i have a theory he did notice cause they were actually madly in love and maybe he caused this or he actually, like her, retained all his past memories and will try and stop that evil princess from killing the fake one.
the story hasn’t gotten into specifics about her child, her husband, or even her plan. it feels like everything is shrouded in mystery, and it makes things more exciting (for me, at least) i’m sure it’ll be revealed soon, i can’t wait!
