Can I just say, that to me, it seems like Alex does in fact have an attraction to DG and has used "fuck buddies" more as an exception to himself, an excuse to break his normal habit of doing things, which is to treat people as disposable. He's not unaware of DG's feelings, but refuses to deal with his own, in addition to his baggage. That's not an excuse for his behavior, but it's not an unfamiliar trope for a damaged person. The glimmers seen when he's drunk, or not keeping his emotions in check, is what he could be if he weren't such a mess.
I think the author has set this story up to be more traumatic on DG than Alex, who is already traumatized. Except DG will likely display more grit than when Alex went through the same thing. It's not DG's responsibility to clean up after Alex's issues, but he's clearly the kind who will do so anyways.

I've thought it over and I've concluded that Korean Manhwa can become way darker and can spiral further down the rabbit hole than what I think most are used to. It's angst of a greater magnatude. I dabbled in another called "Hogu Hagyeongsu" which is an even greater level of crazy (I can't say I recommend it). I think the better story telling allows a balence of light-heartedness mixed in so it's not always a one-note level of pain and suffering. Regardless I'm still interested in seeing where this ends up, but I'm thinking it's time for a break to see if enough of the story will develop or if it just keeps up this same fervored pitch.

I read Hogu Hagyeongsu from start to end and I agree. It messed me up in all honesty. But I definitely don't think BJ Alex will reach or get even close to what the level of angst that Hogu Hagyeongsu did. Or even many of the Manhwa these days do.
Honestly, I think this is the peak of angst when it comes to them getting together. Of course, there's still that sunbae at school that's suspicious of them and is searching for the people that had sex in the student lounge (which are DG and Alex) but I think that'll be down the road and again, way more light hearted then what we've been getting recently ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

I understand that each character has their own baggage, And that the nature of shonen ai tends to feature slow character development. But doesn't it seem like Haru has tested Ren more times than what's necessary? I can't shake this feeling like they they are in a relationship, yet don't actually acknowledge it as such which is also a bit frustrating. that's shonen ai for you I suppose. ╮(─▽─)╭

I'm going to be pissed if the series ends after they end up together. No angst needed, I want arcs of them being so sugary I wind up with diabetes.

I’m okay with slow developing relationships but I agree that it sucks when you don’t get to see much of them actually being in a relationship. At least with here u are we get angst but also a lot of them being cute. I feel like it’s worse with manga that’s 50 chapters of just pain and then like a chapter and a half of them being happy.

Very true. It could be worse. I've read some that I had high hopes for, but the rushed ending and "one chapter and a 5 page extra of the happy couple" scenario completely killed it for me. You can't make us sit through chapters and chapters of angst and suspense only to give us a few crumbs of lovey dovey times. It makes all the build up to the happy ending taste kinda bitter in my opinion.
Whoever is cranking these out so quickly, bless ye. ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
