I promised myself I wouldn't engage in public warzones like this since I don't wanna get spit on but why, especially in this manhwa, is everyone so bothered by Jaekyung's backstory? Like believe me I hated the early chapters and the abuse as much as the next person I even made comments about it, but I've seen this so much in so many medias, the hate and absolute robbing of the capacity of a human to change. It's like the concept of atonement, growth, and change isn't something people are willing to grant to someone who did wrong things and made mistakes (because of trauma, mind you. Not that I think it's a valid excuse to be a horrible person and do horrible things, but at least it provides a point of understanding why the person's brain got fucked up like that. Better than being a dick just because.) like God accepts atonement and grants forgiveness but we humans can't. I know some things are unforgivable and you cannot come back from, but geez.
Anyway it's not like I think Dan should just easily forgive Jaekyung or whatever, but the name of this manhwa is literally Jinx, and it's revolving around his JINX, so it makes sense that you'd get to learn about his background and why this jinx happened. Why is everyone so pressed I think the author did a great job at linking all his past trauma to each aspect of his jinx routine, like he's compensating for every insecurity that's been etched into his self. I find that things are a lot clearer now and I can finally understand him better and understand what he does, and where he comes from, and while he still needs to face the consequences of his actions and truly atone and work for forgiveness, it's good that he can reach a point where he realizes his wrong ways and that he can wish and want for something that's not related to his desperate need for overcompensation.
That's the whole point of being human: you grow. You can't rob someone of this, and if you think you personally can never forgive or accept someone atoning and developing into a better version of themselves because the damage they did in your opinion is unsalvageable then it's fine you can stop reading about that character. As long as the change is natural, and the character is actually facing hardships for his choices and reaches a low point and starts rethinking his life choices and isn't just some halfbaked way for the author to get the couple together I think it's fine.
I do hope the author continues down that path and doesn't just half-ass it tbh, but if it's done well I'd truly love to see Jaekyung heal. I'd also love to see Dan learn to live happily, and be appreciated and loved the way he deserves. I don't care whether they end up together, I just hope both find their peace.
Love how everyone is too afraid of being a healthy empathetic person while understanding that empathy ≠ excusing so they have to said "it's not that sad" or "i feel bad for him BUT-" yea guys no buts you don't need to always stress the point that this doesn't justify any shitty thing he does don't worry you can empathize and feel bad for a child and teenager being abused and abandoned without being labeled idk a rape apologist.
The fact people actually get called that just for understanding a FICTIONAL character went through trauma is baffling and speaks volumes of how some people really shouldn't consume complex media.
Anyway I feel bad for what he went through that was indeed a lot for a kid his age to handle and impossible come out of mentally unscathed. His parents are evil.
I was wondering how the manhwa will handle things going forward from the novel, since in the novel it doesn't shy from crudeness, pervertedness, gore, and violence, and I think this chapter confirmed for me that they'd try to keep it as PG as they can lmao idk if they'll do the smut either.
In the novel, Abel was stripped naked in this scene before being taken outside the tent. He remained naked all along. Idk if they'll add that later, esp bec next scene is a prelude to rape...
I am just more sad about other graphic stuff I did wanna see, especially the gore. I didn't mind the next scene being accurately depicted either, I think it adds to the horror of it. I read this manhwa then continued with the novel and the novel feels even more horrifying it's a mood shift fr. Yea there are funny bits, but the details in this story later on matter a lot in terms of explicitness even gore wise
C'mon Guwon I've been trying to defend you in all my theories you're making it hard for me rn
I'll try anyway: what if this is just Teach experiencing flashback hallucinations and we can't actually tell what's currently happening and what's just a mesh of past and present memories
I mean why is the body still there without being decomposed?? It's been a looong while since teach left and ain't no way they would miss the smell of it, and the doctor wouldn't mistakenly say "they may still be breathing" or suggest to check because you'd immediately notice a decomposed body right away and it will have real maggots and worms. The whole place would reek... The whole scene is off and Teach had time loss right before it so idk if i can trust what was shown rn at face value
I absolutely loved this so much but I'm devastated at not getting any sides for Cassian. I know Rael is happy now, so I am not bothered at the lack of Rael side stories (tho I would've been happy for one at least) but Cassian suffered so much. Did he make a mistake? Yeah, but it wasn't put of selfishness or greed or vile intentions, he really didn't know any better method. He had to learn in the hardest and worst way what happens to anything he cherished, and he feared the same fate reaching Rael badly enough for him to pull such a scheme. I am surprised that this bit is the only bit I cried and in this story, considering the worst shit there. I feel truly bad for him because whole Rael is now happy, he isn't. He is content that she's happy even if it's away from him, but I don't think Cassian had his happy ending and that leaves a spur taste in my mouth
These new turn of events, while not shocking, were a ride.
