Just cause he was miserable doesn’t mean he can make everyone else around him miserable too, his actions traumatize everyone around him including bullying the main character so severely that he had bruises and a broken arm, and also developed an anxiety disorder. That’s only what he did to the main character. He also traumatized the male lead making him develop an inferiority complex sex addiction and a neglectful household with both emotional and physical trauma so no I don’t understand why you don’t hate him lol. I’m glad he died. That’s what he deserves.

I definitely direct most my hate towards their mom. She’s the true villain of the story. I see where he was coming from, he definitely was struggling dealing with his illness. I think this chapter really highlighted that. However, there’s no excuse for his actions. He literally made Seoins life hell, and beat up YW simply because he was struggling to deal with his own problems. I still hate their mom the most tho

Ikr i was fucking pissed when i learned that they even changed his birthday. She was too selfish. The more i learn how the adoption process is just modern legal trafficking, the more i hate it. I mean their are definitely parents who actually just wanna adopt but the system now just enables abuse ngl. Also i hate the whole family, like what tf was their fucking problem?? It’s possible that some people can feel for someone else despite the things they’ve done. Like criminals. People can be (justifiably) horrified by their actions but also feel bad for the reason they turned out the way they did and commit crimes. No one is justifying any of the wrong things that kid did.

I’m actually adopted, and I know you gotta go through a lot to be able to adopt in the states. Idk how it is in Korea tho, and unfortunately the parents would’ve looked like the perfect pair to adopt on paper. Both the boys were doomed with the parents they had, more so because of the mom. She cant see past her own trauma and always makes selfish decisions and is content with sweeping everything under the rug. She made both of her sons lives miserable because of that.

you can voice your opinion on something without implying that the author actually approves of it irl. "haha at least I don't support the author" implies they look down on the creator for their choices of what to put *fictional characters* through. I am not denying that it is an uncomfortable topic, because it is. I've DNFd stories I can't handle before and there is no shame in that, I don't make it everyone elses problem though.

when it comes to the debate of "readers will be influenced by fiction and normalize these things"
first, as a general thing it's been studied that people who are sound in the head won't just start thinking something's okay because it happens in fiction.
second, specific to the adressed scenes at hand. the sexual assault scenes are NOT FRAMED AS A GOOD THING! neither of em. the aliens are meant to be threatening, the men in the bath are meant to be disgusting. if you're seriously arguing "omg the bad guy is doing bad things, gets beaten up for it and we're clearly uncomfortable *with* our main character, then I don't know what to tell ya, but I thought we're able to read critically here.

what I also despise is the watering down of terms by using it for fiction, because unlike with ACTUAL LIVING BREATING PEOPLE, WHERE THERE ARE VICTIMS, fiction is nothing but lines on a screen. nobody hurt, nobody traumatised, not worth to use IRL terms for.
I couldn't give a rats ass if a mangaka wants to draw a fictional character in skimpy outfits. this is a SHOUNEN in the first place. you know, for hormonal teenage boys. that usually like teenage girls. so fanservice scenes like during the nessy fight don't bother me (plus, unlike most anime with hurr durr I need an excuse to draw em naked bs, the reason "clothes are sucked full of water and make us heavier" is entirely logical, but I fucking digress.)

as for the initial scene. they might have taken some liberty with how they animate it, I might be too gay to see the sexyness in it, but overall, the alien scene is still very much shown in a negative light. so I don't know what your problem is except "I'm uncomfortable", which I already initially said would be reason to not read it for your own sake. it's not shameful to stop reading stories if you can't handle the material. yes, I was snarky and passive agressive in my initial comment (and I won't deny my tone here is harsh too, considering you started your reply with "I look down on you") but I also do mean it genuinely when I say "the back button is here, abort if you can't handle a story." because it's genuinely better for your mental health sometimes.
