while i think THIS IS SO FUCKING HILARIOUS AHEM it’s being unintentionally or perhaps intentionally by way of the subject matter (??) concerning because i mean,, this really illustrates the worries of /ignorant/ people reading bl manga. of course this is basically an extended hyperbole but, it drives home the point of fiction affecting reality; the dad is a bit of stretch but still believable—what is the education system telling both straight and gay kids in countries that still feature heavy discrimination as well as a shortened list of partner benefits for mlm (while you are allowed to have a joining in japan, it’s regional and the benefits like housing etc is compromised when compared to a straight marriage)—and the kids are really scary to be honest, especially sakura. though i’m still standing my belief that it’s largely unpremeditated, it’s frightening to see children who don’t know how to separate reality from imagination.
++ talking about sakura is a shoo-in to discussing the cons of a creator basing their creative output onto other’s creative output... which is especially pronounced in bl since it’s talking about gay relationships...

ok ok OK so i can see it. i think i really get why taehwan was being an ass (which still doesn’t excuse the shitty behaviour because i think he was making use of the past to justify it). basically, taehwan has issues related to consent—specifically between uh men (since he went to the boarding school and was probably/heavily implied that he was bullied. and by bullied it’s probably either sexual harassment or assault/rape. which we don’t know yet which it is or even his backstory but i get why he would be more touchy on the subject... but yeonwu probably doesn’t know why and so, as we can see through his talks with esther, he just assumes its homophobia.
ps. don’t kiss people when they are asleep. there’s no consent, you don’t know whether they have touch aversion and you don’t know whether they have trauma regarding that

ok i mean i’m just constantly amazed at how the creator portrays trauma? and i’m just so happy that the relationship between the two of them is growing to be such a healthy one. honestly i wish that eventually it reaches a point where chihwan tells sooin that sooin can leave him whenever he wants so as to actually confirm that what he says about caring about /sooin/ and not only his blood is REALLY true...

oh gods,,, this is such a masterpiece in writing and illustrating, signalled from the first few silent pages—the angles, the facial expressions, the prelude to bkdk growth... to me, this was a work which had three purposes: the first, a character study in which the dynamics of bakudeku in canon as while as outside canon therefore leaving it up to the author(s) imagination; the second, giving an introduction to bdsm though containing fictional elements, the author(s) really hammered down the fact that fundamentally respect is needed to have a d/s relationship; the last is the heaviest. to explore the consequences of rape—the effects that it has on an individual as well as their loved ones showing to us that the aftermath is much like waves crashing on the shore. infinite, forever. that the ones affected have to deal and confront with this dreadful event. you know, the most important thing highlighted is that ultimately, the victim has strength, agency. that though they were trapped, their resilience and bravery is not diminished. never lowered. yet it is okay to cry and be vulnerable and through it all they are respected and loved.
i just find this work of art incredibly important. also kudos to the author. bkdk already has a very complex and byzantine relationship so adding on with two of the most tricky premises... (that of which in manga, especially gay manga, is not dealt with very well overall) (so i think it’s especially commendable)
ughh that T.A girl makes me so uncomfortable... fuck off with your “token gay “FrIEnD”” bullshit how about about go and make a token straight homophobic friend
