ok i j needed to take the time to rant abt this bc i fukn angry cried reading this bc of how abusive this whole relationship was. i get that the author was trying to flesh out winter’s character and explain his personality/trauma by explaining his past, HOWEVER he used that hurt and anger to become... a worse person? and you can’t excuse his actions in this story no matter what.

he used his past as an excuse to undervalue the FL’s feelings/situation and continued to gaslight her? it makes me so fucking angry bc that was so manipulative and emotionally abusive of him. his character is def irredeemable in my eyes bc his excuse of trying to keep her in this relationship is bullshit.

also holy FUCK what pisses me off the most is the fact that the FL took the time to be vulnerable in front of her husband and explain her feelings and he couldn’t even at the very least SYMPATHIZE with her???? like shit bro you’ve been thru some painful shit too but u can’t even see how hurt the person you’re supposedly in love with is... for what....? when the problem was presented to you you couldn’t even take the time to reflect on what she’s was saying/the situation and continued to... BLAMS her??? and then u get confused as to why she’s want so to leave you/why she isn’t happy?

nevermind the fact that every time they get into an argument this man uses “you” statements and redirect the flow of the conversation to continuously blame his wife. arguments are meant to resolve a conflict by explaining how you feel personally and not pin the blame on someone else and explain how you think they’re feeling. doing that opposite of that doesn’t help anyone and let add to more resentment between the both of you than reconciliation.

i hate it even more because no one believed her and thought she was acting up j for attention? like how cruel and evil can u be to disregard someone who is clearly in need of help to ignore her like that???? i mean everyone should see the way her husband treats her to her face and how everyone else treats her and it’s crazy how her husband isn’t piecing that shit together ???? MF HOW CAN U NOT NOTICE UR WIFE IS DRAINED AND DEPRESSED ???? and U ARE THE CAUSE???

the structure of hierarchy here is really similar to that of the captive prince series but i rlly like this story

okay literally now that i’ve read this for the 3rd time and i’m reading the official THIRDS series for the second time there’s j sooo much to unpack and say but overall i feel like if you really liked this manga/want a better understanding of the storyline y’all should def read the book. the characters are more fleshed out and there’s j so much more detail on the memes, the side couple, and the actual case.

like ok totally understandable that y’all think Sloane is an asshole and that this entire book isn’t mainly abt gabe’s death but mind you this is only the first part to a 10 part series. there’s so much more that’s going on and so much more that you aren’t seeing in the manga.

ie: the time they were at the cafe after Sloane almost lashed out on the paps? there was a chick there that took a pic of Dex’s as she while ordering & told Sloane “your boys got a nice ass” to which Sloane also took the time to appreciate it. and the bar scene? yeah the bartender’s supposed to give Sloane a whole pep talk on how he shouldn’t give Dex up and also some yuppie guy tries to get in Dex’s pants before he’s cockblocked by Cael.

that’s j to name a few but THIS SERIES IS RLLY GOOD OVERALL IF U GAVE THE BOOK A CHANCE i def recommend it :’)