I wouldn't call Guwon a green nor a red flag. It's more complicated than that, because I don't think Guwon is sane in the sense of a mature person capable of normal thinking with a normal set or morality/moral compass. And it has nothing to do with him being good or bad, it's because I genuinely believe he was created, physically. I think he's some sort of Frankenstein, with all those stitching marks. He is incapable of rational thinking, and he's just yearning to be a savior.
Now, to analyse (please bear with my ranting, or abandon this comment since it'll be a yapping session):
Guwon is deadset on being Sisyphus, the boulder being this town's peace, and he doesn't know anything else beyond that. This could be a thought ingrained in him as a purpose for existence, or a desire that bloomed out of desperation for being tormented by death earlier. If we go with the Frankenstein theory, and that the undead were an experiment gone awry, then it could be that Guwon escaped and now longs to stop the same fate reaching others, though due to the torture and instilled fear he faced he knows not how to get to others otherwise.
We've seen that Guwon actually mimics other humans a lot, he learns through their behavior then repeats what he learns, and despite all his attempts to fit in, he still inspires fear and horror in other humans when they witness his violence causing them to go to the safe haven he creates for them without any hassle, which to Guwon proves to be a solid fool-proof method. He doesn't need to think on right or wrong, as long as his intention is to keep them safe.
He longs to fit in so bad with others that he's at war between being feared so they can follow him and stay safe, or being loved and accepted but causing that seal tight foundation be shaken. That's why he yelled at teach asking if he's wrong, a twisted desire to see the same reaction others have given him: fear, submission, detachment. But he was challenged, he was called out and reprimanded and scolded like the kids, like humans fighting each other, like family members arguing,,, like normal. And that's why he caved in easily. He realized he doesn't actually like being feared, despite knowing that fear is the "only" way to keep the people safe.
That's why teach is not like the others. He's not selfish in his fear, and he's not a coward despite what teach thinks of himself. He even thought he's willing to be trialled for standing up for the people's well-being, and to Guwon that's a sentiment he too can understand, because that's ultimately his aim too. In Guwon's eyes, teach is selfless, loved, not feared by others, the kids follow him, the people are willing to ask him for him, and he embraced Guwon from the beginning, teaching him all of the things that made him feel closer to a human than he ever felt. And to top it off, he isn't afraid of slapping him, yelling at him, reprimanding him, or telling him he's wrong. This is why we see Guwon now acting so giddy and happy despite the obvious chillness that exists for everyone else, he truly is unaware and not in a "oh no my boy will be affected once he becomes aware" no I mean he's mentally unaware of anything because he's not exactly the sane we consider on our sanity metric.
Bottom line is, I don't think Guwon is actually a bad person, nor a red flag. Teach has every right to be rattled, and it's not his responsibility to teach or fix Guwon at all, but I do hope he calms down and start seeing the deeper facets to Guwon's personality and character, and not hold him in such a fearsome and disgusting light.
This story has been very interesting so far, so I have high hopes for the author continuing this in such a complex way!
If you've read so far, thanks and sorry I am high on multiple sugar packed cookies rn

I'll get so many dislikes for this but I've seen so much "rape" and "rapist's child" and "he was raped!!" Going around that I had to go reread the og manhwa just to make sure I remember correctly and yes, as I've remembered, it wasn't... Uhm.. exactly as brutal as people make it.
Was Hyesung out of his mind? Yes, he was on his heat. Should Dojin have fought him harder and rejected him with more resolve? Yes. However, it's not like Dojin pinned him down against his will. I know consent at this time was very dubious, near lacking, due to the pheromones, but come on. Dojin wasn't actually taking advantage of him with malicious intent. He tried stopping him (not the first time to try stopping him when he's in heat) and even when he caved in he immediately wore a condom to prevent causing him harm, they were just unlucky. Even the reactions between them afterwards wasn't that of a rape incident. Hyesung was throwing a tantrum as usual but mostly out of embarrassment that he jumped Dojin in the middle of the night.
I'm also gonna say this even tho I'll be called slurs but this is a fantasy setting, guys, the pheromones and heat cycles and shit probably affect them more than we can fathom because we base attraction, desire, and the willpower to push off someone coming on to us on human references and feelings and experiences. I'm not saying Hyesung's strong heat pheromones are an excuse for Dojin to lose control of his resolve to push him away and instead take advantage of him, but I'm saying it played a factor. I'll never understand people making Dojin out to be a demon here when he's just made mistakes that he himself admitted and atoned for like any normal person. It's not like being jumped constantly when you're trying to sleep and having your dick sucked when you didn't ask for it isn't harassment too. What are you gonna say guys? Ooooh Hyesung was in heat he couldn't help it? Oh Hyesung was out of it he couldn't hear his protests? OH DOJIN LOWKEY WANTED IT THAT'S WHY HE DIDN'T PUSH HIM OFF WITH ENOUGH FORCE?
you know how that will sound?
