On episode 28 Heegyeom clearly said this was him repaying him with his body for the film. And lastly, Jaehan does not deserve forgiveness just because he paid for the reshooting, that is the definition of trying to buy someone's feelings off. And him "feeling bad" does not fix other people's trauma.

I said heegyeom wasn't suspicious or prone to taking revenge after they were separated for 6 months and he clearly has come to terms with what happened...of course he went forget it but he knows Jaehan's personality.
I did say he was framed for no reason and heegyeom was feeling apologetic towards him for making him overdose as well (also having sex with him when he wasn't conscious...so nonconsensual sex, I.e. repe, even if it was done under ecstasy)
Also he did let the film get ruined (when it was already getting ruined) but now he's obviously going way out of his way to fix that mistake and heegyeom isn't an idiot.
Both are traumatized by a lot of things - that's why it's a psychological bl.
I think the prostitute thing is now a term between them that heegyeom uses fyi guilt trip jaehan since he had already shown him how much he regretted saying that in the impulse of the moment...the leasf he can do to extract "revenge" is by taunting him. Like jaehan said if he really wanted to take revenge on him, ruining the movie now that he has such a huge investment in it, would be perfect. But heegeyon wouldn't do it, not just because of the movie, but because he probably wants to start over with jaehan properly now.

But that would be something that is characteristic to jaehan...not exactly angelic but he's done his fair share of mistakes as well. Not like jaehan, but be it the prostitute calling, or planting drugs, or not doing anything to save his film (though it was already pretty ruined)
He did cause him to overdose and had non-consensual sex (under ecstasy or whatever) and the prostitute thing is just a thing between them that he used to guilt trip him...
If he wants to ruin him, like jaehan said, he could ruin his movie since jaehan will suffer a major loss.
But heegyeom isn't like that, and 6 months have already passed, and in the flashback he didn't seem angry, but regretful after seeing jaehan's face after they broke up.

It'd be very out of character for him to become an asshole now out of the blue. I think he loves filming and really appreciates jaehan trying to make up for his mistakes in the past...and also, and only he knew how upset heegyeom was when the movie was changed, so jaehan doing this is enough to move his heart.

They were both under the influence of drugs, I'm not gonna say that what he did was right and it was obviously rape, but you can't expect him to have the situational awareness of a sober person. Jeahan was fully aware of what he was doing, everything he did was with intent to hurt Heegyeom because...he was horny? The plot for the drug possession was planned before the rape and he was planning on ruining the movie before he learned about it too. Also Heegyeom apologized and thought he deserved everything that happened with the charges for what happened between them. Jaehan has not said sorry once. He paid for the movie HE RUINED and he paid VOLUNTARILY he is not owed anything, is that really "everything in his power" to make it right, because that's still a sad excuse of an apology. Every time he does something shitty he just tries to throw money at it to make it feel better. The fact it's a dark drama doesn't mean I'll dismiss their actions. And since I thought it was implied but evidently it wasn't, this is my way of saying that he should suffer more consequences for his actions, and I'm not talking about the self inflicted ones I'm talking about consequences in his relationship with Heegyeom.

He isn't asking for second chances, he just wants to fix what he can, after he realized seeing heegyeom in pain is more painful for him. He's not exactly mentally stable since a very young age, so he took a long time to get to his senses...
I'm not sure why you're saying his suffering is self-inflicted....he does have chronic insomnia and it's the reason he used alcohol, drugs, sex to fall asleep but he still couldn't so I think he's already suffering enough.
It's not your place to decide how much jaehan needs to suffer before heegyeom can "forgive" him...he came around pretty fast on the prostitute thing, and about him being married....the way his character is written so far is that he is definitely upset by how jaehan is, but he likes him anyway. Before he even knew the truth -he realized how impulsive he is, but when he apologizes, he is really sincere about it, and when he doesn't, he doesn't. When they broke up, he didn't defend himself even though he wanted to.
In any case, in the new few chapters heegyeom is all over jaehan and being sappy...so prepare your tissues.

