PatrickStar created a topic of Swallow You Whole

Did the art get better? Because every panel has me staring in awe. Them backlit against the tv screen in chapter 32? Sooo beautiful. Also the billion close ups of Lord Mugo? Yes!!! And also MC’s chest is chesting, it’s distracting haha.

PatrickStar created a topic of Incomplete Combustion

I nominate the artist for President of the World. Because wow, hang this in the Louvre. Every scene is a work of art.

Also, I cannot handle how good this is and I despise plot lines with abusive fucked up men like the boss. It makes me want to hurl but I can’t help but read this, it has taken my soul hostage. Good bye sweet uncomplicated storylines…

PatrickStar created a topic of Top Star Sent by God

I don’t know, maybe because I don’t read this sort of leveling up music/actor stories but I was so frustrated by the fact that the MC is a genius as everything not even because he tried but because he can harness the power of the dead. It feels sooo shallow and unearned.

Really wanted to love it because I love a good will the won’t they make it gay story (they won’t but it’s the anticipation) but it’s not nearly compelling enough.

PatrickStar created a topic of Dazzling Breath

Can we all agree that Dazzling Breath is a hysterical name for a BL. It sounds like it a commercial tagline for a toothpaste.

PatrickStar created a topic of Dear, 00

So fucking glad I did not read this and marinated it for ages. Or I would be in abject pain. My sympathies.

PatrickStar created a topic of Spectrophilia

I don’t know why I don’t like this at all. It’s right up my alley but there was something about it that did not click. I think the MC and ML weren’t written all that well and weren’t compelling. The reaper and white haired guy are much more interesting.

This one shocked me. It has a great ending and amazing side stories that truly elevated a good story to a great one. The author absolutely nailed the beats of the plot and the pacing is excellent. The second couple is amazing and used sparingly, exactly how it’s supposed to be. Did so many things right and as someone who hates side stories and side couples, I was so pleased to be converted by this BL.

PatrickStar created a topic of When the Star Sleeps

Super impressed. I thought this was a good story until the end when it became a really great story, the side stories again elevated it to an amazing one. Strange because I hate side stories (some authors tack on way too much).

The ending reveal was done perfectly and usually hate when all the imp info is dumped in the end, it tanks the story but here it made actual sense. Haejin deciding to go through with the hibernation for the world/Yoon, perfection.

I thought Yoon and Haejin seemed really believably mature after the time jump. Their worries and fears felt natural as well.

The side couple was so good and again, I despise side couples because they derail the flow of the story so much but here, it was excellently executed. Never over stayed their welcome, felt believable and Dongyoon actually atoning and them getting together many years later is just chef’s kiss.

I wish the author had the gumption to pair up Yoon and Dimitri. I thought it would’ve fit really well but that’s taboo in BL so I understand too.

PatrickStar created a topic of Master-Peace

Love this to my very fucking core. I love how interesting the power dynamics are. The boxer holds all the power while seemingly having a really messed up life. The politician? Phew. He’s a mess, serving under a horrible corrupt boss and his career hinging on getting the building. But outwardly, he’s the one who should hold all the power. And him being the bottom??? Obsessed. Feral.

I don’t read Josei but the leading lady is literally Abel from Regas.

Urhmm. There are lines and this last chapter has a toe over the line because wtf??

Also, I’m always scared this story is going to change my brain chemistry for the stranger and Kendrick is proof that it’s working

Fighting myself everyday not to read this. Gotta let the chapters pile up. I can’t handle waiting for chapters.

PatrickStar created a topic of I'm Not Drunk!

The cover is doing such a disservice, yes it’s smutty but it also has some plot and cute ass characters. Really really love this and sooooo excited to see how it works out. Jiho is a 10 as well.

PatrickStar created a topic of One-Way Romance

This was really funny and sort of enjoyable until it wasn’t. The balance got tilted in favour of concern for the uke versus laughing at his antics.

Absolutely amazing. Extremely well written, conceptualized and realized. The characters are the best part of this and the ensemble are each unique and brilliantly written. What a treasure and a shame it’s so underrated.

Feels wrong to put it here but this BL transcends its bounds. Where it succeeds most isn’t the romance but depicting the life of a man, his friends and families against the backdrop of a 60s Korea, a patriarchal society, a look into a nation recently at war, queer characters within that framework and strict family structures of that time.

PatrickStar created a topic of Boy To Boy

Really love this, when it’s good it’s so fucking painfully good. It handles so many themes extremely well, generational trauma against the backdrop of a strict conformist 60s Korea in particular was done so well. Each character had motivations and reasons for being the way they are due to their family and that tying back into family structures, patriarchy etc. That was the most impressive part of the story.

The story of Seungtae’s sisters and his brother, his mother. Shot a spear through my very heart. I could really go on but I’ll just say, it is startlingly clear portrayal of an Asian household.

My biggest critics are with everything surrounding Jinho, who I truly loved. He inspired something in me, I understand why so many were in love with him too. The villians of the story being so obsessed with bordered on the melodramatic. Especially the brother. I don’t love that he ends up with Inhwe.

Oh but Jinho, his transient nature, his zest for the today, his sheer magnetism. I always knew he would leave and the author is absolutely right that in the og timeline, if Sungtae left with him, they probably would not last but I can’t help but wish for a world where they could’ve been happy.

PatrickStar created a topic of Boy To Boy

Oh, I know this bouta fuck me up. Can’t wait for it.

PatrickStar created a topic of A Gloomy Delusion

On 16 but I really thought I would love this. An exploration of an MC who’s desperate to get back and the struggles he faces is a cool idea but the MC is so …. Not fun to read. He cries a lot and I feel like there needs to be way more of a build up. Everything happens to fast and too slow. Disappointing.
