and i know, i know, i'll probably get tons of caveats justifying this with "but she can't survive in this world without being ruthless!"/"her childhood in this world fucked her up!"
but yeah, character buildup just feels kind of clunky to me? don't get me wrong, love the plot, love everyone's character design & how highkey intense they are but if we're gonna add in the isekai premise, i feel like we need more duality to her character. coming from modern times and presumably spending her formative years in peaceful democracy (she couldn't even read the book this came from without flinching), now there's less and less relevance put into that. now she's just scheming and calculating 99% of the time. there's no debate or even any conflicted internal monologue here, she feels like someone going full chuuni.
probably would have played out better if it was a time reversal kinda thing, her complete 180 personality would flow smoother. or it might be a more interesting narrative if she's gradually made aware how the novel seems to be absorbing all of her and is starting to cast her as a character archetype instead of an actual person transmigrared. tbh if we completely do away with the isekai part, this story already stands well on its own.

The author kinda doesnt touch the whole reincarnation anymore, and i think they put reincarnation thingy just to made a reason why Roxanna knew what would happen in the future. I agree with you. In the novel there is more if her true self personality. Here its just her being savage not that much of how she actually thing. Maby the author and artist wants to show us after leaving a hard life like that she has become like this
Well the fact that she’s reincarnated matters not in a sense that her past live matters but that she knows part of the future of this world and because her goals are different than the original and she is smarter about them the story changes. She is motivated by survival not as much compassion so I’d say that she may just be ruthless in her own personality while growing up here taught her more to be manipulative and check her actions. Now some people may say it would be better if she was just Roxanne with her past memories, but then she wouldn’t have the full perspective of it and a point of view from the protagonist and may have actual ties to people in the family. Her whole this is survival and does what she needs to to do that.
Idk, I feel like it makes sense why she wouldn’t be like that because if she was a character that lets everything bother her, I don’t think she would have been able to take her situation or even make it this far
That's actually what I was thinking too while I was reading this. The whole reincarnation thing just seems like a plot device to justify her being perfect and being able to adapt to the family that it almost feel, emphasis on feel since she's not necessarily free of weaknesses and is still very interesting, like she's a mary sue. I know that she has to keep up a facade for herself. I know that the reincarnation situation is mainly used as a tool for her to survive, but if her past life and memories are that important then I wish the author at least included some conflict with her past life personality and thinking with the life she has right now. It'd make me feel appreciative of the MC's character more, but now she seems too perfect that it's boring lol.
I do understand what u mean. She has this past life with a whole memories and experience but they glossed it over just as plot device. But some ppl said her personality is more apparent in the novel
