There's two ways to write yakuza
You never see what the yakuza is doing focusing on fluff slice of life (like in honto yajuu) or you show the violence and keeps in mind that they're criminals(mayday mayday / Roses and Champagne)

So the town was they other yakuza's den or place like they owned it was handeld by them its their territory.
Now seing another yakuza (Asuka) they're they find it threatening thinking that Ao's family betrayed them by going to another yakuza (which is asuka) and they donot like seeing another yakuza in their territory (Yakuza are very territorial, like animal so thats why it actually make sense That they have animal characteristics)
