I just recently read the first few chapters of the plot of "The Heavenly Demon Can’t Live a Normal Life" and I wanna talk about why I personally didn't like/prefer the story of Cale The Trash Count over it:
The MC Cheonma Baek Jung-hyuk was a brutal bloodthirsty martial art demon grandpa who gets reincarnated as the moron Duke's son Roman Dmitry with already well built ideal body.
"Roman" warps the plot and characters basically everything around himself to be the center of everything when he a former nerd loser suddenly single handedly starts killing bandits/criminials with ease and sadism.
I would say the plot is very simple, fast paced, pretentious, full of primitive heterosexual arrogant two dimensional tall macho super mascular men punching or swordfighting each other.
It is a very grand male power fantasy how an op larger than life asshole can easily massacre/torture other evil assholes.
And the female characters are... See it for yourself...
I am sure you ve seen this savage martial artist gary stu type with a huge superior complex plenty times before...
What I like about the story of Cale The Trash Count...
He is unwillingly in the center of the plot but many other characters regardless of gender + race are getting the spotlight and have their own agency.
There is really sth very endearing, humble, kind, human and unusual about Cale.
He hides his real strenght/intelligence as good as he can, he doesn't like to be in center of attention, doesn't care to be on top of the hierachy of sth, doesn't show off his manly body or manlyness, doesn't like brutally torturing slowly or painfully others, is very careful considerate & respectful but also sometimes bold + sassy/cheeky, wants to be left alone and live peacefully, despite being "powerful" he still worries + struggles etc...
I really adore TRASH COUNT and his supporting cast!
If you read THDCLaNL, what arguments would you like to add?
Hmmm.... I read the 1st chapter of it... but I still prefer the this manhwa, actually I can't really compare it since it is very different. I am currently reading the novel of this manhwa, and it got me all hype, it is all mysterious, from who is really cale and what he is in his past life. The mc in the THDCLaNL feels like he emits the aura of choi han. If choi han is in the 1st chapter he would beat the bandits up and cale would just watch him... I really don't know it is just opinions and preference ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
I don't like to compare manhwa but I like this one better typically the character dynamic Cale have. Maybe THDCLANL is a little to basic I guess? It goes like most stories goes as the mc is central of attention and a bit too brutal? I also like medium pace better. It don't develop too fast like THDCLANL which make the story kinda hard to keep up with and usually get boring quickly to me. Other than that I'm fine with reading both. Oh and I like the art style here. It has details and more eye catchy.
If Lesian (Why She Lives as a Villainess) were in Dahlia's place she would have risked or sacrificed her life like a badass bitch to humiliate and cut down the scum emperor and his men.
If it were Melissa (Beware of The Villainess)...She very likely would have done the same and also find any ways to become so powerful that she can viciously + unapologetically destroy any opponents.
Wishful thinking
She is the empress's daughter, switch to ensure she got the crown, so she is the prince's sister. Also the dad hates her because his wife and real child died during the switch. It just sounded so astronomically stupid and a rather over the top 'twist' I got 'iris lady with a not so smarrphone' vibes.
But I am getting tired of seeing the forced reincarnated MC getting a harem of psychotic annoying alphaholes who become obsessed with her evtl and cruel bloodthirsty secretly tortured tyrant/emperor (as a father) who gets charmed, redeemed and reformed by the conventionally cute pretty FL at the end...
I never get used to the idea that victim characters gets reincarnated as the child of their mortal enemies and then starting to bond or develop deep feelings for them...
Or the one who killed the FL suddenly falls in love with the reincarnated FL because in this new body she is the fairest/most beautiful of them all, so familliar and is not like other girls...

That kind of genre/premise is not my cup of tea.
Personally I am more comfortable with Peerless Alchemist, Charlotte has Five Disciples, Beware of The Villainess, Tearmoon Empire Story,
The Reincarnated Great Saint Hides Herself as a Saint, Untouchable Lady and The Way to Protect the Female Lead's Older Brother.
If you read my recommmendations you may understand why I prefer these stories more.
If she has so much money, power and modesty on her own, why does she need even the inheritance/title???
Most people don't think about leaving the toxic place and creating/building sth sustainable on their own...
Why leave something youve contributed your whole life and energy to just for you to go and struggle biulding it up from scratch? And even if they did whos to say that the other side wont try to block all paths of you becoming successful? She has money and power but she only has it as a sergio. And plus due to past experiences shes learned that no matter how capable someone is without favorable circumstances shell just be a nobody
I mean it is possible and with her keen sense of observation and eye for profit she could pull it off. Especially since shell have the backup of her brother kayden whos like the head huncho of the underworld. In fact him being there would make it easier since he can heavily influence the underworld when he leaves the mercentile merchants then people would start fuckinn with the business. Although this might not really make the business go under im pretty sure itll give it major setbacks but honestly it all boils down to her having to invest so muh time and energy into the business and the title that she should have just for it to be taken by some bimbo thats gonna drive it to the ground. And also the household isnt toxic for it to be hard living there. This setback is only tradition and just because of one little tradition setback she would throw a fit and leave? Yeah no. The dad treated her really well, didnt abuse her and made sure she was a shoe in for the head title. Its just that some bimbo thought she should be the one to get it and was trying to use family rules for her to compete for the inheritance.
