The mangaka seems to be severely limited in their character design. The windswept-haired (smoking optional) male has been featured as the main character of Vampire Girl, at least four of these stories, and in every story in "Fetish". It's a beautiful looking figure but it's kind of annoying seeing it in every work.

I don't shed tears for ungrateful, manipulative, selfish, rude people, even if they do get cancer. Not everyone with cancer is a good person, as this manga clearly shows. Sometimes you reap what you sow and I'm not hesitating that maybe this horrible, debilitating and life-altering illness was simply karma. She was such an utter bitch, an utter and complete irredeemable bitch. I have no idea when she started becoming like this but not even her brief friendship with her childhood friend could make up for her shitty attitude towards everyone around her, even her parents who were with her the entire time (yet never once tried to steer her in the right direction).
I do admit that that sex buddy walking out on her after she revealed her breast was removed was very cold, but did she honestly expect a deep relationship from a guy who never seemed to show any interest in her other than her body and sex skills? She practically victimizes herself by trusting the wrong people and acting shocked when they stab her in the back. That's what happens when you're a horrible person that makes it very clear that you want none of this "sentimental, respectful" dynamic. Not everyone is going to be altruistic and selfless despite your shit like your childhood friend or the nurses or your mother.
TL;DR I'm glad she got cancer.

I was wary of the art when I saw the first page but it *immediately* sucked me in. This is probably one of my most favorite romance titles of all time. It is as good as everyone says and even more. It's dramatic without being cheap, heart-breaking without being over-the-top, and the female lead isn't annoying or clingy, nor is the male lead a one-dimensional "bad boy" caricature. They're real people naturally drawn to each other. It's like Grease if it was done much more realistically and without singing.

The story isn't the best or rather, it isn't really relayed very coherently in the beginning. It's only the third chapter and I'm already confused about the world they live in. If she's a half-demon then does everyone know this? Is this sort of a human-demon world where they coexist? If her mother was bitten by a demon does that mean that it's kind of like how full-on vampires are either dangerous or possibly benign, it's up to their personalities, or are full-on demons always trouble...

There aren't many manga out there centered around raising kids, so I think this was a nice, funny story. Only problem was that I quickly became confused as to which kid was named which. Only thing I have straight is that the the dads correspond to the child that DOESN'T have the same colored hair as him.

Normally when the male love interest is all "The only one I need is you" I think "Oh shut up" but with Tomoe it works. By God does it work. They're so freaking cute together!
(๑•ㅂ•)و✧

Maybe it's cause Tomoe, unlike the usual male love interests, does have a life aside from Nanami: he has Mikage and all his friends...
The teacher wants Azusa too? That honestly came out of left field for me. Either that or I didn't pick up the hints that the teacher was actually kind of fake-sincere.
Also "Similar caste system in American schools". I AM OFFENDED. We don't have the equivalent of prison rape in our schools! ヽ(`Д´)ノ
haha yeah but there is always room for improvement
I think that just may be where the "goth" concept came from. I mean, maybe "goth" was never a thing in Japan, so that particular type was borrowed from American schools (or TV shows and movies about American schools--and TV often makes it seem like our high school cliques are set in stone).
You know you're right. Closest they have is Gothic Lolita, but it's more fashion rather than preoccupation with the macabre (though I think there is Guro Lolita or something similar).
Yes--I think club gothic lolitas in Japan are very cute (like everything else)--it seemed weird to me that this high school makes "goths" take out earrings. I know they have uniforms, but that girl wasn't even wearing dark eyeliner or anything. How about a black ribbon or upside down cross for effect? :) It seems like she just wears a longer skirt.
Perhaps she was FORCED to get all those piercings as a Goth, but not necessarily expected to wear earrings in the holes since I think it would have been against school code?
Maybe. I think maybe they do not have a Hot Topic in Japan.
all this school concept is based on American stereotypes of teenagers in high school. From (prom) king and queen, to lower levels of popularity as goths and nerds. so i think that is the thing mangaka had in mind
And that girl in last chapter was forced to act like a goth and that's why she was crying for new sensei for leaving because now she need to act as a gloomy lonely character again
See, as an American, I don't see goths as lonely. They are dark, but they are not as weepy as emos--and even emos usually have other emos. (Nothing against goths or emos). Goths are closer to punk, or perhaps glam rock, but with different tunes.
Here is what the BBC says about it:
