Nakyum with that carrot!

And SH seeing him.

I hearts! I hearts hard!

Spoilers
(*no translation though, just thoughts on raw 38)

Nakyum is showing himself to at least be learning in one aspect of things - in regards to that Jackass Sir.

When I looked at the raws for chap38 and how Sir rushed to Nakyum's room to get the 411 on Seungho, I saw the number of response dialogue bubbles from Nakyum and his demeanor and thought: Nakyum knows Sir is digging and seems to be keeping quiet about Seungho's business.

And some kind soul, who translated some of the chapter in the comments, confirmed that Nakyum lied to Sir and kept Seungho's conversation to his brother private.

Nakyum started to see through Sir after the bastard didn't bother to inquire after Nakyum well-being after Seungho dragged him away and while he was dangerously ill soon after.

That jerk uses people but doesn't lay the groundwork so that they don't feel like they are being used in the first place. Inquiring casually about Nakyum's well being once or twice would have been enough to keep Nakyum's fervent devotion and wouldn't have taken anything from Sir's time.

Also, Sir knows Nakyum likes him and he manipulates him, by playing the earnest, out of his league Sir but upping the level physical contact and closeness to Nakyum. I hate that jerk.

When it comes to Seungho, NK is getting more layers exposed to him. He can't read him so that scares him but he has been tempted by him. He didn't have any hang ups about his sexuality, and could read NK like a book (except when jealous - to terrible results)

I also thought that NK may be starting to manipulate Seungho, but if he is what he is uttering at the moment is sincere. I really think that part of Seungho's intense attraction to Nakyum has to be due to Nakyum's unfailing sincerity and earnestness.

He can tell when Nakyum lies to him, choose to confront it or let it slide.

But when Nakyum is earnest, whether about Sir's "virtues" while insulting SH in the process or when he utters something to get out of a dangerous situation with SH like on Chap 34 when Sh wants him in the room and NK is like: "Not today, Satan!" Nk counters SH not by protesting but by sincerely uttering that he is leaving so that SH could sleep, SH is taken aback.

Unlike some, I interpret some of SH initial actions as often being what they looked like from the get go.

When SH made to kiss NK on Chap 34, he just wanted a kiss. It was spontaneous after NK said he was leaving so SH could sleep. SH didn't want him to leave to make his illness worse just because SH had returned. He wanted NK to stay because he was unwell and because SH room was the warmest.

When SH approached NK on Chap 36, and said he wanted NK to sit closer to him, he wanted NK to sit closer to him.

But he has a horrid response to NK's rejection. It is like the man is missing an internal set of brakes. I noticed that he acts the worst when his initial intentions are misread. It is like he tells himself: Oh, you expect the worse from me? I'll show you how bad I can be then.

When he took advantage of Nakyum while drunk, he made multiple attempts to burst Nakyum's delusion that he was with Sir and was ready to play the cad, and SH failed spectacularly.

When he made NK perform oral sex on him (emphasis on made), he became aggressive when he saw Nakyum's tears (again NK's justified rejection of him). He wouldn't restrain it and decided that since NK thought the worse of him, had proof of it at this point, he would just have him by force.

I'll take a guess now and say that that response has direct ties to his father and SH has been cultivating it for 10 years now.

"You think I'm the worse? I'll level up to 9000."

Yeah, I get that the servants aren't treated the best. I remember that beating SH gave them after NK ran off. And I get it isn't much better for them.

But NK was minding his own business, drinking himself to an early grave when SH decided to sequester him.

Then SH decided to honor NK with his D. I think they are so used to getting a bad deal, where they see NK as getting it good. They give zero fs and hold no sympathy for NK's plight which I think does a great job in showing you how mercenary people's attitudes were long, long ago.

He is getting food, a nice room, doesn't obey the lord and isn't beaten to near death. So what if he is forced to sleep with him. At least, he gets to sleep all day after. They are hardcore.

Still some would actually consider NK a trademan/craftman which would still be a level higher than servant.

Can't wait for 58 since it appears that we get the reason for Black Tortoise's turn to evil.

These are just some questions on my part...

Spoilers of current story might be included...

Ok.

I have been wondering if Dojin holds the key to stop the cycle of loss that Yellow Dragon and Dojin have been going through.

Now, I have no way of knowing if this is the case since Yellow Dragon and Dojin have gone through this 27 times.

Initially, I wondered why the Dragon wouldn't tell Dojin what was to come so he would keep his guard up, why the Spirit Animals or extra precautions weren't taken around Dojin since assassination attempts were be inevitable.

Dojin seems to be the oddity here since it looks like the other emperors before him lasted longer. The first emperor, the twin that got his older brother to be the sacrifice instead of him, looked like he reached adulthood (so he lasted a few years at least). While Dojin, seems to be given very little time with Yellow Dragon.

The story feels like they are heading towards a tragedy because we are getting Yellow Dragon's goodbye to Dojin. He is sure this is the end of him and therefore his time with Dojin so he wants to get all the time he can with the man he loves.

Dojin, on the other hand, is kept (or least he tries to keep) worried free and unaware of the times he came back, their previous history and the dangers that surround him. The way Dojin takes those cakes from hot guy (whose name slips from my mind) freshly after coming back from near death after his wine was poisoned was crazy to me since he is aware that this happened (he didn't die, Yellow Dragon, sent him back in time that's why the number of death is still 27, I think).

Yellow Dragon may have tried this before (preparing Dojin for the worst) and it didn't work out. Or he has lost him so quickly after getting him back that he can only think about spending more time with Dojin.

But the story that we are getting now is Yellow Dragon being resigned to losing Dojin forever. It is like he has tried everything and nothing has worked and now he knows he is out of power and that means that if he goes, so does the opportunity of being with Dojin.

But I don't know.

I don't think it will be a tragedy.

I think something about Dojin is not meant to be in that world. They get all these people from Dojin's world who may or may not die young but who aren't held back by their deities.

I know Yellow Dragon is different and more powerful than the others. But Dojin is also special above all the other emperor's in Yellow Dragon's life. He changed him to Yellow Dragon (his scales were that of the black snake before Dojin) and he was the only one that was kind and broke through YD's detached nature. The only one that YD loved.

But I think that what might not have been tried before is Yellow Dragon dying in his world, and that perhaps that would allow him to be reborn in Dojin's.

As I said, this is all speculation on my part, and questions I have been asking throughout the story.

P.S.

Also, I had thought that that rapist SOB would play a bigger part in all of this and for now, he appears to have fizzled out. Just like that he lost interest in Dojin. Maybe he just affected the Tortoise and that was it but I really expected him to have bigger role.

Instead, it just seems like no matter what, Dojin is not supposed to be there because every effort to protect him is always met with failure. The spirit animals knew the urgency of being around Dojin but kept being held back and this time around even got murdered which I assume has to be a huge no no in that world.

    DoopDoop February 22, 2020 5:00 pm

I forgot about that stupid pearl thing which I totally missed in the reading of the Manhwa.

Definitely the pearl will play a big part in all this.

    afroluv February 23, 2020 5:21 pm

    Random thoughts...I
The first emperor was yooshin's twin and was killed by YD so his longevity has nothing to do with Dojin's.

As it stands right now, Yellow Dragon is dying because his dragon pearl energy source was destroyed and he's been consuming his own power to turn back time for Dojin. I seem to remember it had been 150 years since yooguk had a new emperor when D#27 got there. (Somehow, the old and dying Dojin in oyr reality had a pearl like object he tried to hand him before that bird bastard got in the way in a dream a few chapters ago.)

