedy at this point. Who the hell cares anymore who ends up with who? They’re all bonkers and annoying as hell lol yet I’m here nonetheless. This author has a talent for riling people up for sure.

I am in love with this story. I honestly think it’s the best villainess story I’ve read so far. I was lucky enough to read the officially translated version (of course I paid for it on Tappytoon) and, honestly, the crappy translation here makes the story suck shit when it is actually amazingly written.
It sticks true to the “villainess” theme and the political, psychological battles between Satie and Irene are exactly what I wish to see more from other villainess manhwa as well. I genuinely think the battles are genius and truly shows how it feels to live back in the olden days where your honor and life is pretty much decided from birth. It’s not just a simple “reborn and yikes I’m a villainess” story where the villainess has a sad backstory and sasses her way through everyone who condemned her old self so that she can survive. No, it’s a story that truly shows a character who grows and develops into a person who rightfully owns her position as empress by using wits, knowledge, kindness, and a fierce will to fight for what is right. I also love how it isn’t harem and whatnot like the other stories. It focuses purely on the battle to become empress and really shows us the kind of stuff an empress must be capable of in order to rule. The romance is not sudden and actually, for once, makes sense. The chemistry has been there since the start and the relationship is (I swear to god) so pure and sincere without unnecessary drama. I also think the author did a great job with setting, exploring the world within it rather than simply throwing random nobles around and calling it a “world in the past”. It shows the true life and how it really feels to live back then (minus the magic part lol).
Straight up 11/10 for me.
Everyone’s trash but hey, who cares? That’s why it’s entertaining to read lol. I’m loving the story so far because of the tea and drama. I don’t really care whether this ends in a healthy or not relationship because this story probably doesn’t give a crap about that anw. If I wanted to read something fluffy and healthy, I’d go read something else that’s way softer and nice (there’s plenty of amazing healthy relationship BL out there), but hey, once in a while reading some trashy drama where you hate everyone is good for entertainment too looking forward to how shit hits the fan in the end.
