My guess is that they've both reincarnated a lot of times (idk how much), but each time they do, only one seems to remember and not the other. Like in the book, Humin (the MC) must have remembered since he was drawing pictures of his old world. And now (like in the ML's flashback), the ML is the one remembering.
And since the MC was the one to remember (in the main story), that would mean that the ML maybe faked not knowing for the sake of the plot progressing (?) OR because he really didn't remember and the MC was able to jog his memory.
Not sure on that part really.

iheon was more able to cope with his lifetimes. but he's always been the aggressor, and multiple lifetimes of enacting violence will always be easier to face than compounded multiple lifetimes of trauma. so huimin is dissociating deeply and experiencing something of derealization, depersonalization, delusion, basically a whirlwind of denial bc his brain couldn't handle it anymore.

I think that both the MC and ML get too much hate for their actions in the past. They were high schoolers who didn't really know anything about love or how to navigate their feelings properly. The MC had trauma and was suicidal, and the ML was childish and had personality problems.
They were clearly not ready to be in a relationship at that time, and I'm glad they grew apart. I feel like them getting together when they were younger would guarantee a break up. And that they're older, they obviously grew as they pursued their relationship. I do feel bad for both of them, because time was lost in those years they spent apart, but I think it was good for them.