Dojin #27 is definitely a peculiarity, first he was not meant to be emperor, the cat spirit switched places with him, then he showed up three days earlier than expected (not to mention his dream changed after the energy exchange with YD) ...an earlier incarnation turned the god's black scales into yellow/golden scales--probably thru the power of love, kindness and gentleness which is why YD is my cinroll seme--cause he reflects that back on his bae. Third, Dojin#27 is the first incarnation to ask/learn about the others and take measures to protect himself better as well as take on the burden of protecting Yooguk, but more than that...these last two incarnations have been encouraging YD to be free. #26 told him to dream for himself. #27 snuck him outside the fortress to see how his people lived and also asked him to come back to his reality and stay with him.

It surprises me how lax they are in dealing with the assassination attempts on Dojin, it isn't like they don't know who is behind it. Why was that one guy not put down? Seriously just bc YD can delay Dojin's death here doesn't mean they shouldn't take steps to prevent that.

It is a crazy coincidence that the bird guy committed suicide over losing Dojin in their reality and ends up an emperor in Bukro. I read another spoiler that the tortoise god had a female emperor he loved so it sucks she got replaced with that rapist jerk. And is he realky a tortoise? What happened to the other great snake who was supposed to be a god? YD's original snake form gobbled up yooshin while that other snake slept? Sh!t there are so many plotholes in this story, I understand why so many people are confused.

    DoopDoop February 23, 2020 6:35 pm

Agree about the first emperor (family, too fresh and attached still).

Yeah, that entire pearl thing totally blew right by me, so I didn't take it into consideration when writing the above.

Also even though Dojin's memories were erased, the last two times he has been sent back he broke his usual ending in his world and never married which I think he had done several times before.

I don't get the lack of security. If anything, that's the one weakness to the story. Even if they had been betrayed before and YD couldn't trust anyone around Dojin, he could have had their surroundings protected. Also, the animal spirits. I get he was there earlier than expected but it has been 27 times, you think that their guard would be up more than anyone else's (except YD).

On Suhoon (Crazy bird guy) this is why I thought he would play a bigger role in this because it felt like this was something that YD would have known about. Maybe he did and that's why he looks like he feels guilty when Dojin tells him that he knows he would never hurt him or that he is always kind.

I thought Suhoon was there as some sort of manifestation of YD gone wrong or some mistake on his part because it doesn't seem possible that YD would be able to watch that happen to Dojin over and over again. Maybe, in a way, that's what caused Dojin to be more active in his own protection and in helping YD.

I guess the role he played was just finishing off Black Tortoise. Chapter 58, shows the Black Tortoise still in front of the God he was praying to on 57 and it shows the loss of his empress and how deeply he loved her. But Suhoon also appears to reject him and it looks like he cut his wrist and that drives him over the edge (I don't read Korean but it seems like it is going that way). You get another image of him seeing YD and Dojin hugging and looking at each other lovingly and he decides to take YD's emperor away.

Bird boy isn't shown after that so I don't know what happened to him.

Like you said, there are quite a few plot holes here and I don't think this is the type on manga that ties up all loose ends when it concludes. I think some of the plot holes may be accidental, lost in translation or just dead ends.

Well that explains her enmity but I think she'd make a poor god. I doubt she has yooguks wellbeing as top priority. Also Yooshin was the key for YD to become the god he is...there are no more royal family members who could be the sacrifice, right?

I think YD stepped in just in time and Dojin may have fainted. He seems to be taking him away and the animal spirits may not be able to stop him this time around but just know that two of the animal spirits are unaccounted for.

On the second viewing, neither the usurper wannabe, nor the Lotus broad were killed. I thought the Dragon's poison harmed them but sadly, no. The same poison grabbed a hold of Dojin and brought him into his arms (le sigh).

But they were terrified because YD knows who is behind the assassination attempts now (I guess), and he may not be put into sleep (I guess).

Both YD and Dojin are injured though.

Did that bastard emperor of his corrupt him?

And if only it were only possible in real life for psychotic, obsessive rapists to drop the object of their desires after they went so far as to kill themselves for them, because they "belong" to someone else, the world would be a better place.

