when you read plots like this, you don't come for the coherence or continuity- you come for the DRAMA

when the childhood scenes end and they see the adult leads not living up to the kids' performance

sometimes i think about that ETM lyric, "Ruthlessness is mercy upon yourself."

because it applies to sooo many ill-advised decisions of FLs being this bastion of mercy and 'being the better person' only for it to become a huge conflict down the line. it makes it harder to read when they're literally given multiple opportunities to nip it in the bud and they didn't.

i hope to god her 'plans' for this antagonist is satisfying or at least nets more benefits to her cause than the repercussions of letting her go.

she already KNOWS this lady owned the ML and therefore has closer ties to the Kalluan empire. one wrong question from her and they're fucked. or at leat ML is and he's probably gonna have to sacrifice himself so cliche plot point can happen, which is to get taken back for human experiments again.

whereas knowing this minor antagonist isn't even favored by her family, she could've easily filed a complaint on her ass the minute she went to her residence and started beating someone employed there. or even the second she got injured in a venue that not only had her father in attendance but multiple people from different empires clamoring for her abilities... y'all think anyone would oppose giving maximum punishment even with no evidence just to get her favor at that moment? even her dad is going around suing people just for talking crap.

but nah. now i'm just waiting until this perfectly avoidable antagonist causes a chain reaction that rips them apart somehow for a time skip or something.

he gets fixed up and wakes up in a bed and speculates who brought him home, and is suddenly overcome with fear and anxiety thinking ML is mad at "discovering" his "deception" so he hides

it was drawn so, so sweetly when ML coaxes him to come out and they share their first kiss, but my god the novel nearly broke me because heesung was so terrified of being rejected again that it's like he couldn't think and as ML approached, he was trying to frantically cover himself with ML's clothes while shivering and sobbing in the closet like a kid like, baby pls omg come out he's known all along, let him care for you ahhhhhh
