Looks like dark haired actor isn’t as bad in first thought he was I wonder why he said he needed to wait though…
Side note: I wish he looked more like the cover. It’s what drew me in here in the first place, and I only stayed because I’m into MC as he was before. His personality gives a different layer to the smaller body he’s into.
The irony or sad thing in this whole situation is that Doheon would actually be ideal for her. She wants to lead her people, craves strength, and is angry at her father having been with a human. Ideally, if she wants to preserves the purity of the werewolf bloodline and ensure a strong lineage with someone who knows everything about her and loves her anyway (romantically or not), then Doheon is it. The fact that shes 99% likely to end up with a human werewolf hunter instead, sort of kills everything she’s thriving for and resents her father for. The only way she can redeem that aspect of their love story is if her goal is then to have mutts properly accepted and well-treated within the clan… or if she leaves the pack altogether, which would be super odd given how much of the pack is part of her identity. I’d be really surprised if the author shifted from the obvious predetermined line here… I’m personally a little thorn because I seriously love Doheon; he’s my favorite character in this. But I also enjoy seeing her dynamic with blondie and the way he’s in denial about his feelings for her. And most of all, I want to see him fall for her and struggle with that further.
1. The flashback on how they first got together was unnecessarily long. I just quickly scrolled through half the thing and none of the plot was lost on me.
2. How tf is it okay for her so called grandfather to say that shxt and for her to fkn apologize??!! Tf???!! The way I would’ve flipped him off and walked off, cutting both him and my stupid father out of my life!!! Never seen a scene more ridiculous. I was going to drop this but I need that family taken down so now I’m debating whether I should or shouldn’t drop it just yet… let’s look for raws first
Dang, I only clicked because the image drew me in and I was hyped about a dark skin woman for once but then I saw the title… now I don’t even feel like giving it a chance *sigh*
That was literally my point lmfao. Asian beauty standards = pale characters. I just explained the reason why there’s more pale MCs and why there won’t be any big changes to that. Hence why I mentioned it’s up to the reader to choose and search for the types of stories they want to read, because you can’t control what an entire country does with their work.
Web/to0ns has authors who are from several different races, and has multiple different skin toned mcs. You just have to look for them. It doesn’t make any sense to go for Asian comics that are directed towards Asian audiences with pale beauty standards, and expect them to be inclusive because they don’t care for international fans as they do their own country. (Doesn’t help when we’re all reading from an illegal site so no author would welcome us illegal readers opinions lol).
Oh
1) the “European” stories mostly depict European culture very poorly.
2) there are few mangas/webtoons with POC characters written by Asian authors. BUT you should understand that Asian people are not Black/Arab/other people, so author’s understanding will always be limited (even if they do research).
3) people on the internet get VERY FRUSTRATED when creators have POC characters and their image doesn’t match to other people’s preferences. And especially people get super mad at creators for even genuine acknowledged mistakes.
4) if you want to see it so bad, be the one to make it. Show everyone what could be
You’re totally right! There’s not much to do in the authors case. Setting aside their specific beauty standards, like you said, even when POC get included in the story- people get mad that the author doesn’t know enough, doesn’t display them properly, and say it’s inaccurate. Realistically unless someone has lived the life as a POC or been surrounded by diverse backgrounds, they will never be able to accurately depict POC in their stories. It’s no wonder that several asian authors don’t know a thing about POC when they likely haven’t gone outside their own country or interacted with anyone other than their own race
You are ignoring the fact that Asian countries, like Southwest or Southeast do have Brown people. Look at Malaysia, Indonesia, etc. There are Brown people existing. East Asians can write manga and webtoon including them. And Koreans, Chinese, and Japanese have visited plenty of South Asian countries to know it.
And SK and Japan do have immigrants from South Asia.
so it's absolutely an excuses for East Asians. And I'm East Asian, and I can honestly say that it's excuse. It's just racism
You are excusing the issues that East Asians have deep racist and colorist view points toward South Asians.
SK have immigrant population from South Asia due to low birth rate, and so is Japan. Which also causes huge anti immigrant protests against South Asians.
There are South Asians living in East Asia like Japan and SK, which these manga and webtoons are from. So saying it excusing the fact there is a huge colorism and racism issues.
I’m Asian as well, and that still doesn’t change my point. Even in southeast/west asian countries you realize the beauty standard STILL is pale. Why do you think whitening skin products are popular? Why do you think the most beautiful or popular actresses are much paler than majority of average citizens from their country. Many Indians can also attest to this since popular Bollywood actresses are often pale Indians and not darker skin tones. And just cause Asians VISIT a country does not mean they have enough knowledge lmfao. It’s like saying you went on a vacation to one country and say you’re an expert on the way they live.
Realistically one not a single race will ever know the FULL and accurate depiction of how another race lives. Because they didn’t live it. They didn’t live with their specific struggles, didn’t grow up in specific neighborhoods, didn’t know what the common daily lives of everyone was, down to the smallest details of relatability like eating a popular brand of snacks after school. Anyways you’re still not getting my point at all. Why don’t you do your own research, pick a random country and tell me how well you do when you recite your fictional story of that other race to their face, asking them if it’s accurate? You probably would never do that right?
Also, it's funny that you said you want it to see it so bad, be the one to make it. So, I cannot criticize Japanese or Korean authors being ignorant and racist toward Brown people from South Asia by ignoring their existence?
Your logic is like, I cannot criticize the quality of refrigerator, because I didn't build the refrigerator. Nah, I can. It's called criticism. Freedom of speech is two way streets. I chose not to read this webtoon, because I can.
You’re not criticizing, you’re just complaining about the lack of representation. I’m saying that you have a picture in your head of what could be shown, so show it to us.
There are a lot of South Asian people in Japan, but can you blame the native Japanese author for not representing others? Yeah, that’s sad. But most likely they wouldn’t be able to do very good job because they themselves are not South Asian, they don’t fully know struggles of South Asian people and never would.
I do want to see diversity too, I think many people want it.
But Do remember world and time we live in and how much bullying happens when the representation is not “perfect”.
Authors “could” but not “should” create out of other peoples’ wants (that’s mostly about money talking).
Do not shift blame and responsibility over representing your people to others, they won’t be able to do it “right” anyway.
It’s not excusing. You won’t be happy when white people do black representation (cos it’s mostly bad), same goes with Japanese and South Asian and, well, pretty mush anyone. You won’t ever be able to fully grasp the life of others.
And people on the internet are cruel and stupid. It’s just easier and safer to stay in comfort zone for creators. Can’t blame them. Coz look at yourself. You could spend your time creating something beautiful about minorities but instead you’re whining like a child that there’s is no dish to your taste in this huge buffet of life – and you do that over the work someone put a lot of effort and love into (and objectively fine one at that)
Guys, I can see you’re all very passionate about this topic, but all I really meant is I wanted to see dark skinned FLs in the type of stories I enjoy. When they draw dark skinned MCs in BL, they’re not trying to portray black or brown people. It’s just a dark skinned ML and that alone, endears the character to me. So I stay hopeful about that since quite a few stories have dark skinned men and a little few even have beautiful dark skinned female side characters. But they’re always side characters and I just want a main one, that’s all.
Absolutely love this. Wish it had 20+ chapters when I found this. Now I need to find the novel and hope it doesn’t disappoint. So far, light novels I’ve explored didn’t disappoint (“Trash of the Count’s Family”, “Eternally Regressing Knight”, “Marquis of Marron”, “I'll Just Save the World and Retire”) so I’m hoping this is another jackpot.

Here’s hoping the next time it happens, he isn’t on drugs… I definitely prefer him with the long haired brother.