Some thoughts (Spoilers ahead)

First off, I wish the very best to the creators of this story. Their health issues appear to be very serious and here they are working their bums off. Really outstanding people.

In that note, I would hate to see this story rushed or stopped because of it but I would understand and support them in their decisions. Please support this story if you can. Thank you.

To my thoughts on this story.

I completely blame Sohwa and Miha's father for the situation his sons are finnding themselves in.

It is pretty clear that their father's hatred of Miha is a complete projection to his hatred/feelings for Miha's mother.

Miha has not even had the opportunity to develop a personality to cause the level of hatred his father exhibits for him. All Miha can do is try to make himself as unoffensive, submissive and bland as possible to not cause his father's ire.

Yet nothing he does gets a positive reaction from this man. Everything offends him, to the extreme. Everything make Miha too low to be acknowledged. He is treated as trash, called it in multiple occasions.

All Miha's father sees is Miha's mother in every action, word and look. Miha looks like her so her "flaws", her "traits", her "crimes" are all Miha's. He doesn't need to commit them, he is guilty simply from coming from her womb.

Sohwa sees all this from a very young age and understands it as this being the way that things are supposed to be.

Sohwa is shown to us as a very confident and very affectionate child who is being very deliberately groomed by his father to take over for him in a crime syndicate.

His father nurtures the things he likes about Sohwa and that he sees are a reflection of himself. That also means he makes sure Sohwa has all the callousness and cruelty required for his future job. Whether, this is something Sohwa displays as a child or something all children display at some point (pulling the wings off a bug) we might not know but his father knew he needed to feed that impulse because it would be a helpful trait for Sohwa later in life.

Sohwa, on the other hand, probably loved his older brother as a child but did not understand what brotherly love was. His father treated Miha as something "worthless" of affection, care, life, and decency.

This is reinforced over and over again to Sohwa and he is encouraged and expected (whether told to or not) to do the same.

So Sohwa eventually finds himself twisting those feelings he had for his brother to sexual possessiveness. Abusing Miha is the acceptable physical contact according to their father's logic and for Sohwa, it turns into sexual abuse of Miha because unlike his father he actually held affection for Miha.

Don't misunderstand me - this is twisted - not an excuse.

But the way I see it, his father HATES Miha, cannot abide him...but Miha is his blood. So he holds a certain responsibility, which he resents bitterly, for Miha. I am sure he didn't kick him out before Sohwa was stabbed because he didn't want to take Sohwa's plaything away. He detests his oldest son for whatever sins his mother did.

But Sohwa loved his brother yet he didn't understand that was a normal feeling to have because he had been told Sohwa was unworthy and beneath him by the person that he admired and worshiped - their dad. If their dad doesn't love Miha, then something must really be wrong with Miha. I also don't think he understands there are other types of love other than those with a sexual component to them.

From Miha's POV, Sohwa appears to have started abusing him after Rihan left.

He said that he always thought he was some sort of poor substitute for Rihan because as he understands it, Rihan left to study abroad as a refusal to Sohwa's desires to move to an intimate relationship.

Miha also confirms his feelings were twisted to love for Sohwa after having suffered through their encounters at the beginning. The relationship has always been forced but now, for Miha, is has the extra f'ed up component of having turned into love for the abuser.

I think that Rihan leaving was the catalyst (the excuse at least) for Sohwa. I am not sure he didn't start "substituting" Rihan with Miha before this but I think that it definitely gave Sohwa permission to do as he pleased with Miha because he felt he lost Rihan and he could take it out on Miha unquestioned.

But Sohwa also confirms as his memory returns (up to that point, I thought Sohwa had been faking his memory loss) that he loved Miha but he (Sohwa) had ruined things between them and there was no way to fix it (no turning back). So he kept going and kept telling himself that Miha was a toy that he would get tired of someday.

