Though I like the knight guy, it took just 1 chapter and i'm head over heels for arvid. He's comforting, supportive, teasing and funny. He has a personality and isn't automatically falling for the FL because she's "interesting". He seems to have his own goals for which he is approaching the FL, not just a ML who exists to serve the FL. And gotta love the gender reversed dress up scene.
This is exactly what a story meant for female readers should be doing. All other females should be evil and unworthy of love or respect. None of their suffering needs to be understood or sympathised with, coz we are gonna make them 2d dumbasses. Even a lady who had to survive in a red-light district since childhood, enduring physical or sexual abuse, and being clever enough to rise to the top in that world, will commit obvious crimes instead of having any sense of self-preservation. She won't need any pride either, willing to beg and plead in front of everyone. Makes perfect sense. And then obviously she needs to suffer immensely for this crime, coz she should've known that in this novel, ALL MALES will have feelings for the FMC. There will not be a SINGLE IMPORTANT MALE CHARACTER that won't be smitten with FMC, coz that is against feminism.
I swear to god, why are so many authors allergic to multi-faceted characters? Or to having a male character not being in love with FMC? This lady could've had so much potential. She could've been incredibly insightful and polished, with her perspective on things being very different from the FL's. She could've been the strong character who rose from her terrible conditions, as a foil to the FMC who has only known suffering at the hands of the redhead, and is only just finding her courage.
Tho I feel like ppl(the girl) in that line of work, generally aren't treated well except from there customers which would cause that sense of attachment and Jealousy. And ppl like Ml of high authority would generally never care for her if the weren't attracted/ gain something from her. So I really feel like the author just stayed true to norms of society, it sucks but it's true
lazy writing over an over. No actual progress in the story, just keep showing us the villains winning over main characters 90% of the time, only for the mc and friends to unite, temporarily stop the villains (and never satisfactorily, so the readers never get any sense of catharsis), and the villains come back stronger than ever, the main characters are scattered, then reunited and the whole shit starts off again.
She sold off her daughter coz she didn't want her to inherit the throne, coz she favoured her son. She married her daughter off to a faraway land and sent her there all alone. She knew her daughter was planning to take poison and kill herself and didn't care, sent her anyway. And now she gets no consequences, the ML prostates himself in front of her, coz precious mother in law or something, never standing up for what Adele went through coz of her. And to round off the whole fiasco we get the ML comparing FL to her mother who sold her off. Nice one.

if they wanted to change the original story from the novel to make rize more sympathetic to the readers, they should've incorporated her pov and turmoil from the beginning. But no, they show that she very much leans into her role, even knowing that the people possessing Edith are real people who die due to her actions. She does them anyway, and happily.
But no, they choose to give her flashbacks in the last act of the story. I assume its because in the novel rize pretty much got off scot-free even after edith found out she had gotten many other ediths killed, so they are trying to justify the inaction on edith's part by saying rize is also worthy of sympathy. I'm guessing that's also why edith's torture and helplessness is non-existent. And the fulfillment of the last condition is glossed over.
They thought the weak link in the story was the part where rize not getting justly punished was not justified properly in the novel, so they try to do a last minute patchwork fix to be able to justify that. When they should've been fixing up the part that rize gets properly punished for all the crimes we've seen her commit as the villain of the story.
It's not a weak link cause she loses everything anyway and ends up in a motesory (idk how that's spelt lol) pr something else after. So she gets her karma anyway. In fact i think she was executed for trying to decieve the royal.family after the edith situation
