so i’m going based off a vague memory so if i get anything wrong feel free to correct me. but the reason raeliana pissed me off was for that one scene where she was talking to OG raeliana and was like. “well look at me i ended up in your body and i’m doing great!!” as if she didn’t literally cheat??? she KNEW what was going to happen cuz she reincarnated into a novel she read!! she new what resources to exploit while og raeliana was manipulated into accepting a deal, she just didn’t want to die
from what i’m remembering, OG raeliana was foretold the future and she found out she was going to die, so i guess you could argue that she also had that knowledge but i think otherwise (this is just an assumption, im not sure if it’s wrong bc this is off of memory) because she was vaguely explained the situation, she didn’t know all the knowledge that NEW raeliana has cuz she read the story and knew how it was going to end.
new raeliana comes from a past life to begin with with different customs and modern intellegence that OG raeliana doesn’t have, she was raised in historic type world so ofc she wouldn’t think to be quirky and just rizz up some dude in power with information she doesn’t even have about his business or whatever new raelina ended up using to negotiate with him so yeah, bc she said that she rubbed me off the wrong way. “it’s easy just do this look at me in doing great!”
like it felt so tone deaf for her to say that.
anyway that’s my rant as to why i dropped this.
I think you are misunderstanding what Raeliana said. What she meant was that Beatriz (OG Raeliana) chose the easier way despite having all the resources at her disposal and just wanted her happiness to be handed to her rather than pursue it. Sure, you are right that new Raeliana had knowledge of the story, but so did OG Raeliana. If she didn't, how would she know to get into Beatriz's body? How would she know to chase after Noah? She knew that Beatriz would survive, and she knew that Noah was supposed to fall in love with Beatriz and marry her and that is what she wanted for herself. It was never about not dying. If it was, she could've just tried to break her engagement as Raeliana did, or disappear after she changed bodies, and she would've lived. She wanted the fate that Beatriz was supposed to have: the beautiful body, the loving husband and the rich house and life. But she didn't want to work for it, she wanted to steal it instead. Even after she realized that Rawlins had not died according the prophecy, she had already managed to become the adopted daughter of a duke. She could have had a perfectly good life with riches and high position, but she still kept trying to kill Raleiana because she wanted the fate that was 100% sure would be a good one. She would rather put effort onto that than onto trying to carve a fate for herself. It didn't mean she had to do the exact same as Raeliana did, but she was never the blameless victim she tried to portray. Hell, she had no qualms in performing black magic to cast out the soul of another person, and abandoning her entire family who clearly loved her to go live with some rich dude, and then try to kill and blackmail other people. She was no shrinking violet. That is why Raeliana said that, because she worked hard to achieve what she had, and Beatriz refused to work hard for anything and the only thing she did was complain and blame others for her situation.
this is a very interesting perspective, thank you for sharing! it did clear up a lot of my annoyance of raelina, you’re right i think i did end up misunderstanding the message they were trying to portray with her and i can definitely see how OG raeliana had a victim mentality. i do still feel bad because she /is/ still manipulated and scared into making her decision. but you’re right, you refreshed my memory on the overall backstory, i completely forgot about the engagement that got her killed in the first place.
i definitely am still annoyed at some aspects, because i did mention the argument that og raeliana also knew the story, but not in DETAIL like new raeliana did (at least that’s still my impression unless you can share something proving otherwise). another thing that i’m still under the impression under is that the witch (i think it was?) essentially told her that the only way to do it was to switch lives with beatrice to escape her fate- that’s why she didn’t put in effort, because she was manipulated and didn’t see a reason why. however despite my compassion for her it’s also something that can be criticized that she didn’t try like at ALL to change her fate.
but yeah thank you for your insight! im considering rereading this with the new perspective you gave me and it definitely helped sizzle down the annoyance i had over raeliana, it was the entire reason why i couldn’t continue reading it as well
If I remember correctly, the witch showed Beatriz (OG Raeliana) the plan that the goddess had, in which after Raeliana's death, a new soul came into the body of her friend Beatriz and she met Noah and they fell in love and married. The witch told OG Raeliana that she was supposed to be a supporting character to kick start the new Beatriz's love story in the goddess plan. And she got mad that she was a supporting character rather than the protagonist. Which ok, valid , no problem with that. But now with this new information about her life, she didn't try to change her own circumstances for the better, she decided to steal the place of Beatriz's new soul (current Raeliana) who was supposed to have all the good things "handed" to her. It might be true that she didn't have all the details, but the point is that she clearly had the attitude and determination to change, but focused it all in portraying the poor girl and getting people to do things for her (she plays the victim for the duke who adopted her, plays the loyal friend to Vivian while she manipulates her, tries to play victim for Noah the first time they met as well), rather than get down and do the work, and when Raeliana appeared, screwing her perfect plan, again, rather than improvising and trying to build a better life for herself, her solution is to kill her and get things back on "track". It was delusional as well to think that all would be resolved if Reliance just disappeared like in the original story, but then she's delusional, she thinks Noah only loved Beatriz because she was beautiful and that the fate she stole is set in stone and no amount of screwing up in her part will change it. She's the ultimate dumb white lotus and that's why people don't like her.
ohhh, yeah this definitely clears it up, you’re right she did focus all her energy into all the darkest ways she could go about it. the sympathy i had left for her was the final impression that the witch would kill her if she didn’t meet her end of the deal (which was to kill new raeliana) which would explain her desperate behavior. but taking her actions into account, even if that was the case it’s clear she had some screws loose with all her dark motives and believing that her fantasies would come true. since the start og raeliana had no problem hurting og beatrice, so it’s not far fetched to think she had purely harmful intentions for new raeliana (threat of the witch or not).
at the time i read this it was when it only had a few chapters and would take from weeks to months to update. when that happens i tend to interpret the story wrong out of poor memory of what even happened where i previously left off. but yeah thanks again for taking the time to explain everything to me <3

thanks for defending me. ur right, i wasn’t expecting this, especially in a shounen ai of all things. the story was going great- it was just completely unnecessary and it’s even more insulting that it’s treated so lightly. i just dropped another story that added a lot of unnecessary messed up shit like drugging and raping a sleeping person (in the same story by two different people). like, fuck man, if i wanted to see that shit i’d read the psychological tag bc ik those mostly have that and they do it better too because they acknowledge how messed up these themes are and portray it as such.
if they’re gonna do it, they gotta do it tastefully, not just use it as a silly little plot device to add in drama where they later just forget abt it and move on. otherwise just don’t add it in at all and i’ll continue to criticize the poor and disrespectful writing decisions.

currently i’m reading “Will the Roasted Beans Sprout”. Its a live triangle where an Alpha and Omega are entangled with the Beta. I absolutely hate loved triangles but decided to give this a chance just bc Beta’s finally get the appreciation he deserves lol (well sort of, both love interests are toxic in their own ways but Im rooting for the Alpha.)
