i am THIS close to dropping this if she ever does the whole simping route for the prince again. ew. girl stop
yes, privy to spoilers and all, the prince was still dumb and his logic was the worst, considering he should've been bright enough to run an empire.
let's focus on improving your life and cutting a bitch, FL.

at this point i'd long forgotten that she's from another world
and i know, i know, i'll probably get tons of caveats justifying this with "but she can't survive in this world without being ruthless!"/"her childhood in this world fucked her up!"
but yeah, character buildup just feels kind of clunky to me? don't get me wrong, love the plot, love everyone's character design & how highkey intense they are but if we're gonna add in the isekai premise, i feel like we need more duality to her character. coming from modern times and presumably spending her formative years in peaceful democracy (she couldn't even read the book this came from without flinching), now there's less and less relevance put into that. now she's just scheming and calculating 99% of the time. there's no debate or even any conflicted internal monologue here, she feels like someone going full chuuni.
probably would have played out better if it was a time reversal kinda thing, her complete 180 personality would flow smoother. or it might be a more interesting narrative if she's gradually made aware how the novel seems to be absorbing all of her and is starting to cast her as a character archetype instead of an actual person transmigrared. tbh if we completely do away with the isekai part, this story already stands well on its own.
idk, don't stone me, that's just me thinking out loud

I get what you mean!! I forgot she was from modern world before i read ur comment. The build-up to this character is very clunky, she is like having a 180° character reversal. The author kinda doesnt touch the whole reincarnation anymore, and i think they put reincarnation thingy just to made a reason why Roxanna knew what would happen in the future. I do agree with what u were saying

Well the fact that she’s reincarnated matters not in a sense that her past live matters but that she knows part of the future of this world and because her goals are different than the original and she is smarter about them the story changes. She is motivated by survival not as much compassion so I’d say that she may just be ruthless in her own personality while growing up here taught her more to be manipulative and check her actions. Now some people may say it would be better if she was just Roxanne with her past memories, but then she wouldn’t have the full perspective of it and a point of view from the protagonist and may have actual ties to people in the family. Her whole this is survival and does what she needs to to do that.

That's actually what I was thinking too while I was reading this. The whole reincarnation thing just seems like a plot device to justify her being perfect and being able to adapt to the family that it almost feel, emphasis on feel since she's not necessarily free of weaknesses and is still very interesting, like she's a mary sue. I know that she has to keep up a facade for herself. I know that the reincarnation situation is mainly used as a tool for her to survive, but if her past life and memories are that important then I wish the author at least included some conflict with her past life personality and thinking with the life she has right now. It'd make me feel appreciative of the MC's character more, but now she seems too perfect that it's boring lol.

duke ML is at 0 : hasn't really done anything concrete & we only got info from og novel
butler ML : ya boi at -10 for treating FL like that, idc if he has some underlying reason or whatever, but he knows she's a noble & the BS that girls have to deal with. the absolute disrespect... i can't. ur at the bottom rankings for now
knight ML : 95 this man is a treasure. -5 for hiding his identity but it's understandable considering her ties with the duke

I hate mangas with uber unrealistic background characters just to amp up the drama. It ruins plot immersion.
You're telling me that a bunch of teenagers who witnessed this fucked up event didn't record anything? I saw a shitload of people near a bank robbery trying to film for clout. You're telling me no one in that huge group of people fell all over themselves to describe everything that happened in sordid detail on social media? Like literally no one in that friend group would be a normal person who'd be like, "I don't know this dude that well, but I did see some random hobo looking guy run up and stab a classmate. So him getting doxxed instead of that violent stranger doesn't make sense."
And idk wtf are the dumbass policemen even saying? I don't know what weird law gymnastics they have in Japan but what happened fulfills all legal elements for self defense, which also allows someone to respond with the same level of deadly force when attacked unprovoked. No body?? The guy isn't caught so there's no case, he stabbed him in the stomach???? Why are you saying this?? Why are you trying to establish a case against the victim??? Who gave you your license???? FELLAS. That's when the whole 'we'll set up a watch on you, since you were recently attacked by a possible stalker who is still at large' police thing happens.
50% has so much potential for a good psychological manga, but 50% seems like on the verge of collapsing with plotholes.
The only thing that can possibly save this is the Unreliable Narrator trope.

that's the laziest justification i've read lol, as if mangakas and authors didn't take paid days to do plot research. it's the authors obligation to maintain the reader's suspension of disbelief by providing just enough of reality to make the fictional elements take on life in the story. this is particularly important for psychological horror, where the thrill comes from the surreal possibility of it happening irl.
For manga, it has to be visually simulating enough with an insane plot to be interesting, but it also has to trick your senses into believing it. That's why FMA worked as well as it did, because aside from fantasy themes, disabled and war veteran struggles were also researched by the author.
i'm honestly so fuckin stoked when the conversation heads to the marriage candidate in question
fl: yeah, my dad wants me to get married-
ml: !! >:[
fl: -to the crown prince of all people
ml: :D !!!
fl: and i would rather die than let that happen
ml: :'( ???
If the conversation actually went that far, half of the problem would be out of the bag
But our FL decided to stop half way -_-
:] lmao what can i say, i'm a connoisseur of slowburn romance & princess-and-the-pea layers of misunderstanding. i thrive on hilarious/angsty miscommunication and often lose 50% of my interest in the plot when feelings go mutual so... i'm honestly kinda alright with things not getting revealed so soon lol
Same
The Prince’s reactions are hilarious
