Wait, does this mean Jay is Version 1, or is it still unclear whether Jay is one of the kids? Because if I’m doing the math right, this is after the Lookism arc, and since our MC is Version 2 and still in high school, Jay would have been Version 1. There are 1,2, and 3 of the version for the kids and Jay is 1. I think lol

I apologize, but the pacing in the manga is horrible. For any manga readers out there, if you haven’t read the novel yet, I highly recommend doing so. The manga does not do the story justice, and so many crucial scenes are missing. While there’s a chance they might reintroduce these moments as flashbacks, it’s still disappointing.

To start, the first chapter should have focused more on Lian and the goddess, giving readers a better understanding of their dynamic. Following that, there should have been scenes showing Lian’s interactions with his brother and family. For example, Lian’s admiration for his parents and his discomfort around his brothers should have been included. This would explain later on in the story why Lian prefers staying at the church rather than at home. (The discomfort come from his brother’s inappropriate touches, which give off unsettling, incestuous vibes, a fact that makes Lian uncomfortable.)

Additionally, they should have shown the moment where Lian insists on changing by himself instead of having a maid help him. This scene highlights how different the original Lian (cruel and spoiled) is from the current Lian. It’s an important moment that show the between their personalities.

When Lian was taking care of the ML, they should have included the part where he struggles with blood. It’s a critical part as it tied to his trauma. whenever he sees blood, he remembers the accident that left his parents dead in a mess of red. In Chapter 2, the training scene also felt incomplete. In the novel, Lian acts more tsundere and provides constructive criticism to the ML. For example in the novel he says, “If you wish to win against me, then you should practice more, hm? You have too many wasted movements. Too many openings. You rely on brute strength, so your openings are even more obvious. What have you been practicing all this time? Think carefully about the weight and speed of the sword, about your swordsmanship. Be gentle with it. Put just enough force in every strike. If your movements flow, then you don’t need much power.” This highlights Lian’s skill and demonstrates how he helps the ML improve over time. It also explains why the ML grows to like him. Even though Lian believes he’s acting like a villain, the ML recognizes that Lian’s tough criticism is actually his way of helping. Also in the novel it wasn’t a handprint, it was scratches when Lian helped the ML. While I can understand the decision to show a handprint, it def different from the novel. (Confused me at first)

They also left out the scene with the doctor where he talked about how different Lian has become, saying, “You’ve become really gentle. The previous Young Master Lian absolutely wouldn’t have helped a shitty brat lying on the side of the road.” Moments like these emphasize the differences between the original Lian and the current one.

Why are they removing such important scenes that build the characters and their relationships? Its leaving the manga feeling flat compared to the novel. Even in chapter 3 they also left some many scene once again.
