I’ve read other novels with age gaps like this. Part of why I can handle those series and end up being okay with the ship is those couples have a period of separation. I think a period of separation is CRUCIAL for the older person to stop seeing the younger person as a child / highly immature.
(Btwn it’s a 12 year age gap)
And I thought that would happen in this novel; it was implied early on that sejin would leave for the military, which is an inherent two year time skip. But NOPE. I haven’t even read the entire chapters yet so maybe a bit more time has passed, but he never moves out. From the time he’s 18 to 20/21 he stays with seju, with a pseudo parental relationship. (And this is Korean age so actually 16 and 18/19). They have sex when he is freshly a legal adult.
there is no separation. At max it’s three weeks of “separation”. I haven’t read the chapters leading up to the sex scene (or when I think seju kisses a sleeping sejin which is a whole nother topic), and really I have no desire to, so there are scenes I haven’t read in btwn these moments. If anyone has read the novel, and in the chapter I skipped they somehow did a significant time skip and separation period, please lemme know. Though I doubt it :) (I skimmed ch 15, read part of 16)
I am just so annoyed. I love sejus character and the plot surrounding his involvement in the gang is frankly rlly interesting. But I am so. Goddamn. Annoyed. That he and sejin end up together without any substantial change in their dynamic.
Seju acts too much like a guardian/parental figure and sejin too much like a clingy child for me to feel okay with this. In chapter 14 he is still acting like a brat (lol) (no I don’t hate him)
I thought maybe it would end up something like sha po lang maybe SVSS (yes transmigration so it’s a bit diff) but nope. I’m so annoyed. Why am I thinking of scum gong danmei that pulls off substantial age gaps where the older uke lowkey raised the seme BETTER THAN THIS LIKE WHAT ????
I think part of why I am so annoyed is I thought there was a separation period, and read the earlier parts of the novel with that assumption in mind. Maybe if I didn’t expect that I wouldn’t be so annoyed. Though honestly, if I knew I would have never spent all this time reading the novel and would have just waited years for the manhwa to finish.
I actually like the plot so maybe I’ll finish reading, but idk
Spoiler
Yes he’s 18, but although that’s legally an adult I’d argue that’s still very young for a grown 30 year old man. Plus the fact seju has known and been taking care of sejin since he was 16 makes it even worse. He was a parental figure to sejin, and he saw sejin similar to a younger brother. The transition to a sexual relationship was way too abrupt for my liking. And again I’ve read other series w age gaps this big (or nearly as big) that didn’t feel as weird to me.
And what separation are you talking about? Again I didn’t read all of chapter 15, and haven’t finished the novel, so maybe I missed something. But I don’t think a month of separation is enough for sejin to substantially mature/grow up. And even during their sex scene (ch 16) , seju thinks of him as a child (tho im MTLing so it’s possible the meaning in Korean is a bit diff). I just can’t belive that seju no longer sees sejin as a child he has to protect. It’s like he sees sejin as a kid, but is still having sex with him, which is just….. uh not great
Hey, I just wanted to ask, if you've read the novel do yk:
Ik this technically already goes into the realm of dubcon due to power dynamics but do either of the characters get raped or SAd through the book?
Does Seju get with anyone other than his now sex partner and Sejin? Do they detail any other of his sexual experiences?
Does Sejin get with anyone else in the novel?
Thank you so much I just really need TWs for everything before I go into them.
This manhwa had my interest at the beginning, but got boring by the end. There were so few chapters that finishing it wasn’t a problem, but the characters and setting were so underdeveloped that it was difficult to be invested in the progression of the story. Frankly, this manhwa could have benefited if there were ~20 more chapters dedicated to fleshing out the plot.
The research subject “guide every one regardless of comparably” was boring and cliche. The climax of the story felt nonexistent, there was not enough build up to care. I barely cared about the research dad like figure, we only saw their relationship through a flashback. The ending was too rushed.
The main couple was fine, but I didn’t find their “love” believable (especially the guide, francis liking him was believable and makes sense). The esper and guide were actually consistent characters, but I would have preferred more development. The side characters were pretty much plot devices, especially that esper mind reader guy.
The setting was also poorly developed. Francis’ esper powers were very unclear. He was flying, healing, slashing, and who knows what else.
I do appreciate the absence of SA, which is a problem with other guideverse I’ve read (profundus, guilty affection). I think that’s part of why this just disappoints me. There are so many elements in this that could have been amazing, but they just weren’t executed well enough for me.
Also, at the end, what was the point of him being blind for half a chapter????
I hate the cliche of like oh they have a serious injury or scar or disability but then suddenly at the end it magically goes away like woah im fixed again. Really disappointing that theres not many good stories that stick through stuff like that. Just my opinion but i was hoping he was just blind from then on but nope gotta have the perfect ending
Exactly my feelings. I thought he would actually stay blind, which would have been nice, but nope. At least in other stories, the characters serious injury or disability lasts longer and tends to play a bigger role in the plot. In this manhwa it was completely unnecessary and was only in like one or two chapters. That makes it even more annoying to me

Ah-in where are you talking my boy joon????? He’s been through enough omg, leave him alone