First of all trauma is not an excuse for abhorrent behaviour. It might be an explanation for it but not an excuse. My comment about how our actions impact others was mainly aimed at Jaehan already. He was doing self loathing, he only started self reflection in the car, so yes I think he should spend a little more time thinking about how his actions affected others the same way that he thought how the situation affected him. Also, kill himself? That's the first thing you can think of? There was this intricate process, it was called "apologizing and recognizing what you did wrong" they talked about it....in kindergarten, truly complex stuff, where you had to say "I'm sorry for pulling your hair". It got even more complicated in elementary school where we had to recognize how our actions impacted others by saying "I'm sorry for pulling your hair, that must have hurt" it was really fascinating, if you ever have time I highly recommend looking into the topic. Funny thing is, Jaehan has shown clear understanding of the concept when he decided that Heegyeom was not worth his apology. He had multiple opportunities to say it and yet he didn't, because his pride would be hurt. If they end up together next 2 episodes they'll both be pathetic, but especially Heegyeom for being so easily manipulated...again.

I was thinking this was supposed to be a constant mind fight among the characters, something witty, you know? But it doesn't appear to be, and having bad translations plus two different versions, didn't help the English release...

It is like that...the manhwa is very witty. And the mind games are not just between the main leads by other side characters as well...soohyun is pulling all kinds of strings to get eunsung out of this situation soon so he can be in his complete control (I.e. be with him forever lol) and eunsung first thought it could be just a mutual benefit deal, but now his motivations have vastly changed - but I won't spoil it since I was reprimanded by people here before when I tried to explain some things :((
Nevertheless it IS what you thought it would, but the translations are really REALLY bad. They just keep getting worse and worse. :(((

Yes, the dialogues are actually the main reason why this manhwa is so popular. Their voices and personalities are very unique and likeable....soohyun and the sunbae are the one who curse the most, which is an important trait of their personality..
Yeah even if they censored the smut parts, they shouldn't have messes with the translation. The important parts of the story are not just in the sex bits (those are the moments when eunsung and soohyun actually find out some things about the other - like their real selves) though sex is used as a transaction of information on paper haha. Except for in season two where it becomes as something they initate because they wanted to (?) Soohyun has said a couple of times he doesn't like having sex (which the author confirmed that his sexual desire isn't high, except for when he's with eunsung ofc- but that's because he likes seeing his expressions twist and change when they have sex - soohyun doesn't like his "unbotehred and lifeless" face. He gets turned on when eunsung's face shows helpless/vulnerable or frustrated expressions)
They really messed up first by making it into all ages and even after that, the translations are very poorly done. :((( they're not even trying.

They're right, eunsung is very gentle and flirty when talking to soohyun - he's like a cat, he teases soohyun a lot, and also stands up to him when soohyun is going on a mad tangent like putting himself in danger recklessly, but he never raises his voice, even when he's mad at him. Even the way they text each other is very different- soohyun tells him "I need to write an article. Come out." And when it's eunsung asking him he says it like, "Should we have a meeting today?// Do you want to meet today?"
Eunsung is the cutest most soft and adorable character ever....
He's so soft for soohyun, I can't tell you...

Their conversations are about business but they're not like this at all...they sound very American and not really accurately as well..
Eun-soo relationship isn't cold - though soohyun does put up a lot of barriers but in season two, we are seeing his emotional outbursts when he got jealous and almost shouted to eunsung "you are my..." hahaha
Eunsung is not an asshole!!! These translations are very very bad and inaccurate. He's very gentle and polite and caring and flirty with soohyun.... because it pissed him off at first but now he does it very naturally since he's become really fond of him. The change in his tone started after he reveals he knows who soohyun is and afterwards starts calling him "soohyun-ah" which is a very endearing way to call someone close to you. Soohyun got upset at first at him for calling him like that, but now he's used to it I guess hahaha eunsung is VERY VERY cute. The official translations would never make this change in their tone,if only this was translated by a fan, they'd surely add the soohyun-ah part, and add a note. Since it's important to how close their relationship becomes.