So just say the pregnancy was a mistake none of them wanted due to a night both had when they were not thinking straight, acknowledge Dojin never actually intended to take advantage of him or rape him and was also subjected to his advanced, pheromones, and begging for a child and sex, and move on. We have other shit to actually hold them all accountable for and you're holding on to the one incident and making it seem like Dojin was a demon. The word "Rape" is used so lightly these days.
Me and u the only 2 ppl with sense here !!
I was literally the same thing so yeah LOUDER
It's so funny because people keep saying he's so real for this and they would've aborted their rapist's child or that he never had to actually take the child to term or return to it, but none of them considered that also maybeeee, given the history we know of Hyesung's parents, Hyesung himself could've been a rape child too. His mother could've been forced to deliver him because his father hoped he'd be an alpha, and she hoped too for the sake of the abuse to stop, but he was an omega and then the abuse got worse. Would they then give his mother the same leniency and understanding they're giving Hyesung, saying it's okay and she never had to deal with her rapist's child?
The cycle continues and I find the comments lashing out harshly absurd. We should own each of them to their mistakes without labelling someone good and the other evil. Humans are much more complex, and no one is free of fault. In fact, we go through life and situations where we ALL are at fault in it causing it to reach certain conclusions, but that's life.
Exactly this dojin hate is really forced...there are worse character out there who get away but suddenly a dojin hate Fandom started lol...he could be hated for being manipulative etc but straight up telling rape is too much...after all hyesung himself went to his house and stayed...People act like he is a kid bruh...he was 20!...not 15yrs kid...People will do anything to make the tops always bad even when both are equally at fault
How I wish I can pin your comment
Are you stupid? Hyesung literally left so many times, when he's about to live with his friend, Dojin literally goes caca and assault him. Be so fucking fr. Dojin hate is justify, he literally baby trap hyesung and assaulted him many times y'all just defending this pos just because he's attractive lmfao.
Exactly!!...my point finally... baby trapped thats the correct term manipulative toxic shit controlling...yes all that he is ?dojin is? Yes and he should be hate for all that not for raping...like i said rape is a strong word it comes with lot of things ...u cant tell someone rapist just like that...if u actually ever come across something like that u will understand what i meant
He didn't baby trap him exactly tho as well. He didn't "rape" him and he didn't impregnate him intentionally. The sex after Hyesung was leaving for his friend is what I can drag Dojin for, because yea that was coercion, but he kept apologizing and trying to make up for it. Yes begged Hyesung to keep the baby, but also told him he understands that it's ultimately his choice, he just hopes he takes the baby to term and he'll help him and being him anything he wants. Hyesung asked "and after it's born? Then what?" And Dojin said "I will be the one to take care of it! You don't have to do anything at all" and while it is a big manipulative (without any ill intent tho) he was still true to his word cause
1) Hyesung was immature and shallow enough to be lured in by money and finally no debt to pay this alpha who is like a dog doing tricks for me so he agreed to keep the baby
2) When Hyesung left, Dojin didn't being him back by force or act like how y'all words about him will make anyone who didn't read think he acted like, and he did take care of Byul on his own and never blamed Hyesung.
Also, lets just establish that Hyesung left Byul not because he was a "rape child" but because:
1) he realized how big of a responsibility it is the moment he gave birth, and that the shallow bits of money and hormones that made him cling to Dojin are now gone and he has to face parenthood and he didn't feel ready
2) it brought PTSD of his childhood and his mother abandoning him and his father abusing him, and the fact he also has to face the future of figuring put his child's secondary gender and that he could be an omega, which brings us to
3) he still had so much internalized prejudice to omegas and being an omega and he hated himself for being one, and giving birth to Byul was the final nail on the coffin and the biggest neon sign that he is, in fact, an omega, and that he can no longer deny it
The Hyesung mia bits are actually so much more complex and a HIM problem mostly than people keep making it out to be just to hate on Dojin and pinning bigger blames on him that what he deserves. In the end, Hyesung went back for Byul AND DOJIN willingly, and never out of obligation or coercion or manipulation. And he stayed for them. And we see him now happily married and with another child, which is meant to show how much he came to accept himself as an omega too. That's the whole point of his journey, but people keep pinning "rape" to the story that it's dumbing it down a lot.
To re-establish tho, cause maybe the first bit of my reply was misleading.
I don't believe the pregnancy sex was rape, it was dubious consent as worst, from BOTH sides. I don't think Hyesung was baby trapped. Like how he threw tantrums to try and leave to his friend, and how he managed to leave Byul after birth, he could've aborted the child. He agreed to keep the child to have luxury, money, no debt, a nice place to stay, and a doting alpha at his beck and call. That's why he was shallow, insincere to Dojin most of the time which was a bit unfair to Dojin who legitimately cared, and had him not think seriously of the consequences.
There are other times that Dojin was an asshole in, and I don't believe him free of fault at all, I just find the demonizing of him and pinning more blame than what actually is rightfully his ridiculous.
Oh wake it up !!