Sohwa forced himself on Miha and by the time he realized that, no, Miha wasn't a toy and that he was, indeed, now in love with Miha and not Rihan, that Miha wasn't a placeholder or a practice toy to take his frustrations on, it was too late to fix things. He had done to much damage that he sees as irreparable.

Look at how enraged he became when he discovered that Miha was in the process of leaving him. How he looks at Miha's reactions when they are in the act, even in the first chapters, he is aware of everything Miha does like he is obsessively looking for a hint of hope.

He is livid when Miha pulls away from him, or when he doesn't reply that he loves him (and I thought it was because he was blind to what he was doing to cause Miha's reactions but he is fully aware and lashes out because he sees their relationship as hopeless - through his own doing).

He knows what Miha likes and doesn't like. And Miha isn't aware of it. He just keeps on calling Sohwa's kindness.

The only thing he doesn't allow himself to see is that Miha, despite Sohwa's treatment of him, actually loves him. Sohwa can't see that because he feels guilty of what he did and hopeless that he can fix it.

But he can't let Miha go. He would rather keeps things as they are with Miha hating him as he believes than not have him. The entire scene when Sohwa gets his memories back shows you his way of thinking: his guilt, his despair and his choice to have Miha at all costs even if it hurts Miha, even if Miha hates him.

I think Sohwa as he is now and he showed it while suffering from amnesia would not care about his father's approval or opinion if he thought he had a chance with Miha. But as a child, who worshipped his father and had a very limited view of the world, he did so much damaged to his and Miha's relationship and then crossed a line he can't turn back from.

The child Sohwa could have always stayed a brother with Miha if not for his limited exposure of the world but the person he became broke those bonds forever.

    (Spoilers ahead)

I hope they will return soon. But their health comes first!!! Yes I would hate for it to be rushed or be dropped.

I know Sohwa is toxic and puts Miha through a lot but I am glad that someone else sees him as a victim as well. He was raised to be a criminal/gangster and seen how his father treated Miha. I do think Sohwa is conflict like when he goes to put the blanket on Miha but tosses it instead. His father created Sohwa and imprint his hate on him. But some of it is Sohwa. He does not like when Miha is scared of him or afraid of touching him. He gets mad and reacts violently scaring Miha even more.. I bet he would not be acting that way toward Miha if his father did not imprint the hate.

Sohwa, asked his father about getting everything he own once he got married and asked about Miha with a blush. He has a crush on him then. Maybe wanting to marry Rihan to get Miha was his idea back then? Seeing how Miha was more of object to his father

I think there is a possibility that Miha is not related to them.

“From Miha's POV, Sohwa appears to have started abusing him after Rihan left.” I think I got this impression as well. If this is true Miha loved Sohwa before the (sexual) abuse happened. He has been jealous about how close they have been but they have been on bad terms currently. I think I get the impression that Rihan and Sohwa has something but at one point it revealed Sohwa loves Miha more. My current understanding is Rihan was actually a replacement for Miha, in ways.
I had also thought he was faking it because their are moments where he acted like his old and how he “knew” things. He did have generalize amnesia, which they can have some Memories or lose them all. He had to have some for how he know he and Miha has sex before and his affect for Miha.

In chapter 21 we learn Miha is 28. I seen a Spanish summary stating Sohwa is 8 years younger. Wait! Miha birthday is January 1. Making Sohwa 19 at the beginning and turn 20 in chapter 5. If he has been sexually abusing Miha since Rihan left.... Miha would had been 25 and Sohwa 17.