And they are questions above all, because I only read the bad translation, I made a small personal translation of chapter 26 and 27 before it came out, then I realized that it was wrongly translated when at first it didn´t mention that Soohyun came when Eunsung said his name, and when he was so embarrassed that his face was covered, Eunsung told him that if he felt shy he could turn around so that his face wouldn´t be seen; and then there are the raws, there I have many questions since I don´t understand Korean, and my personal translations are from using google translator.
If I had to ask a question from the raws (What interests me the most), would Eunsung have an interest or crush on Soohyun in the past?
And now that they have started interacting and collaborating in the present, is he interested in maintaining or advancing his current relationship with Soohyun, and protecting him from the rapist teacher and probably Soohyun himself?
It makes me laugh that Eunsung is jealous of the reporter when his biggest rival is probably himself, I mean the idealized version that Soohyun sees, that version that is superior and looks at everyone with contempt and doesn´t care Soohyun at all (Although Soohyun is starting to know the real Eunsung, but I think it will be difficult for him to break that ideal that he has).
And a question about the past that I have is: Why did Eunsung rape Soohyun in the beginning?

Personally, I don´t like rapes in BL, especially if they are poorly written psychologically (Like love=rape, or there are no emotional wounds or trauma on the victim, the rapist not redeems himself and still ends up with the victim, or mental and emotional intelligence of every character is low when it comes to dealing with these issues), but in this work I liked it because it is well written psychologically and there are reasons for everything, and sex isn´t for easy fanservice but as you said, the way for Soohyun and Eunsung on getting to know each other for real (When they made the deal, Eunsung became very nice to Soohyun in sex, focusing on pleasing him, I noticed that).

I'll try to answer the questions you have:
"would Eunsung have an interest or crush on Soohyun in the past?" - from the info we have currently is all implied - eunsung remembering soohyun wore glasses, when he tells his friend that he doesn't like reunions because he doesn't recognize any of those "bastards" faces, or remember anyone from school - but he remembered not only how soohyun looked like, but also mentions to his friend that "soohyun hasn't changed - he's still how he was in high school, just in a grown up suit (lit. Translation: whether he wears a high school uniform or a suit, there's no difference." (He says this affectionately btw - and to quote him "soohyun is hard to figure out (complex), and a sensitive guy." ) so the theory in the fandoms he really did pay attention to him, when soohyun wasn't looking at him. Soohyun thinks their relationship was the kind where if eunsung didn't look at him, their eyes would never meet (I.e. he was in a position of power due to his popularity) but he obviously noticed him a lot many times hehehehe.

Since the deal in the beginning chapters for this munseop situation. I think he's just insecure because he thinks soohyun really hates him for being who he is (despite his efforts to show him that they're similar) - eunsung actually does realize that he's kinda fighting a losing battle against his own perception. In the chapter 29 they butchered here, he does hold his face and say, "What kind of standards/critreas are you using to say who is what kind of person? How the hell are you looking at me, Soohyun-ah?"
This is where he realizes the chasm between them that soohyun sees....he is very upset afterwards where he realizes no matter what he says, soohyun will always misinterpret it into eunsung looking down at him." Hahaha he says I'll have to read more books to know the right words that soohyun doesn't misunderstand in the future."

4. "Why did Eunsung rape Soohyun in the beginning?" - the author hasn't addressed it because we haven't gotten that many eunsung's flashbacks or monologues. So I can only tell you my own theory: I think eunsung did have past affection for him, but I think he did that - which was so uncharacteristic of him - because he TRULY did not want soohyun to be involved in this munseop mess. He tried putting him down and sending him away but he followed him to the hotel persistently, and also remember that eunsung's friend saw soohyun's face and the fact that he's a reporter meeting soohyun in a hotel room - he did that kind of thing, thinking soohyun would truly hate him to the point of revulsion, but he instead showed up at his door the next day lol. He did try to send him away even after that but soohyun came to his house and he was in a truly helpless place and soohyun came to rescue just in time - in more than way to help with munseop situation.
I hope the author shows us a flashback of eunsung's thoughts when he saw soohyun after so many years, when he was doing to him, and after he walked out of the hotel room his expression.

