This is only my assumption but I think the count is related to the fl's mother and he has somewhat grudge against her.
Since she looks like fl's mother i think thats why he locks her up and tortures her or maybe he has a grudge against fl's mother or her family but it also shows that he's siding with the 1st prince too.

He’s not related to the mother he was in love with the mother and got rejected. The mcs parents fell in love and they had her somehow he forgot about it and idk what happened to the mother but I assume brown haired guy did something to her and got ahold of mc because she reminded him of the mother (reference:the flashbacks from her first life)

If ever that you are confused about the history of the black mirror or where it came from, take a short time to read this, but take note that this is only from what I understand.
So MY THEORY is that, the thing about looking at the mirror in a thunderstorm is an urban legend that has been circulating around ever since the 18's. Because it was shown in one of the chapters that there are similar cases in Japan and that the writer (seme) is not the murderer because cases like that existed even before he was born, and that the first case was from the 18's. (*I'm sorry but did it say the 18's or the 19's I cant really remember tho.)
And the black mirror was born out of the human's malice. Like how the devils are born, or the evil things in this world. It was born out of people's selfish desires. And the whole story also focused on how the world is really unfair and there are no nice people in this world.
And the thing about how the seme's parents know about the curse was because like what I said, it may be an urban legend, and looking at how they abuse their child in the name of DiScIpliNe, they put up mirrors on the second floor and on the black room in which they locked him in, and tell him stories about the curse and scare him to diSciPline him.