You re right. Not a toxic abusive home, but perhaps quite outdated, unappreciated and biased enviroment.
Seriously, what is the loose father/patriarch thinking who is supposed to be a smart business man?! We all can assume that this is his flaw created by "the author" being too lenient and soft towards bitch Noella.
Giving/entrusting favourite beloved child Noella who has no experiences and negotiating in business the whole Sergio Enterprise is quite stupid...
Despite having so much priveledges, wealth and connections on her own BECAUSE she had the knowlege about this novel world, past memories as a business womean and two decades extra time, she still wants the land property of the south.
Her pride and entitlement mixed with victim complex won't let this go.
I think It's the obvious plot device of the narrative to have her seek out and end up with the god like attractive priest knight that will give her more prestige + (material) happiness.
And whats so wrong with wanting to hold onto something that shes worked on for most of her life? You say it like her dad was going to give the whole damn company to noella from the start regardless of husband or no husband. I dont get how the FL has a victim complex since the person with a victim complex here is noella. But seriously what is wrong with wanting something and fighting for something that is rightfully hers especially when shes invested so much time and knowledge into it? You also say it like with all of these knowledge from previous life, experience from both past life and present life business deals shell be able to move mountains in merchant business once she starts. Thats not how it works, a business takes time to grow up to a year or even a generation and even though she has the knack for it with two decades of business knowledge its not like shell just leave the most efficient way of obtaining power just so that she can go into a life full of risks and uncertainty. Whats so wrong with wanting to hold onto an easier life? Shes already struggled being the underdog in the past life. She sure as hell wont make things so difficult and complicated in this life by leaving it in a fit of discontent. Her pride and entitlement is a given since she is entitled to fight for her efforts and investment and what if she has pride for it? If it were only pride and entitlement yeah itll be bad but just as you said "she had the knowlege about this novel world, past memories as a business womean and two decades extra time" therfore that pride and entitlement are a given with all the efforts shes exerted. Especially with her knowledge from the novel she sure as hell dont want to leave the company in the hands of someone thatll become 6 ft under in a matter of a year or two.
To see a tall cruel priveledged/elitist black haired guy with red eyes being the antagonist and becoming the target of revenge. His character design/type has been usually used as the dangerous brooding ML with his own assasins in many other stories before.
It would be very groundbreaking, nuanced and original, if we see a character like him loosing his shit/failing because of a flawed sinful female protagonist that he literally stabbed in the back!
I will drop this story, if he is too unfazed, victorious and suddenly becoming romantically obsessed with with the FL! And I hope there won't be any sympatheic absurd excuses why he did that or this.
No more "he was cursed, had a traumatic past or he was forced to".
Please just let him the irredeemable bad guy/scum who gets punished in the end!
And I don't care that he is hot or more attractive than the red haired ML!
No complaints about the story and characters. They are great, nuanced and mature.
Even the pathetic insufferable red haired prince can reason to some extend.
But the more I read/stick with this fantasy novel reincarnation world genre, the more I get tired of seeing again the dark haired cold/reserved tortured tsundere or sometimes gentle ML type and the hot headed mad usually more violent/agressive other guy who is either an antagonist, rival or more shittier 2nd/3rd ML.
Let's not forget the blonde ML with red eyes who is usually very mean, shifty and cruel.
Correct me, if I am wrong but am I the only one who noticed that many of the popular dark haired handsome guys as the ML look almost the same with very similar hairstyles?
And I starting to see more often FLs with white silver hair combined with golden, red, blue or violet eyes - The textbook definition of fairylike beauty who needs love at the end.
I recently discovered "A Red Knight Does Not Blindly Follow Money" where we see a very flawed but self-reflective regretful badass non-innocent FL and a red haired ML who is provocative but also very playful, nice, reasonable and respectul.
He seems to be the type who really mean to apologize for his mistakes on his own.
Do you know other stories where the red haired guy is not a brutal annoying asshole?
I really love Cale The Trash Count^^
But I don't like the red haired ML in "Irregular Empress".
Didn't he tricked and killed ruthlessly the crying hysterical girl Inase (who clearly loved him) for being a witch? It is still debatable if she was really complete "replaced".
I don't like seeing powerful witches portrayed as just deceitful and evil anymore.
Even though he felt some regret and pity for this girl, he then trying to silence the FL disguised as a man when she witness the murder scene.
And when he finds her interesting, he displays his arrogance, narcissim, superiority and pettiness.
Doesn't he also uses his status to tease and manipulate her?
I like that he had to buy her alliance/cooperation but it does bother me that we can see that she is already easily swayed by his handsomeness... She totally forgets that he wanted to execute her.
Then it turns out FL's father saved once the ML's life and how does that prince repays his saviour? Deliberatley dragging his child to the factional political power struggle because he wants FL.
As playful and charming he is, I can't sympatheize with a prince who does anything to secure his throne or maintain the royal system.
Not my cup of tea. This is how I personally perceive this story.
What I like about Cale is that he is trying not to do any unnecessary harm, doesn't like to be the center of attention and doesn't behave like a larger than life figure.
He doesn't want power; he wants enough strenght to protect himself and live in peace.
Cale rather solves pragmatically problems instead of getting anything with blood, violence and death.

But is nobody talking here about the interesting Dressed Up Skull Lady ヾ(☆▽☆)