Sex between them has been transactional of information and favour, but this changes through the story - from non-consensual, to eunsung stops when soohyun tells him to (when they make a deal in his room), to sex in the hotel (which soohyun initiates btw) and eunsung doesn't have sex when soohyun falls asleep, and instead cleans him up and put him to bed, to the next time in the car which is also initiated by soohyun. Their reasons differed so much over time...each time they did it, their feelings were changing so rapidly. Especially eunsung. Soohyun can't see the changes completely but he is noticing~

The chapters 26 and 27 were examples of my ability as a translator, which is not very good but even I could see that it is being poorly translated.

Even more than the car scenes hahaha the conversations they had in the bathroom were the best~~•

Soohyun surprises eunsung a lot, like he ALWAYS surpasses his expectations, and also he is pleasantly surprised to find how perfectly soohyun fits into his life - kind of. But the parts of him that intrigued him before, which he found fun before, now make him worry, since his feelings have deepened considerably.
Hopefully they'll communicate in the future chapters....eunsung-ah, keep fighting! The road is long, but soohyun will realize soon hopefully. Eunsung just needs to be really straightforward (which has started being already)

Eunsung's attitude is shifting from the munseop situation to his relationship with soohyun.. now the munseop situation to him isn't about his own career or his own problem with the old man, but rather to get all the other students and his friend shinhae out of there and get him exposed.
Which is a dynamic shift from how he was before he met soohyun again (he used to tell them that if they wanted to stop munseop from exploiting them, they should leave like he did) but maybe being with soohyun, he's become more sympathetic as well. And he truly wishes to solve this without anyone coming to any harm (especially soohyun, and of course shinhae)
I would simply love to see their story after this munseop situation but if the author will follow stalker games story development, it would end once they got in a relationship for real. I think tan-nim likes to leave it upto readers' imaginations ughhhh but I wanna see them for a long time. Checkmate is one my favourite BLs to have even been written~

Something we all love about Soohyun is that he is really unpredictable(≧∀≦).
I love all about this manhwa but what I love the most is that it starts with the impression of Soohyun chasing Eunsung but as it progresses, we realize that Eunsung is also chasing Soohun(▰˘◡˘▰).
The only thing that stands between them is Soohyun's mental problems, and whether Eunsung will be able to communicate properly with him (We have already specified that the rapist teacher is rather the current excuse to keep getting to know each other).

But I like this story because it's kind of relatable, like when people were kids in school, it was so easy to always idolize or admire the popular kids - like they're so perfect. (Everyone has moments where they envy someone who is virtually perfect and flawless)
But just because someone's life looks perfect from the outside - it doesn't mean it is.
That's something soohyun is starting to realize about eunsung - with the munseop situation ofc. He started off being really happy eunsung's life was going through terrible times - but he became really pissed off after he saw that eunsung had kind of given up trying to be perfect and didn't mind that his image was being tarnished (remember soohyun hated him because of the perfect image eunsung had that was in contrast to his own)
He detested eunsung being not himself - the perfect version in his eyes. He remarks many times that eunsung isn't acting dignified (when he sees how "perverted" he's become (hehehe soohyun, he's like that because you're his type) and how he isn't like how he pictured him back in school (and he hates it because now eunsung is a mystery - he calls him "indescribable")
An interesting development which has taken place is that when soohyun comes to eunsung's house (on the day of the deal when he got his fingers crushed) they didn't translate it accurately but soohyun tells eunsung "Don't try to teach me. I have no intentions of learning even how to breathe from you." When eunsung teases him that he'd teach him how to get used to having sex (with a man) (?) Hahaha but now in the latest chapters, he admits that he can't understand eunsung at all, and eunsung himself can only tell him/teach him who he really is and what goes on in his mind...(also fun fact: tan-nim said that soohyun's type is someone who is knowledgable and is good at communicating/teaching hehehehhee)
Even though soohyun is a bit extreme, but I really like him. Eunsung is right when he calls him honest and sensitive (though probably only eunsung can see that side to him while to others he seems like a crazy obsessive bastard)

