There are major plot holes in the original storyline. If it’s said that her father loves her so much, then why wouldn’t a reader know that if the story is told from 3rd person point of view?

    LatteGratte February 26, 2021 8:14 pm

In addition, wouldn’t the average reader at least question why the father gave her the knife? Or if the rumors about the crown prince are actually true?

    LatteGratte February 26, 2021 8:16 pm

I know if I were in her position, I would at least question that much instead of just believing things as I see it...

I think Mc stopped reading after the villainess died? Also the novel was about the protagonist so I guess it makes sense for the average reader to know little about the villianess.

MC needs to stop acting dense and look around her tho ^^’

And I agree, she needs to stop being so dense.

I do agree that it’s strange how the reader doesn’t know about the father’s affection for his daughter. However if you were the average reader of the novel from the story, where you didn’t know about the father’s affection for her, a knife given for suicide wouldn’t be that suspicious. Like what else would you think that this honorable grand duke, who dislikes his daughter, would give the knife for? But I do agree that there are plot holes, especially with how the story suddenly ended. It seems pretty obvious that there was a misunderstanding and the author really could’ve done a plot twist or something which would make her story much more entertaining. What author would leave a plot device like that to rot and just end it

    SPOILER

Actually, the first thing I will say is not a spoiler since it was said before in the webtoon : The dad said to Max that a weapon is not to kill but to protect someone or to defend yourself. In a way, he gave his precious dague to his daughter so that she can protect herself since he won't be there. Just by hearing this, I already thought that this was his intentions.

Secondly, and this is a spoil, the crown prince which is Max, was sent by the Duke to protect her in exchange for the duke to stop being neutral and supporting him as the next ruler.

But there is something I don't really understand from your questions, what rumors are you talking about? We have the time to discover if it was right or wrong, there is no need to be impatient. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

I disagree. 3rd Person Narratives may not be biased, but they're not omniscient. This kind of POV can exclude and include certain narrative details to fit the structure of the story better. Think of it this way; third person is when the words 'he, she or they' are used, and omniscient is when an unknown narrator relays the story with multiple POVS being used, and no narrative bias at all.

Since the 3rd Person POV is biased, adding all the narrative clues and examples we've got so far, it's only logical to assume that the father gave her the knife so that she would kill herself. Not to mention, if the story ended after that then there were no other clues to disprove the Duke's neglect of his daughter aside form a single 'Endure it'. Most readers do consume content mindlessly, and the ones that don't probably take some time to analyse. That being said, since MC has isekaied, I'm sure her survival is more important to her then the 'will he/won't he' question of whether her father loved her or not.

What I meant to say here was, since 3rd Person POV are baised, the readers couldn't have known that the Duke loved her. 3rd Person POV do focus on a single character, only they narrate the story from a he/she/they POV, whereas Multiple POVs focus on multiple characters, and Omniscient POVs focus on the thoughts, feelings and stories of each and every character as though the author is narrating the story.

The rumors that the Crown Prince is cruel. That is one of the bases for the story.

LatteGratte February 25, 2021 11:58 pm

I just read the promo, (I haven’t started reading the manwha) and the Crown Prince said he wouldn’t kill her. She just suddenly jumped the gun that he would torture her to death, based off of rumors that have no base. I have a feeling that the Crown Prince wasn’t actually going to kill her, rather, try to protect her in the original timeline. Even now reading the description, the Crown Prince sent her that letter that he wouldn’t kill her. Maybe it was a chance for her to survive. Perhaps she could have listened first, and If the Crown Prince really is a cruel man like said in the rumors, take the easy way out. However, she was not familiar with the Crown Prince. She could have figured out his personality right then and there, but didn’t. Maybe I’m jumping the gun, but I think the Crown Prince is a good person, and that those rumors are baseless. It’s just a huge misunderstanding about his personality.

And obviously (based on description), the current FL also thinks the same, even though rumors can’t always be said to be true;; I don’t see why she couldn’t have deducted that “I can try to meet the Crown Prince to see what he is like.” Instead of going into a craze about the rumors when they might not even be true. Whatever, though.

Edit: AND I saw the dark text for the Crown Prince or whatever, but WHAT IFFFFFFFF it’s just a facade??????? (Reading chap 1.)

Guys, the novel is on w*ttpad. It has 180 chapters and updates daily. Just search the user “yourwebnovel” and you’ll find it. The translation is good, too. Also. I suggest not judging Sian so negatively. He is a very good person. Very. Good. Person. Amazing person. I also find him a bit socially awkward and cute when he’s with Elena. Like when he asks for tea and constantly praises her. It’s so cute. People are like “well he hurt in the past,” “even if he’s nice now be hurt her in the past.” Elena still forgave him, and it’s not like she just hates him, she loves him too. (As described in the novel.) Just as she eventually forgave Ren when he harassed her and bullied her constantly in the past life. Check around the 30’s in the novel and you’ll find the equivalent to it.
And if you have a weak heart, be wary of of male lead syndrome. This is like a love square. (Raphael, Ren, Sian in the academy arc.) But then turns into a love triangle. (Sian and Ren after the academy arc.)
I found myself getting a case of 1st male lead syndrome. Yes, you read right. 1st male lead syndrome. While reading the novel, even though Sian is the male lead, it feels like he’s the second male lead because he doesn’t get a good amount of scenes. But, he does get a lot of meaningful scenes. You truly wouldn’t know who is the male lead unless you read spoilers. Well, actually, the author makes quite a few allusions to who the male lead is through writing. Describing Elena gaining feelings for Sian, and how the talk on the capital is like “rumors spread that L is Your Highness the Crown Prince’s lover”, how “L is going to be the next empress.” You’ll really have to read the novel to get a top notch experience. I think I’ll read the novel and wait until the manwha is completed because seeing negative comments about Sian makes my head hurt.
Anyways THE NOVEL IS ON W*TTPAD. SEARCH THE USER “yourrwebnovel” AND YOU WILL FIND IT. 180 CHAPTERS TRANSLATED.
It’s a very stressful read. Very. Stressful. Don’t get too attached to the male leads. The only one you can trust to get attached to is Sian.
NOVEL IS ON THE WATT OF THE PAD.

This is hilarious! I like this manga a lot. But everyone is taking it so seriously. It’s not that deep.

    youraedthiswrogn April 25, 2021 10:34 pm

Gonna hard disagree on that this isn't deep. Her reactions are the "comedy" tag here, and they are hilarious. The deepness comes from her actually taking her ruined childhood and how she doesn't want to be with him or in these situations he keeps putting her in seriously.

She's warming up to him, but that doesn't erase all his behavior and her no's. 1000 no's and a yes isn't yes even though it's no longer illegal... he quite literally imprisoned her. He even feels bad about it, he says he "didn't want to do this" before imprisoning her when she rejected his marriage proposal.

His rationale for all this is that it can't be helped because he "can't let her go" even though he says himself that he saw the princess training change her as a person. Even seeing her suffer for TEN YEARS he prioritized himself and when she went to leave him he tried to bribe her with that the training was over and that he'd give her the best life, when she said the damage was already done and said no he literally imprisoned her. It just layer upon layer of actual evil he's stacking up.

In that scene with Cayena and Razef walking away, Raphael wasn’t jealous. Don’t misunderstand. In the novel it said that he felt “regretful.” In the novel it also stated that he though Cayena was disgusted with him, which is why she avoided his touch. (Ofc that’s not it. Cayena thinks he’s a nice man.) Cause y’know, no one knew that he didn’t like to be touched.
