I think my point was misunderstood. I'm criticizing the trope itself, which is a lazy and often misogynistic writing tool. When authors create female characters whose only purpose is to be "the annoying obstacle" for the gay couple, it does a disservice to both the story and women as characters. It's not about hating individual female characters, it's about wanting better, more respectful representation that doesn't rely on turning women into one dimensional villains or nuisances.