I would also like Eunsung to empathize with Soohyung's condition, although it is more difficult to do so considering that of the two Soohyun is the mysterious one (We already have Eunsung's flashbacks, and reasons that have led him to the present, but the only thing that We have from Soohyung is the flashback of her high school days and his graduation) not to mention Soohyun's pride.
Although Soohyun has his perspective clouded with his inferiority complex, low self-esteem, and his idealization of Eunsung, ironically compared to the other characters, Soohyung is the one who best knows and accepts Eunsung in question on a personal level (In my opinion), which is contradictory at the same time XD.

I think to soohyun, jung eunsung of the high school days meant everything to him. Even now he has told eunsung (in the car before they had sex) that he's not having sex with him to make him feel better or out of the goodness of his heart for pitying him after getting punched and the terrible encounter with munseop, but rather because the desperate expression and actions of eunsung in the bathroom is the reason. And his current self makes him sick/ he can't stand it (his nonchalant face) He tells eunsung exactly this "Bring back that bastard. It's because of him, not because of a bastard like you." (To have sex)

What criteria are you using to set those standards? How the hell are you looking at me, Soohyun-ah?" This is when he actually realized the problem. But until then, he never thought there was any inferiority involved. He just thought he hated him because he was ridiculed in school because of him a lot.

I agree with you 100%, although I think there was another reason too many, a quite simple one, and that is that when someone is popular they get used to people going to talk to them and want things from them (Social things) but when It's the other way around, they don't know how to start a friendship with someone who clearly seems not to be interested in them or hates them (I have a friend who was popular at school but then she moved to another country and she wasn't popular there, she didn't know how make friends because she didn't know how to approach people on her own).

Bro what? Chansol is kind and caring person so it would make sense for him to be nice to everyone, even Starr. Chansol never saw Hanhoo as anything more than as a friend, so why should he suddenly develop feelings for him just because Hanhoo confessed that he likes him? Him and Hanhoo have been friends for a long time now so of course he’s going to treat him differently than compared to others in some aspects. Honestly, he doesn't even treat him that different from the other characters in the story. Even if he did treat him as a headache, it would make sense since Hanhoo is selfish and is always causing trouble. Love takes time and there’ll are a lot of other aspects to the story that needs attention over they’re relationship so we won't be seeing date or fall in love in such a short time. The author can't write Chansols feelings towards Hanhoo (at least romantically) since he doesn't have any as of yet.

I personally don't like the development of the story and the way chansol's character is that forgiving to a point of being dumb, towards STARR of all people. He got him stabbed and hes worried about his safety, and wants to protect him from hanhoo like he's the one who had him stabbed to get back at someone else...gimme a break. You can make excuses but it was just plain ridiculous. Forgiving him was understandable but not this...definitely not this.
No, they weren't friends for a long time. They were friends a long time AGO. Hanhoo was the one who still remembered him, while he only had a vague idea of him.
I'm not against their relationship (I was actually looking forward to this the most) but I'm very dissatisfied by the timing of it, not the actual feelings.
Chansol clearly doesn't have even a tiny bit inclination towards hanhoo, which makes their interactions super awkward and tense for no reason. Be quiet and read the comment I wrote properly. Not liking the development doesn't mean I hate the overall story. The confession was just too rushed and ill-timed. I didn't like it happened that way...he should have just told him he was his friend from before and confesses his love.. it was so awkward and I'll timed. Now the atmosphere between them is so cringy with chansol feeling awkward and hanhoo getting jealous and mad on his own for something chansol doesn't even understand. He shouldn't have confessed his love so early....it fucked up the story in my eyes.