He does not fully understand relationships and probably don’t know how to express himself with how his raised. Some of his outrages is him not knowing how to handle himself and being insecure.
He has been excessively and obsessively watching Miha. I don’t know if it is a hint of hope but when he regained all his memories. He probably remembers the last two weeks of Miha being different toward him and his ego grow and he expects Miha to return by himself not realizing Miha was being crushed. Oh in Korean and Spanish version Sohwa’s last line before Hyung is a question. English has it as “you like it when I act like a kid.”
It is suppose to be “you don’t like me when I pretend to be a child.” We don’t know how Sohwa would has reacted to Miha afterwards but we may never know one for the author Health and the story seems like a few things are going to happen before They meet again.
The description of the summary says however, an incident takes place that helps Miha and Sohwa to reflect and figure out what they are feeling for each other. Was Sohwa being stabbed that incident? Or has it not happen yet? For Sohwa to snap of how he has been imprinted on maybe someone bad has to happen to Miha before he understands? I don’t know.
I feel like Sohwa dislikes How Miha acts but repeats the same actions to get different results. I think that is a sign of insanity! But maybe he will reflect on those two weeks and learn how to treat Miha better.

I think you hit the nail on the head with your comment that Sohwa doesn't understand relationships and doesn't know how to act.

The environment that both Miha and Sohwa had been raised on and the expectations (or in Miha's case lack of expectations) put on them have shaped them to be in the situation they are in.

Miha is going to grab on to anything, even the little crumbs of affection, he gets from Sohwa.

Sohwa on the other hand is expected to take without a thought or apology because that's what is expected of him as a crime lord.

He has only seen Miha being mistreated by everyone so he does it too. He wanted Miha but it never occurred to him to court him like he did Rihan, maybe because he feared he would refused because they were brothers or maybe because Miha's feelings were always there to be disregarded.

I am not suggesting Sohwa doesn't have any responsibility in what he has done. But rather than just insane I see him as someone that f'ed up royally, doesn't see a way out and keeps bluffing his way out. Instead he just keeps digging that hole deeper every time.

The conflict he feels in regards to Miha seems to be due to his belief that he cannot fix what he destroyed.

Maybe I am reading too much into chapter 16, but that whole inner monologue to me seemed to show the two trains of thought warring inside Sohwa but when he gets his I memories back we also see how Sohwa chooses to deal with these thoughts. He will bulldozed over his conflicting feelings and Miha's if it means he can have him.

I also agree with you that Rihan is probably the replacement for Miha (he even had his father's approval for him and all that), that why Miha's unreliable POV is important here.

Sohwa appears to be operating under the belief that everything is hopeless with Miha so he rather force him because he cannot fathom that Miha could love him after everything Sohwa has done to him (actually this is a very logical response).

Miha, on the other hand, has gone through so much abuse and made to feel so worthless that he has attached himself to Sohwa, despite what he has made him endure.

I had not caught Sohwa's age until you pointed it out either. I knew he was younger and this seems to be one of the few mangas that actually reflect the correct age difference in the flashbacks.

The age difference is a big component too. Sohwa, a boy that gets all he wants without questions and whose worst instincts are being nurtured by his father, has the added recklessness of being a thoughtless, aggressive teenager.

Miha may be older but he doesn't have any defense to wield against the little savage prince. He is horrifyingly accustomed to being mistreated and his only defense would be to be submissive towards the abuser.

I think Sohwa, as he was during his amnesiac state, showed the sweet boy he used to be at least towards Miha because this state erased all the preconceived notions he had about Miha from before. It erased their past and all he knew was his sincere attraction for Miha. He wasn't even bothered by the fact that they were brothers.

Not having his love and the thought of Miha leaving him brings Sohwa over the edge. I feel like this is what keeps Sohwa in the borderline of insanity, mainly due to the blind spots in his thinking.

I think Sohwa is maturing now but cannot deal yet with the gravity of what he has done and the thoughts of losing Miha.

I am just guessing here from seeing the raw today, but I had the suspicion that Jihwa was in love with SH and felt very secure in his position as SH's constant lover.

Now, he is either becoming fully aware of it or he is so distraught by being sidelined by SH, that he has lost all decorum.

Don't know if he knows anything of what has happened in SH's house seen he was thrown out of it, except his suspicions being confirmed by SH that he was indeed interested in NK.

But if he is spreading his suspicions about SH & NK around than his pride wasn't a factor.

Anyway, breathlessly waiting for some kind angel to translate this latest raw.
